Maybe its just these last few pages, but the old NSBR sounds like an awful place -- and it wasn't. I learned so much! When I first found it I was an overwhelmed, overworked, slightly dazed new mother and it was a relief to find others in the same boat or that had been there, done that. It opened my eyes to people who just wanted what I had (and that I took for granted). It helped me understand other points of view, other religions, other parts of the world. It was my secret online clubhouse where I laughed, cried, and coveted the coolest, dumbest, oddest scrapbook supplies ever. When it was bad, it was truly awful, but, oh when it was good it was fabulous!

Awww, don't sell yourself short, pjaye. Is it so impossible to believe that someone would like you? I see your avatar and think of your little girl Russian Blue and your love for her, and especially the lengths you went to in order to help her when she was sick. I don't see you as any kind of misfit. You are sharp as a whip and more than capable of handling yourself. You certainly don't need anyone to defend you. How odd that you would perceive things that way. I don't remember private messaging you at all, but if you say it happened then so be it. Although it's true that I've always liked you, and how could anyone be more of an expert on that than, well--me--it doesn't mean I have to like everything you do, and I would say so from time to time. I have noticed you seem to involve yourself in perhaps more than your share of message board arguments. I have not said a word to you since you asked me not to speak to you again. The last time, before this time, I believe was about drinking from mason jars or some such nonsense. Out of respect for you, I will go back to that--if you address me directly I'll assume we're back to interacting, does that sound acceptable to you?

I agree colleen . It never failed that I would go to the NSBR ready to post and ask for advice only to find that someone had asked or shared the same thing just a few hours earlier. I didn't post often (my thread count was bumped up considerably during that board glitch when every post counted 2 or 3 times) but I read a lot on that board - I was a military spouse and had a lot of nights alone after the kids were in bed and it just seemed weirdly comforting to know there was someone out there who understood my life, even if I wasn't the one sharing my stories.

She has her name in her signature and used the same or a similar avatar photo. I wouldn't pat myself on the back too hard It's pretty obvious that I have signatures turned off then isn't it?
Is that fake irony light flashing again?

Does anyone remember the cat loving polyamorous pea who had a DH and a boyfriend? One of them got cancer and the other helped to care for him until he passed away. Tracyarts

No, I was in a poly relationship for around 12 years but both my husband and other SO were fine. Unfortunately my other SO's dad developed a terminal illness and he couldn't cope with it emotionally. He refused to accept help, and ended up drinking too much, hanging out with really sketchy people, and completely derailing his life with a series of bad choices. I haven't spoken to him in a while, some of the people and things he brought into his life aren't safe to be around and I'm too sick to get dragged into it. All the recipes! There were lots and lots of those! Yes, loved all the recipes. I remember all the versions of Peas cookbooks and how much work was put into compiling them. Thank you to all those involved in that. I was here through all this. But i was standing back against a wall somewhere with my bag of popcorn.

I haven't read all of this thread, yet... but I do remember some of these stories. I also came from scrapjazz because of all the "veggie site" stories. I was curious, but was a lurker for the most part. Like someone else said, the mean girls would jump on you for anything. I just kept my mouth shut and read. I do remember a blonde lady with short hair named Penny something. She posted a lot. Seems like she was on here in the beginning and someone pissed her off or jumped her for something and she left? Am I remembering that right? Or was it on the old board? Like I said I haven't read all of this, so don't chew me out if it's already been posted... Pennyring is an old peaname that springs to mind.

Does anyone remember the pea, on this very board, who was diagnosed with advanced brain cancer and decided to forego treatment, against the will of her family and friends? I remember reading that on my phone when I was riding the train to work, and I wanted to remember who she was. She was comfortable with her decision and I just wanted to check in with her once in awhile, but I couldn't remember who it was or remember the thread title. I regret that I didn't. I believe that was Compwalla/Virginia. She was my most formidable opponent on Words With Friends. I was shocked and saddened to hear the news. She seemed so strong and at peace with everything. R.I.P., Virginia!

I joined the board around 2002 but didn't venture to NSBR for a while as I mainly hung out on the other boards. I actually discovered the 2Peas community via its Photography Board. I also loved the swap board and was very active there for a while. I did later start posting on the NSBR board and lurked often later, but I am surprised that many of these stories are unfamiliar to me.
I do recall the fundraiser for Lizz' second kidney transplant. I think her mini album detailing her first kidney transplant was featured in a scrapbook magazine. It was exciting to see her get married and then have a baby, but then there was the fundraiser fiasco.
I remember the Sydney story where it was discovered that "Sydney" was an LSS owner maybe? If my memory serves me correctly, someone had discovered that the picture of "Sydney" was actually a photo of a porn star. That's when everything began to unravel.
I do remember Cherrymoon's Diva Cup drawing. We're friends on Facebook and she actually posted another comedic drawing today. It was a warning about the perils of using the bathroom in the dark and having Clorox wipes next to your butt wipes. LOL She's also the one that was on The Jerry Springer Show. I think she won a second-chance wedding because her wedding ceremony was an epic disaster. THAT was a hilarious story!
I'm surprised no one mentioned the fights over Crockpots, Uncrustables, and those frozen bags of beef stew ingredients.

I came to 2peas from Lifetime Moments sometime late 2002, as my first post on 2 peas was my daughter Emily’s newborn pictures on 1/21/2003 (she turns 16 tomorrow). I got handslapped pretty hard once when I posted that we had just had a litter of Dachshunds. It took a lot to prove I was not a back yard breeder but was a part of a breeding program for the Piebald trait. I was also brought into some drama on the scrapbook board when I opened my scrapbook store in 2005 out of my house and was a competitor to Picture to Page and the other scrapbook store in Hampton Roads. I was told I was taking money from their kids, etc. I mainly sold online but did have quite a few locals that came to shop. I did feel bad for the other scrapbook store, I think the owner had cancer/brain tumor and ended up closing. I can not remember the name of the store though.
I remember most of all these stories. I did join another board of people who left 2peas but I was kicked out when I stopped scrapping. The rule for being there was you had to actually scrap and I stopped when I was going they my divorce. I actually scrapped for the first time last night, been 4 years since I stopped.

Reading this thread has been such a walk down memory lane! I joined the original 2peas in 2003, I came over from Scrapjazz ... I was just 21, still in university and living in my tiny basement apartment. I mostly lurked (then and now!) but did eventually make it to Buckethead. I learned so much from everyone (and sometimes I definitely learned what *NOT* to do!) I feel like I grew up with 2peas. I was definitely there for most of these stories (...silently watching and eating popcorn, admittedly!)

I remember another thing: someone used to have a thread announcing all of the new pea babies. My DD1 made it in 2003 but I'm not sure if it was still around in 2006 for DD2

Definitely not her brain.

Who was the Pea that was dating a country music star? Maybe someone from Big and Rich? We all were glued to our tv during the CMA’s to catch a glimpse of her.

You sent someone money for a trash bill? Did I read that correctly? She was having financial troubles all around, the trash part just sticks out in my mind because it's so odd. I only sent maybe $5-10; it was an amount that was insignificant to me. My intentions in sending it at the time were to help a fellow pea, if she was scamming us that was on her.

I remember Belle and how unique what she shared with each of us that asked her...I can't remember what she replied to me but I remember her.
i remember the pea who replied on my question about a wedding veil and how to find the right shade. I remember that she shared she understood and she knew she had just the right shade and she offered to send it to me and she did. I had the perfect veil on my wedding day because a pea cared and went above and beyond.
I remember when a pea sent me cookies from Germany (I think it was Germany) because I was trying to find my moms favorite cookies and asked if anyone had seen them in a store recently and she sent me some for her from the other side of the world.
I remember the pea that reached out to me as I went in for surgery and called me as I recovered and offered to come visit me.
I remember the pea who was local to me at the time and she catered our small wedding reception. I remember who good it felt to know I trusted her because I knew her from the pod.
I remember the peas who we gathered with at a Dave Ramsey day event and we tailgated with and got to know in person.
I remember the pea who I met in a parking lot recently after knowing her online for well over a decade! She is someone that hundreds of time I have thought can I just be a fly in your kitchen. She is full of greatness and I want to soak it by learning while she creates. I remember thinking how grateful I am that my life doesn't just include those right around me but how big and beautiful an online community can be.
I remember the pea who sent my son a handmade card and itunes gift card as he recovered from a severe complication after a routine foot surgery.
These aren't probably random as they are really meaningful to me and stand out. It all started pretty random and you never know what can come from a message board.

Who remembers those Oreo cookie ball things?
Only NSBR could make smooshed Oreo cookie crumbles and cream cheese (I think that what was in them) controversial.

A few random memories I have: When certain peas used to post about being “threadkillers.” These Peas claimed that they were so unpopular that when they posted on a thread, no one else wanted to post after them and the thread would die and fall off page one. When sewing on scrapbook pages became a popular trend and everyone ordered a mini sewing machine which cost $10 and came in a variety of colors. Everyone posted which color they had ordered. (I ordered purple and never took it out of the box). When lots of peas submitted entries for CK’s Hall of Fame issue. CK called the winners on a specific date stated in the rules. The winners weren’t allowed to say anything until the Hall of Fame issue was released.. Peas would post on the day the calls were to made, stating that they hadn’t received a call. Then everyone would try to figure out who had not posted and therefore had probably made the Hall of Fame issue. I wasn’t a good enough scrapper to even consider entering, but I always thought that day was exciting. Ha! those little sewing machines! I think we all got them from either QVC or HSN. Mine was yellow. I took it out of the box, all excited, and then realized.... I didn't know how to sew. I don't know what happened to that little machine. I must have given it away at some point. You did more than me. I didn’t take mine out of the box.
