DS has asked for a new stereo for his car, and sent me a link to this one. Do these options mean to choose what kind of option is in the car already? I know he doesn't have navigation but how do I find out if he has thx or a sub woofer? He also doesn't know, btw.  |

Yes what is on the car already. In that section you "describe" your vehicle based on the drop-down list and they send the one that works.
ETA: To find out if he has those options, look at the owners manual or download one from the internet.
I also wanted to mention that I'm not a car stereo expert. But I have purchased a lot of after-market products for vehicles. DH handles all our car stereo needs.

The manual was useless. All it says is this vehicle may have thx. DS is going to look closely at the stereo to see if it says anything. By now he knows he's getting it so no sneaking necessary.

Suggest he looks at the speaker covers for the THX logo. If his car audio is THX certified, the speaker covers should have this logo.

update-I called the local ford dealer who referred me to a shop that installs them. Called them and they said to order the radio, then call them and they will order any other installation parts needed (apparently only the installation parts vary with the thx/subwoofer/whatever) and then I can make an appointment for them to install it. DS thought he was going to install it but with all the options this car has I think a pro should install it-so that will be part of his Christmas present too.
