i will admit that i wondered what tacky element he might want included. maybe turn it into the military parade he never got. and he's such a narcissist. i wouldn't be surprised if he pre-writes all of his eulogies. can you imagine if his buddy Kanye West gave a eulogy? we already know Ivanka will be one of them.

I wondered if a president who was removed from office or who resigned in disgrace would receive a state funeral, and apparently the answer is yes, because Nixon did.
I wonder what happens if a former president dies in prison.

I'm sure he is telling people that he wants his funeral to be the biggest, most elaborate (aka tacky) funeral any president has had in the history of this country. I think every president gets a state funeral. I remember Reagan and Nixon. I don't remember Ford's funeral, but I'm sure it was a state funeral as well. If he ends up in prison (doubtful, but a girl can dream), that's the only way I would see them wanting the service to be private.

I was thinking about this today as I watched coverage of the funeral. I'm sure there will be people who love him who will eulogize him, but what exactly will they say? He loved money? They certainly won't be able to talk about what a great human being he was, unless they have seen a different side of him than the public sees. George Bush signed into law the Americans with Disabilities Act. Trump has made fun of disabled people. Bush was able to work with a democratic majority. I could go on. Some of Bush's greatest rivals ended up being dear and life-long friends. Did he make mistakes? YES! He was not a perfect president as proven by his inability to be elected to a second term.
But he had the ability to endear people to him, even if they didn't agree with him. Seeing Bob Dole get up from his wheel chair and salute him was probably one of the most tear-jerking moments of the past few days. And theirs was once a heated rivalry. In my mind, George Bush is the true embodiment of we are so much more than our political beliefs. You can like even love the man he was even if you hated his politics.
Who can say that about Trump? Even the people I know who support him and voted for him will say they don't like the person he is. But they don't care.  |

As far as a funeral for 45, the ONLY people that might be there or might utter a kind word would be people financially benefiting from his demise, and I seriously doubt he'll have $1 to his name pretty soon.............

There will definitely be a state funeral...that whole family has the entitlement gene. Even if there's proof of criminal activity, they'll still want what they believe they are owed. |

I hope that there will be the biggest storm ever, over the Atlantic that will make it impossible for any of our Royals to attend because all the planes will be grounded... for days! My biggest fear is that he will still be in office if the Queen dies and it will be him that will attend her funeral  |
