My SO has been working out of town for the past two weeks. The job was supposed to be one week...that didnt happen. Well he's leaving again tomorrow for another week. I'm all alone when he's gone and it's so hard to get in the Christmas spirit.

I would look at it as "me time"...bubble bath, nap time, you are in control of the remote and the thermostat, take-out food, no leg shaving, read for hours interrupted. Set up a lunch or dinner with a friend. Visit an elderly relative or neighbor(bring hot cocoa and cookies). If you schedule a few things, you'll have things to do and the week will go by faster.
I love being alone. Sorry you dislike it so much.

We'll keep you company. What do you like to do that will fill your time? Do you like to rent movies? Read? What can you do for yourself that will help the week to pass quickly?

The past two weeks were easier as I had all my holiday baking orders to do. This week I've got nothing. If it doesn't snow I guess I'll go to my sisters house to bake cookies. I just hate being in this house alone.

I just hate being in this house alone. I just looked at your etsy, I love your cookie decorating kits. I gotta get on it next year, it's just the thing my grown son and I would do together with a glass of two of wine!

I was away last week taking care of my friend who had hip replacement surgery. My husband said he hated being at the house alone and was glad to have me home. I get your feelings. When you're used to having someone around and enjoy them being there, it does feel lonely when they're gone.
Post here more while he's gone and your cookie orders are down. We're always up to chatting about just about anything!

It seems like an especially lonely time of year to be alone. But you are never truly alone when you are a Pea. Have you decorated? Are you listening to Christmas music? I see you might go to your sister’s to bake... since you bake for work, do you find that you don’t bake for fun? Do you make any wonderful Christmas dinner desserts? I’m not feeling a bunch of Christmas joy this year, but I’m working on it. I haven’t decorated as I haven’t been well enough to haul out the boxes, but that is being worked on. I started listening to Christmas music.. a mix of vintage records and Spotify. It’s always my job to make the Yule Log for Christmas dinner... we fill ours with coffee whipped cream. This year I’d like to decorate it a little fancier than I normally do, but haven’t found quite the right inspiration yet. Meringue mushrooms have been on my bucket list for a few years, but I admit all of the example images I’ve looked up of meringue mushroom covered Yule Log look appetizing in absolutely zero regard.

Bummer. I don't usually mind when dh travels but 3 weeks is a lot. My dh is actually going to be gone most of this week, home just Wednesday night, basically to sleep then gone again till Friday. Day after Christmas he and yds are leaving to visit family down south for a week so I'm planning to spend the week redecorating our bedroom; I figure that gives me something to keep me busy and look forward to (plus they won't be under foot ) Do you have any projects that you could tackle? Maybe even cleaning out a closet or something?

I'm all alone when he's gone and it's so hard to get in the Christmas spirit. I understand your feelings of being alone and the whole Christmas spirit thing. Is it possible for you to bake some of your fabulous cookies and give them to a senior center or to a homeless shelter? I am alone due to life circumstances and it is very difficult to get into the Christmas spirit. (((hugs))) from me to you.

Thanks everyone I appreciate it. Been busy today getting SO packed and spending time together. We'll be heading out in a little over an hour to meet his car pool ride. I'm out of the decorated cookie business for the rest of the year. I'm back in my wrist brace for the foreseeable future, it happens every year carpal tunnel has hit again I woke up in pain with numb fingers. Yuck so I'm just going to relax for the week and spend time with my sister. I'll probably end up making too many kinds of easy cookies but I do love trying new recipes.

My husband travels a lot for work, too, but I knew that before I married him 20 years ago. I still miss him as much as I did when we were newlyweds. Everyone is different in terms of how well they do spending time alone. I'm sorry you're having such a bad time. I'm not nuts about it, but I take time to do things I really enjoy, like quilting, reading, and paper crafting. That makes the time pass more enjoyably. Being alone makes me all the more happy when my man IS home. I don't take him for granted like some of my friends do their husbands. Hang in there and best wishes for a happier holiday season!

I love a weekend home alone, but 3 weeks in a row would be tough.
I hope you find fun ways to occupy your time.

Welcome to my world for the next 18 months. My husband is work8ng 2.5 hours away and neither of us like the location enough to make a temporary move,
I find I have to keep either the radio or the tv on all day so I don’t end up talking to myself! You have an advantage over me- family close by. We have gotten into the Christmas spirit by spending the weekend making candy and cookies to give to his co-workers and our friends. I will the evening cleaning the mess.

I have friends who keep a cookie collection that they have framed. I made a cookie bouquet for my sister once and she loved it to much to eat it....for about 8 months then she ate the hard cookies with coffee.

I hear you! Mine was just overseas for two weeks, got back last Thursday, and then he left again yesterday for a quick trip across the state (he'll be home tomorrow). I'm over it! I told him they need to learn to do things over Skype.

I know how you feel. Or at least I did know. I was in a long-distance relationship for a couple months. It was supposed to go on a bit longer than that but I have since moved to his town. Being separated from the one you love is pretty difficult. We will not be together for Christmas and he and I are both somewhat sad about that but we will be together for New Year’s so that is something we are looking forward to. Try to keep yourself busy and hopefully he will be with you soon.

I'm all alone when he's gone and it's so hard to get in the Christmas spirit. I am so sorry you feel so alone with your SO gone. My DH has always had to travel for work, and it was so hard when we had small children. Now, I don't mind so much - partly because I am used to it and our children are grown and out of the house, and partly because I have realised that I am someone who needs 'alone' time. My DH is away this week until Thursday, and I am relishing the time alone. My 2 sisters have visited me from Australia in the past 3 months, and I have been travelling with them for most of that time. I think there was one day when I sent them off to explore Munich and stayed home, but apart from that, I have had company every day. DH left yesterday after lunch, and I was so glad to binge watch trash TV and eat what I wanted. I know that by Thursday, I will be glad to see him again, but I also know that by Jan 7th, I'll be happy for him to be back at work!

Today was awesome I spent the day shopping with my sister and then I spent the evening at her house doing dinner and game night with her and her kids. SO called in the middle of dinner to tell me he was on his way home. YAY so he's home early I'm happy.
