Hey, TwoPeas closed up and I didn't even know it until a couple of days ago! Obviously I hadn't been regularly checking the boards but I had been a Pea since 1999. I was pretty regular to the NSBR board for a long time but then life happened and I just didn't get back there much. I would lurk occasionally but didn't really post. I liked checking out the threads with recipes and suggestions on new music and books even though I didn't post very often. So let's see I'll tell you what's been going on with me and you all can catch me up on what's been happening here. These are the highlights: - I became a grandma to a cute little girl. - Hubby and I got custody of said cute little girl - Cute little girl was diagnosed with autism and it rocked our world - I abandoned scrapbooking for my new love of sewing - Opened a sewing and fabric store and thought I had really found my groove - Was diagnosed with a rare form of kidney cancer and had to close up shop - Have been cancer free for over a year and starting to feel better each day So what's been going on with the Peas (or should I say former peas)? Oh, and you guys probably won't even recognize the avatar pic because somewhere in there I lost about 115 pounds too.

Welcome! Glad you found us! Be sure to look around the new place to see what the FairyPodMother (our fearless leader/admin) has done with it. There's a section for recipes (Burning Feather's Italian Beef, those great Dead Aunt Cookies, etc), TwoPeas history and legends (the dog stole baby Jesus, I want to pick up my turkey on Thanksgiving Day, etc), and of course scrappy boards too.

Oh I've gotta read the pea legends. Where is that board? That's the kind of stuff I would lurk and read when I got really board! LOL

That is such a cute name! Is she in grade 2? My parents and I live together with my son and the time we have together is precious. My parents wouldn't have traded the time with their grandson for anything in the world!

She is in second grade. My hubby and I have sole custody of her. Her mom comes to see her once a week on her day off but doesn't live here with us. It is not what I pictured my life looking like at this stage but I'm so glad that we've been able to get her in the therapies that she needs and work with her on her delays, etc.

Families all have difficulties and challenges unfortunately. We didn't plan on this either but it has worked out very well for all of us. We are very happy and travel together and do all sorts of things. It has been so rewarding so there are even more good times left to come! Retirement might have been nice but us like you and your husband are rewarded in different ways!

Welcome and glad you found us. I am currently more or less raising my 5yo grandson. His dad does live here, too, but he's always at work. That child is the light of my life. Not what we expected to be doing, no, but oh so precious.

So glad you found us! Congrats on kicking cancer's butt! Also, congrats on the weight loss! Your fabric store sounds wonderful, sorry you had to close it, but it looks like things have worked out well for you!
I know you are loving having your granddaughter. My DD, her DH, our DGD and baby due in Feb. have been with us since June. (they are moving here, and waiting for their house in the former town to sell before they buy a new one). It's had stressful moments, but I wouldn't take anything for the time we've had with DGD daily - it's much different from occasional weekend visits.
Welcome back!

Thanks for the warm welcome everybody! I think it really is true that you can check in but you can never check out of the NSBR board. I checked in last night after not posting for a long long time and here I am again first thing this morning! LOL
