On the sixth day of Christmas, my scraproom gave to me,
Six swans a swimming?
When I think of swans swimming, I think of peace, and calm, and gentle swirls in the pond. For this challenge:
Create a page or card, a tag or some other project that has some kind of swirls on it. The swirls can be part of the paper pattern, or added with stamping or embossing, or with swirls of gems like Zva.
&/OR Use water colour pencils or paints on your project. Maybe alcohol inks on acetate? Or use paper with a water colour design.
&/OR Tell us about how you keep calm in the crazy pre Christmas weeks. What is your trick to keeping it all together?
&/OR Celebrate your favorite hot beverage. Share a photo of it. Any special flavours or treatments this time of year? Create a page about it. Make it a focal on a card or tag. Be sure to add some swirly steam!
&/OR since December 6th is Santa's birthday, how about a birthday LO or card?

i had no idea it's santa's bithday today I don't know about his birthday but today is the feast day of St. Nicholas (from whom the legend of Santa Claus is derived). In the Catholic tradition, feasts are usually celebrated on the anniversary of the Saint's death - I'm not sure that we know for sure when St Nicholas died (or was born for that matter) but Dec 6th is traditionally considered to be his death anniversary - at least in the Western tradition - in Eastern Orthodox tradition, I believe that St Nicholas Day is a couple of weeks later And a fun story to go with along with it - our family tradition (dating back to my childhood in Germany) is that St Nicholas fills a shoe with candy (chocolate coins and an orange (we do chocolate oranges)) on Dec 5th (so the kids find them in the morning of the 6th). My older two aren't at home anymore but I had Amazon deliver a chocolate orange to DS27 in Okinawa and I sent a little gift bag with a chocolate orange and some coins back to college with DD18 after Thanksgiving. I've gotten two photos - one of a Navy boot with a chocolate orange perched carefully on top and one of a fashion boot with a small gift bag perched carefully on top. <3

grammadee - oh they are getting scrapped for sure - made my day when those pictures showed up. Really made me feel like the traditions we've had over the years were important to them not just me. DD18 facetimed during our Advent ceremony last Sunday and I had DH grab a picture of that also...Advent is her favourite holiday

Turns out I was wrong about TWO things today. Our family always celebrated December 6th as "Santa Claus's birthday", not by gifts, but just thinking about the giving saint as a person. After Linda's post, I looked it up, and apparently St Nick was born in March. But I still will always think of today as his birthday. And I got my farm fowl mixed up. Day 6 was about GEESE, not SWANS (which were for tomorrow's prompt). Oh well, will get to the geese for Friday's prompt. BTW, I created a card for today--the only crafting I did while trying frantically to get my house in order for--maybe--people staying here this weekend. Created the card, but forgot to get a photo, so will share tomorrow.

I just watched some quick semi-educational videos about St Nick in the DD Mega thread I have a swirly background stamp that I've been meaning to turn into a finished card - currently have no idea what to put in front of it, but maybe this prompt will get me thinking about it and Brain will figure out what will work... In the meantime, re: keeping calm - well, there's plenty of overwhelm going on around here from time to time during the holiday season. But this year I'm ahead of the game on most things and feeling pretty calm and I have to give credit to my taking time to review past Christmas journals and diaries last month, and making lots of lists and reminders. I was able to make notes on things I'm going to need to do way ahead of time (with that help from the extra early Thanksgiving) and I'm actually finding myself getting things done even earlier than I had planned. Not having to rush into the post office on the busiest mailing day of the year will feel really good!

Working ahead and getting things in order early is definitely a good way to stay ahead of the chaos, joblackford. Good job! Looking forward to seeing your swirly stamp in action soon. Here is my swirly card. I created it with the supplies I listed in its description on Flickr, but then I thought it looked too bland, so I diecut a circle out of a piece cut from a sheet of SookWang two sided tape, put it over the top of the swirls with the stamped image in the open centre, pressed it in place, removed the backing, and then applied glitter. glitter swirl by Gramma Dee, on Flickr

Wow grammadee , I love those swirls and the ribbon, I used to use that ribbon a lot back in the day, it looks amazing! stinkerbelle I love the swirls and swans! The title looks fab, I love both those Thickers, the aqua ones used to be a favourite of mine! Love all your papers, they're all amazing and the embellishments are so cool, great work, super lush!

I haven't been doing the best job keeping calm. I did sign up for a Restorative Yoga class about the chakras. It was once a week and ended December 9. I like to take baths to relax, but I haven't fit that into my schedule this month. I also drink tea both hot and cold (especially since I bought myself a tea advent calendar.) This pic is of a cup of iced tea that I made myself. Tea by Jacqueline Bruce, on Flickr
