I spent Saturday at a robotics tournament with ds14. Our rookie team advanced! Came in top 4 out of 13. Also they got an award for presenting their project.
I made a huge dent in cleaning and clearing out my bedroom. Giving away some of my stuff and a lot more of dh’s. Anything else the boys think we need to keep will be stored in the attic instead of the bedroom. I don’t know if you guys remember I bought bedding and stuff to redo my bedroom. Still been waiting on that. It’s GOING TO HAPPEN this year! I’m so much closer and am going to start looking at new furniture soon.

Thanks to getting enough sleep (a rarity for me), I went on a cleaning bender. Cleaned the house top to bottom, then cleaned out my closet and dresser drawers, and reorganized them. Then I cleaned out my jewelry box and organized what I kept. Then I cleaned out the kitchen cabinets. I had energy to burn. I also have a big pile of stuff to get rid of.

Absolutely nothing! It snowed here and we hunkered down on the couch. I did make a big meal on Saturday. Does that count?

I corrected papers for 20 hours. 20 freaking hours. This big project at the end of the term kills me. And I will put in 14+ hour days every day this week. Good thing I love the kids. That sounds painful. I dreaded getting research papers (even at the ten year old level) because they were long and sometimes poorly written. The worst was to grade for hours each weekend and then see the stack of papers (or just the bad ones) get thrown in the trash as they walked out the door on Fridays. After about 20 years of teaching, I told myself I would not bring home lesson plans, grading, and other school work because my own kids deserved to see me at least on the weekends. I did have to put in lots of extra hours during the week to get there though. Maybe you could give extra credit to the kids who turn the project in early so it all doesn't fall on your plate in one week?

My husband will be home tomorrow from Afghanistan. He hasn’t been home and we haven’t seen him in 15 months!!! I’ve been trying to clean and organize stuff around the house that have been neglected that long, primarily his closet. It became the catch-all for things that I didn’t know what to do with. I finally found the floor of it last night . I also went through and destroyed about 20lbs. of old receipts - that’s a huge accomplishment. I’m bad about letting them build up. How absolutely exciting for you and your family!

Not this weekend but since January 1, I’ve purged bins and bins and bins of DS1’s clothing that we’d saved since he was a baby in case we ever got a DS2. Now that we have DS2, the seasonality and proportions are all off and he grows so slowly that it will be years and years til he can wear any of it. It’s already taken up room for years and years. I sold a lot to a couple of second hand stores and donated the rest. I’ve also taken two more carloads of donation stuff out of the garage.
I sold my wedding China and donated our wedding everyday dishes. We never used the China and while I loved the other stuff, we hadn’t used it in 3 years because as Stoneware, it was too heavy for our kids and for our cabinets in our aging house.
I got rid of 3 crockpots-I’m committed enough to my IPs now to let the crocks go.
Today I purged DS1s room while he was at school.

Been working on it for a couple weeks but just finished today matching pictures from the last four years to scrapbook paper! I’m ready for at least the next 8-10 scrapbook retreats. It filled three huge tote bags with matched kits. Ok, I'm impressed! Wow!

I didn’t even get caught up on my tv watching. That’s how freaking tired I was. That was me last weekend. I was sick, achy, and feverish, and I just stayed in bed. I missed all the fun of DD's move into her first apartment, but I looked so bad she didn't even care. Hope you got caught up on your rest! Marcy

I feel very lazy and probably could have stayed in bed all day, both days. Instead, I did get some stuff done: - took down Christmas decorations outside - prepared and planted the front beds for spring - prepped the soil and planted a bunch of poppies and sweet peas for early spring bloom - Hiked 5 miles each day and did a session with my personal trainer - registered my middle kid for the SAT, SAT subject tests AND the ACT (Junior year is hard!) - just tried to research which schools my senior needs to send mid-year reports to (Senior year is hard!) - took my youngest out to sushi just he and I - vacuumed, cleaned etc. What kind of poppies did you plant? Mine never come up! Marcy

Saturday was a lazy day for DH and I. He went to his office to do paperwork and I lounged around. Last night was date night, so we went for sushi and a trip to Best Buy and Sephora. Today I cleaned house and did laundry. LOTS of laundry. I got my menu planned for the week and a grocery list made. This week we are eating out of the freezer so I won't have much on my grocery list. I'm putting food in the freezer as well as planning on eating out of it. I got a great buy on pork butt a bit ago and I'm just getting around to cooking all of them. One more to go! What do you have in your freezer? Marcy

I got to enjoy the winter weekend we had. I hate heat. It was 11c here and clear and this was the weekend I love to think about in July. It sounds corny but today and yesterday even though I am under the weather was awesome!!! I'm sorry you aren't feeling well, Elannah, but I'm glad you're enjoying the weather. I'm not a fan of cold. I remind myself that not enough cold means a bumper year for bugs, but that the only thing I like about cold weather. Given that I live in GA, we don't see a lot of it. Marcy

Vacuumed and mopped my whole house. Cleaned some of the grout, washed all my dh’s work rags (we own a window cleaning biz), finished my Valentines Day wreath that I started three years ago, butterflied a package of chicken that I got at Sam’s (trimmed, my ass), dusted my living room and dining room. I’m glad I did it all. I feel accomplished. Wow! Just, wow! What did you make with the chicken? Marcy

Cleaned out the fridge & pantry - then made a mental note to stop buying food we're not going to eat! Mary K Yes!! DD and I made a real effort to try to cut down on waste. I keep a list of what's in the fridge and when we bought it and that helps a lot. I also started vermi composting so when I do let things go bad, at least my worms get a treat. LOL It's been hard to go from cooking for a family to cooking for just 2. When I finally get the hang of it, my mom or DD come stay. LOL Marcy

I got all of the Christmas stuff packed up and ready to go out to the shed (it was pouring yesterday). That is always such a relief.
I got my laundry washed and folded.
I scrapbooked my new granddaughter's birth photos on Sat and gave the album to her parents last evening. It had the entire pregnancy and her hospital photos all documented. I told them I will add to it as the baby has pics taken with relatives and friends, and start volume 2.
I caught up on my recorded shows for the week.
And, my biggest achievement: I washed all of the new parents' dirty dishes by hand. I never wash dishes unless I am at the shore with my mom. I just can't stand it and DH always does it. But when I saw the new parents didn't have a clean dish or utensil, I rolled up my sleeves and managed to slosh water all over my shirt and got everything scrubbed. My son had never seen me wash a dish, haha! This is me with mopping. My DD was fascinated by her grandma's mop when she was little. We finally realized she had never seen me mop because I didn't. We had a cleaning crew every month and I just Swiffered in between. LOL Now grown, DD loves to mop, and I love for her to do so, anytime she pleases. Congrats on the new grand! Totally envious! Marcy

We use these funny Italian themed bowl/plates most of the time. I bought some seasonal plastic plates last year to replace the paper plates my DH love to use. I think my whole matched set cost about $3. LOL Best buy ever! Marcy

Marcy We have a bunch of beef to use - a couple roasts, a brisket, etc. Nothing that exciting. Going to make @burningfeathers Italian beef this week and use it one of them up. I also have a big bag of chicken breasts to use up - so I made chicken tenders tonight for dinner and roasted some veggies to go with that. The surprising thing in my freezer is I have a bunch (like 2 boxes!) of Popsicles - the bomb pop ones. Apparently when my son had his tonsils out last month, he didn't eat a single one of those while he was recovering.

It’s been a rough couple of weeks here. My stepfather passed away on New Year’s Day and we had to travel out of town for the previous weekend. Then when we got home, I promptly got sick, it was all I could do to get the kids ready for school. All told, I really didn’t get anything done for 2 weeks. Although I’m still sick, I did feel well enough to take down the Christmas decorations, get caught up on laundry & clean the house. (My kids did help, DH was out of town). I also dragged myself to the grocery store on Friday ahead of the snowstorm we got Saturday. I gave my crockpot a workout, used it every night including tonight. I knew I wouldn’t feel like cooking & I didn’t want to rely on take out or frozen.

I cook big batches of breasts and shred and freeze them. One bottle of salsa verde will season a crockpot or IP full of chicken breasts, especially if you add a couple cans of chili peppers. I love having a bunch of ready to eat meals in the freezer. Do you batch cook and freeze or do you keep pretty much raw items in your freezer? Amongst your popsicles? GRIN Marcy

GRIN Marcy I really don't do much batch cooking unless I am cooking extra chicken for my lunches. Since my boys are practically grown + gone, I will make one dinner but we usually have enough for leftovers for the next day or so for DH and I. I am actually a not a good cook so I am constantly looking for easy things to throw together. We go throw spells where we are eating out a bunch (because of kids sports, etc) and I am sick of eating out so this week I am determined to cook every day.

More than expected. We've been sick too here, right after Christmas with that virus going around. We're both feeling better, but I fell the other day over my dog still licking my wounds loll! But we finished our living room clean up from the holidays. Rearranged it, Dh did the heavy stuff. And vaccuming. Same with our bedroom. We have a chair that collects sweaters and long sleeve shirst, especially this time of year. We got it cleaned off and organized.ad the floors in there too. We still don't have our hardwood floor back together. From our 2nd flood. Hopefully this week. We did get new colors picked out yesterday and sent to the contractor. They love us right now. lol! But I'm so ready to be done with all of it and reclaim the whole house. So it was at least nice to rearrange things and get some stuff organized. again.
