Well it’s not Cadbury that’s for sure. The taste just isn’t the same since it was taken over by a US company I’m afraid to say. Lindt is delicious though 🙂

My favorite chocolate is the chocolate I grew up with in Germany-German chocolate. But since I now live in the USA in the past year I found Theo organic chocolate bars and I really like them. They are made with few processed ingredients and are organic. What is most important to me is that they are fair trade and the company sources 70% of it's cocoa from the Republic of the Congo since 2010. By doing so and by working with the ECI and ESCO they have helped the region emerge from crisis by working with local farmers. They way they do to me is exciting and important. They make sure it is to benifit the local farmers, to educate the local community about health and many other projects. You can read about it at theochocolate.com
After reading reports that some chocolate companies like Lindt (in the USA) and a few others I can't think of at this moment were sourcing their cocoa from places that used child slaves I've been very careful about where I buy chocolate. I don't eat much anymore anyway, but I do like something sweet after dinner. The Theo bars are excellent. I can eat 2 very small squares after dinner, let them melt in my mouth and be satisfied. They have an assortment of great seasonal Christmas flavors that I think you can get on Amazon if you want to try them. If this picky "German girl" likes them I'm sure you will too.

Speaking of chocolate... have any of you tried the Taza brand? My granddaughter is crazy about dark, dark chocolate and in researching I ran across this brand. It's organic, is Fair Trade and above from what I read. But is it a really good chocolate? Anyone here have an opinion about it?

Wild Ophelia has a cookies and cream white chocolate bar that is my current favorite. It's fair trade, non GMO, and is a female owned company that supports female entrepreneurs.

birukitty I just had a Theo bar for the first time the other day and loved it. I had the milk chocolate, but it was richer than the usual milk bars, kind of earthy, not cloyingly sweet, and just slightly bitter. Husband and I pinky fought over the last piece. Good background information about them, TFS. It will help me justifying buying more

My favorite is probably See's Candies as I like chocolate with nuts or brittle. I find that the texture of their chocolate is creamy and not overly sweet.

I love See’s California brittle. They sell a good dark chocolate candy bar with salt crystals at the 99 cent store from France. Forgot name. In box.

Aldi's has great chocolate. I like the Aldi 85% chocolate. It's very smooth for a super dark chocolate and I love the little individually wrapped bars. I also like the Ghiradelli 86% a lot but it's getting harder to find in my area.

Haighs....made in south Australia. Properly tempered for a nice crack when you bite it,smooth and creamy....heaven in a word. A whole box of their dark choc peppermint creams would be my last meal on earth I have eaten Swiss choc in Switzerland, Belgian in Belgium,German in Germany and Ghiradelli in San Fran...and none come close IMO

Hotel Chocolat is amazing. I bought sample gift sets as a Thank You for the Nurses when I left hospital earlier this year.Proved very popular. I have to avoid looking at the promotions they send as it is too expensive for everyday chuffing. £500 box of chocs anybody?

I grew up in England and Germany so it has always been Cadbury and Rittersport. I also love Lindt. I LOVE the Rittersport hazelnut chocolate. Lidl has one very similar that I stock up on. Unfortunately Hershey and other chocolates just don't cut it.

I'm sure the stone-ground texture is off-putting to some, but I like it. It's not a creamy chocolate for sure.

Wilbur chocolate is my favorite. It was local to where I grew up in Lititz Pa, I never seen it sold in stores, though I'm sure it is somewhere. I can buy it online now.
