Yds and I might do a very quick mall trip for his gf or not. It's really up to him. His whole friend group is in town this week, so I'm happy to step back and let him enjoy his week. In this house when you work hard then you are more than welcome to play hard.
Not sure what to make for dinner. I'm thinking gyoza and steamed rice, cause yds loves that stuff. If he won't be home for dinner then I will make something else and I have no idea what that will be.
What's on your menu?
Have a week full of grins and happy moments.

Not sure...I am headed to my friend's cookie exchange and we will have lunch about 1:30...maybe the sushi I bought yesterday at Wegmans that I never ate.
Hope everyone is holding their own for this upcoming crazy week.

I am home alone until Thursday, as DH is in Sweden again for work. I have had a lovely, peaceful day today. I went to my German convo class for the first time since the start of October, which was fun - I need to get back into speaking German after so long away from it. Then I did a bit of shopping and came home. I have bought enough food that I shouldn't have to grocery shop again until Thursday! I am trying to put together a basic menu for the end of the week and weekend, as we have so many days without shops open coming up.
Tonight I am going to make a yellow Thai curry with chicken and vegetables which I will eat with brown rice.

Today, I have a busy schedule. I have no idea for dinner but a trip to the grocery store may help.

It's bitterly cold here, so I made a stew. Sort of. Minced beef, onions, tomatoes, ratatouille, rice, spices, sweet corn....I think I added something else as well, but it is more than 30 minutes ago, so I'm not really expected to remember it? But I do remember I want chocolate.....

scrapmaven....I'm so happy your "baby bird" is home, I'll bet having him and his gf around is helping you heal / HOPEFULLY forget any pain you're in! ( You haven't mentioned pain, and I know it's not your style to vent/ complain, but just wanted to tell you that IF you're in pain, I'm sorry, annnd sending you (( hugs !!)) Nurse Meaty, Nurse Sophie and I are praying for ya, annnnd, your wound BETTER be healing well, or your personal bulldog nurses will fly up there and tell that wound who's boss! KelleeM.....Thanks for the small giggle I had when I read "Chinese Pie" I'm not sure what's for din-din yet. I'm planning on making lotsa cookies to give away, annnnd, I just hope I don't "over-sample" all the doughs like I always do, then end up with a tummy full of yummy cookie doughs (a HAPPY tummy, hee hee.....but....I don't neeeed to be eating so much sugar, and then....there's allll that yummy butter, roasted pecans, nuts, oh my!!!) I'll also be making one of my dearest friends and niece's always-requested banana bread! OMG, I cannot waaaaaiiiiit for our road trip !!!!! Not only our families, but my dear friend, her DH (who is like a brother to me), annnnd their 2 precious daughters. We don't always get to see them every year at Christmas when we're visiting, because visiting various family members takes up most/ all of our visit time, so we haven't seen them in a few years....it is going to make my heart SO HAPPYYY to see them again!!! I also considered going by the place I worked before we moved. I LOVED my job and have stayed in touch with many co-workers. Aside from leaving our dear families when we moved away, it was SO HARD to leave that job and the awesome people ...ugh! Meaty and Sophieeee send (( Hugs )) and sweet bulldog kisses to everyone! Anybully who's having a rough (RUFF) time, we're praying for ya! Meaty's saying "heyyyy, WHY did you need to get a blow-up bulldog when you have US ?!!?"

My heart is happy. Last night I had all my kids under the same roof! As they get older and have their own lives it gets harder and harder.
I'm sure all us college moms are happy to have the kiddos home.
Tonight for dinner I am just going to make burgers and fries. Easy and everyone likes it.
I have all my shopping done and mostly wrapped and under the tree! It's the first time that I can remember that I am actually ahead of the game. I feel zero stress!!
Hope you all have a great, stress free day!

I was out early running errands and came home to find a box of Bergeron Pecans from my best friend in Louisiana. She sends them every year *to help me remember my southern girl heritage.* They are absolutely the best and I look forward to making pralines and pecan pies this week.
No idea what's for dinner. Maybe ribs.

If I'm home it will be a turkey and wild rice casserole that I always make with Thanksgiving leftovers (that I froze). DD and I are trying to figure out if we can both clear our schedules to run out and finish up some shopping at the mall. If that works out, DH and DSs will be on their own. Which DH will dearly love (truly) because he can take "the boys" out for pizza. DS has been busy since he got home for Christmas break so I know DH would enjoy spending the time with them and I don't think they have anything else planned tonight.

Hope you all have a great, stress free day! The most joyous moments are the ones where everyone is home. Yds' gf has finals through Wed. She had better plan a big visit on Thursday. She was very happy when she saw that she had a stocking here. I'm gonna spoil her rotten this year.
Oh no, KelleeM , not Chinese pie. I'm glad you have rechauffe to enjoy, so that you can avoid that delightful meal.
psiluvu , only 2 more sleeps and then your kiddo will be home safe and sound.
If anyone needs me I'll be at cadoodlebug's house imaginary eating pralines and pecan pie, two of my favorite sweets. Pecan pie is my favorite pie.
scrappintoee , I have two wonderful wound care nurses taking good care of me, but I think I'd heal faster if I had nurse Sophie and Nurse meaty here to cuddle. Not sure how my pussycats would react, but it's all about bulldog love. I am in some pain, but not nearly the amount that I have had from past surgeries. The biggest problem is the fatigue. I hate feeling this weak during baking week. Boxes of HoHo's for everyone. J/K.
My dinner plan is now teriyaki chicken, steamed rice and veggie. I need yds to pick up the rice at the store, because I ran out w/o realizing it. Normally, we have 15 lb bags of rice in the closet, but we had an issue w/bugs getting into the rice. Now we're completely out.

KelleeM, I too had a giggle when I saw Chinese pie on the menu. psiluvu, Chinese pie is something kelleem’s DH makes that he loves and she hates. No one can ever remember what’s actually in it (a variation of cottage pie, maybe?) but we know how passionately kelleem feels on the subject. I am finally making chicken soup tonight. I think. We’ll see. I have an extra boy here today, one of the step grandsons who is out of school already (mine is in a different school district and still has this week to go) and needed a place to go. We’re doing fine but that’s because I let him play on the computer all morning. I’m going to start reading him the first Percy Jackson book after lunch. He won’t read it on his own, but I’m hoping to get him interested.

It was only DS and I home for dinner (I can’t remember the last time all four of us ate together!!) and I was late getting home so I thought I’d get takeaway. DS wanted Maccas so we had that again for the second time in about three days. I don’t even really like McDonalds, apart from the hash browns. But I wanted to try the McRib. It was okay actually.

I'm feeling like a 'real' meal tonight after a week or so of bits and pieces from the freezer. We'll be dining on baked flounder, steamed rice, brussel sprouts, and salad.

psiluvu yes, Chinese Pie is a French Canadian/American term for shepard’s/cottage pie which I actually like but dh’s version is rather bland and not a favorite of mine. I did tell him I’d eat it since I have beef gravy to pour over it but I enjoyed roast beef and veggies instead!

Since it's just me again this week and I'm determined not to skip meals (last week I ate maybe 4 times total the entire week I was so busy) I had a French bread pizza. Not healthy I know but good.

I came home late to find DH had made dinner. Sounds great, right? Not really. I'm not sure what he did, but it looks like a bomb went off in the kitchen. I didn't say anything, just smiled. He will clean it up (eventually).

We went out for dd’s birthday. DH & I shared risotto balls and a margarita pizza. It was filling so no dessert. I’m of the mindset that cake should be served at birthdays. My kids grew up that way but do not share my love of cake. scrapmaven I hope you heal quickly

Son and I made pork chop sandwiches and fried onion rings.
( if you are from Montana you know what a pork chop sandwich is. Mine are much better than john’s or the freeway)

Turkey meat sauce with added spinach with orchiette and broccoli. It was great. We both really liked it. Then Christmas cake for dessert. It was great.
