There was a wonderful exhibit at the Getty Center on these very caves. I think it was 2013, we were at the Getty and saw monks walking back and forth from the museum to an outbuilding near the entrance. Later we learned they were recreating these caves and the exhibit opened in a few months. They were extraordinary. The recreation of these caves was truly spectacular with painted panels and dim lighting. Unfortunately you weren’t able to take pictures so all I have now is the catalog.
