My son works at a music store so I have a hook up on discounts and knowledge of guitars. DS casually spoke with DH and we figured that DH wanted a Taylor guitar. I told DH that we were going to music store so he could help pick out a guitar for my coworker who was shopping for a guitar. So down to the store we went and DH was picking and strumming on guitars thinking that he was picking out one for my coworker when he was really picking out his own! So...he has picked a Taylor 214ce and he has been playing every night since he got it! Lucky me! He has been playing guitar since high school and also plays bass guitar. He courted me with his acoustic guitar skills and now he gets to court me again! |

Awww how did he respond when he learned he was choosing his own guitar? He was stunned! I wish I could figure out how to post the video here. He was open mouthed jaw dropped shocked. It was the best present ever! He could not believe that he was holding his new Taylor! My son's boss gave us a great discount and a $200 Taylor guitar case. My DS is gifting DH more guitar accessories for Christmas. Some new strings, tuner and a capo. |

flanz Girl! I love all things Jason Mraz! He is so incredibly talented! I have been lucky enough to see him in concert three times. DH is learning the guitar but being able to sing the lyrics is a whole other matter! I am shocked at how difficult Africa is to learn. It is full of chord changes! DH is digging in on Youtube videos right now learning it.

First time i got sick and couldn't go.... but I found a friend to give my ticket to. Second time we traveled 2 hours to see him in another city - fabulous. Third time was a few months ago. Had tickets and totally spaced - realized it when I saw the concert mentioned on the local newscast that night. I was sooooo bummed! Had been doing waaaay too much and just forgot. So glad you got to actually see / hear him three times! |

What a fun post. I love to hear stories of when people hit the jackpot on gift giving. (I'm hoping to do the same this year with the help of one of our Peas.)
The neat part is that it's a gift for you as well. The satisfaction of nailing gift-giving for sure, but also the delight in getting to enjoy him playing.

I am jumping up and down with joy for your Dh! What an awesome surprise.
We are guitar people, Dh, Ds and I have played for years. You can't go wrong with a Taylor, they are beautifully made here in the U.S. and sound wonderful. I am currently thinking about another guitar, (I have a Martin) and the Taylor GS Mini is on my possibilities list.
I wish him many hours of pickin' and grinnin'!
