We're looking to buy 2 cameras for the summer camp I run. The cameras would mostly be used by various college-aged kids on our staff, who may or may not be photography savvy. What I think we're looking for is:
no interchangeable lens/DSLR, but decent zoom capacity does not need fancy settings, in fact, the simpler the better needs to take good photos inside or out relatively inexpensive - ideally no more than $200 each, but we can go more if warranted ideally long battery life easy to understand how to use easy to download photos photos will be used 99% digitally, for website and slide shows, so adequate resolution for those purposes
We do want a standalone camera. Using cell phones or ipads has been tried in the past and does not work well.
Thank you for any suggestions! And feel free to ask any clarifying questions!

For point and shoot I have always loved Canon Powershots. They’re easy to use, come with total/some manual controls (good for the kids who know what they’re doing/want to learn about photography), but also come with a wide array of auto/creative zones. It’s been about 8 years since I’ve bought a new one, but I always trust canon to make a user friendly point and shoot! I would def head into a store to check out the lastest couple of models.

Thanks for the recommendations! I used various versions of those for many years as my "purse" camera and only changed with the last purchase I got because I needed some additional particular options. I'll look into what's currently on the market, but hearing both of you recommend them as well makes me feel pretty confident here!
