We are thinking of redoing our kitchen, We have oak cabinets now and they are dated. I think.... Along with all the oak trim in our house.
I am leaning towards painting the cabinets Grey... and having white trim..... the walls now are a light tan.. UGH so many things to think about and do
Does anyone have a kitchen they are willing to share, Grey, White, Tan?
Also if you have the names of the paint you used that would be great too...
Thanks,

I have none to share, but I was very close to putting grey cupboards and cabinets in my kitchen when I redid it five years ago. I do love my white cupboards, but feel a slight bit of regret whenever I see grey ones in a kitchen!
I say go with what feels right to you. I wanted to paint my kitchen walls deep, deep saturated blue and it took me several years before I finally did, and it’s been over a year now and I smile at those walls every day!

Mine are a very, very pale grey, and almost read white, until you compare them to the white walls. The color is BM Moonshine. (Ignore the everyday clutter and green tape on one wall... we are trying to finalize the height of the backsplash.)

Are you planning on painting your walls, too? I think making grey and tan work together cohesively will be really tricky, unless you go with more of a darker charcoal.
Are you planning on painting them yourselves? Oak cabinets have a lot of grain, but you can mitigate that by using a grain-filler, or accept and embrace the grain. I will snap a couple of photos and show you what I mean... gimme a minute.
We painted our doors (new maple) using a paint sprayer and BM Advance paint, and they are flawless, but it has a long dry time between coats, so it’s definitely not fast. I used a brush/roller (with the same paint on the same doors, but a different color) in our laundry room, and the paint there does show some subtle texture.

I repainted my kitchen in April. I went with taupe. Medium for the cabinets, lighter on the walls and orange painted in the soffit that goes all the way around. I had dark brown cabinets and medium brown walls. Now my kitchen seems much bigger and lighter.

We have white cabinets and grey walls. I didn’t choose them—we rent. (Military family) I have to admit that I don’t like my kitchen. It’s really white—this photo doesn’t show how white it is. The backsplash is glass tile and the wall color shows through. I think if they had done a deeper, bluer shade of the wall color, it would have been pretty. Now it’s just blah. I also don’t like the island. It’s small and the cooktop is in the island, making a lot of unusable space to meal prep or serving buffet style. If they had turned the island 90 degrees and pushed it out into the open space, there is room for a big island. The uppermost cabinets provide a lot of storage, but can’t be reached by me without an actual ladder. Keep that in mind if you are short! We also have a large pantry that you can’t see. I really love it and keep all our food in there, except spices. It’s just so convenient to go in there and see everything at once. There is also room for paper goods, as well as some big pots and baking items. Love it! Another thing that I like is the side counter to the right in the photo. DH has all of his coffee stuff over there and stays out of my way when messing with coffee stuff. We also have a cabinet for the dog and all of her leashes, treats, etc, another for meds (I’m diabetic and get my supplies 3 months at a time), as well as a catch all cabinet where I keep things like large bowls and beverage servers I use for parties. I like the farmhouse sink. It has 2 sections—a large sink and a smaller side sink. Just know that between the large apron and the disposal, you lose a lot of storage under the sink. The cabinet above the stove may be my favorite part of the kitchen. It has dividers there for baking sheets, cutting boards, trays, platters, etc. I like that it all stores vertically and is easy to get to.

Okay, here’s the door, paint sprayed on maple: Here’s an end panel on our island, which is oak: And here’s the laundry room, which was rolled instead of sprayed:

I just had all of our main areas painted a light/medium gray. We have a gray/tan rug, gray couch (teal ottoman) and tan/cream (teal) curtains. The stack stone we use for the fireplace has cream/tan/gray in it. I’m using gray/tan/cream and teal/orange/red/green (mostly the first 2 colors) as accents in my decor. Not my kitchen, of course, but just to show how the colors can coordinate.

Not a kitchen, but a bathroom. In 2012 we redid our front bathroom and went with gray cabinets, lighter gray walls and white trim. I still love those cabinets after all these years! I'll have to dig around and see if I have a photo handy to post. The cabinets are SW Englewood Cliffs #1607. The walls are SW Argos #7065 and the trim is SW Snowfall White #0C-118.

I like gray and did consider it briefly for my cabinets, but I really love a white kitchen and I don’t want to regret a color later. I know most would consider my reno palette boring but I’m doing white cabinets (stacked to the ceiling), white subway backsplash and Carrara marble countertops (or the same look in quartz depending on budget). Floors will be tile and match the color of my oak floors so there’s no obvious break between the kitchen and dining room. We’re removing the wall between those rooms so I can add storage and counter space with an island. The floors are tile since I am putting in radiant floors.
All this white is true to the period of my 1922 house and I look forward to how clean it’s gonna look. The wall space I do have I plan to go with a charcoal gray. I will carry that into my dining room on the walls above our paneling. The wall paneling in the dining room is white and 5 ft tall, so the wall space above with the gray won’t make the room too dark. Also, those two rooms are on the north side of the house and get the least amount of natural light.

Beautiful kitchens everyone.
I have to agree I would die to have birch trees out my window.
We redid our kitchen a few years ago and did everything in shades of white and cream. Our cabinets are very creamy white, counters are white quartz, backsplash is white tile and walls are a really pretty grey/cream.

I have grey cabinets. I've never figured out how to post photos here, mostly because I don't want to host them elsewhere first. I love them. My kitchen has a very cool feel to it though because all the colors I used are cool colors. Greys, white, black, blue, silver.

We did our master bath cabinets in gray. My tip - do NOT let your DH pick the paint, LOL. We used SW Mindful Gray on the walls. Our main level is that color and we love it. I told him to pick a darker gray from the SAME paint strip. He did not listen. Now the cabinets and walls are lovely, but they do NOT match. I could have killed him.
Someday I'll have the cabinets repainted.

I painted one of the bathrooms with it and like it, but would like to see how it looks in a bigger area with better light.

OMG !! Are those birch trees outside your window ?? I would soooo love to look at those every day. Love. Love. Love. They are quaking aspens, which look very similar to birch trees, but aren’t related. I LOVE where we live, and my property is just covered in these and pine trees. The views are gorgeous every direction. Here’s a picture I just took out that window: Just to give an idea for scale, there’s a white post in the bottom left corner, next to the pine tree. We use it to measure snow (currently 2 ft) and the post itself is 6 feet tall. These trees are massively tall. And, just for fun, here’s my street in the winter:

That’s gorgeous. What sort of style/color backsplash are you doing? We are using handmade terra-cotta tiles. They are a small brick (2x6), and the glaze reacts differently to the clay, so the color varies with each tile. This is them, in a traditional grouted install: I’m also considering a dry stack install, where there’s no grout, but I can’t decide if that’s ridiculous to do in a kitchen. I love the rustic charm, though! This is the same color as above (and the one we got) just a different shape:

Gennifer nice kitchen I love to see people’s pictures of redos Thank you! We’ve been doing a top-to-bottom DIY renovation of our whole house since we moved here two and a half years ago, and I will be glad when it’s all finished... hopefully this summer. I will totally bore everyone with pictures when we get it done, but here’s a glimpse of the “before” kitchen. It was so bad.

After 3 years, I still love it. The kitchen cabinet on the right looks green, but it's white. It's just bad lighting. We did glass tile for the backsplash, after this photo. It's blue, gray, and white random tiles. living room by Mikk lynn, on Flickr Kitchen by Mikk lynn, on Flickr
