Just once...I’d love to visit one of those gorgeously bustling, beautifully decorated, super friendly, awesomely awesome Christmas towns shown on every Lifetime/Hallmark Christmas show!!! Lol
(I’m sick these last few days so it’s been a few days of watching nonstop holiday shows!!!)

Yes! Peppermint hot chocolate available on every street corner and a friendly lady in a diner just dying to give you advice and some cookies. I was telling some friends recently that I desperately need to exist in a world where my biggest problem is whether or not the gingerbread house contest goes off without a hitch.
I did tell my husband, though, that I would love to see a “where are they now?” special for all of the people who arrive in those towns from the big city and decide to stay. How is living in that town going when it’s not all special and decked out for the holidays, lol.

I imagine it would be like Bluebell, Alabama in Hart of Dixie. I looked up Bluebell once because I dreamed of living there.

I live close to Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario, Canada. It has been named the "Prettiest town in Ontario (or Canada?).
Since this area is also a very historical area, they have the Candlelight Walk in early December and all kinds of events, all seasons.
It is close (15 min drive), so I can absorb the "pretty town feel" and not drive too far. Many movies and tv shows have used NOTL in the background.

I want to do the same thing. I even searched the internet for a place like that so I can go there - but they must not exist. Wouldn't it be great to go there?

A couple of the Hallmark movies were filmed in the small town in Georgia I used to live in. It’s a very sanitized version of the town. The partly restored downtown looks lovely on tv, but the vacant businesses are still sitting empty. I sound really jaded, and maybe I am a little, having seen first hand that rural, small town America is not always as quaint as it seems in books and tv.

We were there in mid October one year, it was so pretty. And there was Michael Buble music playing as we walked among the shops. It just felt so perfect.

We went three years ago the week before Christmas and it was fabulous. There were stations set up all over the park where you could walk up and get unlimited cups of hot cocoa and cookies for free (or apple slices, for those people who didn’t want to eat so many cookies, LOL). The lines for all the rides were really short because it was held after hours when the park was normally closed and the whole place was decorated to the nines with pretty lights and festive decorations, they had a special parade and holiday light show at Cinderella’s Castle, and it was seriously great. I’d like to go back sometime for one of their Halloween parties, I think that would be awesome too.

There was actually a few scenes filmed in a town in my state. It's on Lifetime and called Jingle Belle. It was funny because it was in the summer they did the filming. The fake snow was hilarious! You could see bright green lawn peeking out from the snow, it would be deader than dead. The cafe with an old fashioned counter and wood booths and the courthouse are the only things I did recognize. I don't think they got any mountain shots for the "Ohio town". I'd want something from Christmas Story or Wishin' and Hopin'. I couldn't handle all the sap.
ETA: The outside isn't as lovely looking and it's supposedly haunted. I have no idea why that is in German either!
