I took advantage of the posted coupon code a couple weeks ago and picked up my first bottles of Zoya polish. I have pretty much given up on regular polish in the last couple of years and only do gel now. Regular polish will chip off my fingers in a matter of hours no matter if it a $1 cheapo brand or something $12/bottle. I decided to try the Zoya because they have the best colors I've seen in a long time and the reviews are always good.
So my polish arrived today and I eagerly painted my nails. I used the Dahlia pixie dust. It is gorgeous. The instructions for the pixie dust say not to use the top coat. Probably because it is supposed to be matte and textured and the top coat would make it flat and glossy. So I did just the Zoya base coat and two coats of the color. I used the fast dry drops as instructed. 20 minutes in just sitting here watching tv and I already have one chip. Please tell me that when you use the top coat the results are better? Is there something else I should be doing? I just followed the instructions given regarding using the remover to clean the nails, then base coat, then 2 coats of color, skipped the top coat because it is pixie dust, and then did the fast dry drops.

I didn't read the instructions. I used top coat and practically had to use a chisel and hammer to get it off my nails. I only paint my toenails though, and they don't tend to chip like fingernails do.

I don't ever use a base coat. I do run nail polish remover (I use the Zoya polish remover, it's the best) over my nails after I've filed to remove any dust or oils, and then I paint. My Zoya polish usually lasts 5-7 days without chipping.
The fantastic thing about the Pixie Dust polishes is that you can dab a little bit on the chip and it will blend right in. They're my favorite polish for pedicures in the summer, because I can do a quick touch up whenever it needs it.
ETA: I don't ever use the fast drops with my Pixies, so maybe that's the issue? Since they're matte, they dry pretty quick compared to regular polish.

Gennifer, I did just that and you absolutely cannot tell that I did a touch up. I have had to do 3 of them since posting this thread. I forgot what it was like to have to baby my finger nails since I have been doing gel for so long. I would be happy to get 3 full days of wear out of them. Gels only get me 5-7 days before they begin chipping and peeling off.

Have you ever tried doing an apple cider vinegar wipe on your nails before painting them? It will remove any oils that prevent your polishes from 'sticking'. I have long nails and put them through heck and back and only start to get to chips around days 5 or 7. That's with cheap polishes and a Seche Vite top coat.

I have not ever heard of doing that. I will definitely try it. I specifically bought the Zoya brand base and top coat because I figured they were formulated to work together. I hear good things about Seche Vite though so maybe I should try that.

I haven't used Zoya polishes...yet(I am also waiting for mine to be delivered), but I absolutely love the Seche Vite topcoat. I have never had my polish chip and I use all different kinds. It just wears off the ends of my nails. I usually get about 6-7 days wear out of the lighter colors, but a day or two less when I use darker ones because it is more noticeable.

My polishes aren't coming until OCT 4! Terrible. Yeah mine just shipped yesterday. I ordered the 18th. But that's always the way it goes when they have a big promotion, so I'm not gonna get bent about it. I was slightly annoyed that people that ordered AFTER me had gotten theirs already, but whatever.

I hear good things about Seche Vite though so maybe I should try that. IME Zoya and SV don't work well together. I use NYC Grand Central Station mixed 50/50 with SV over everything. The thing about any polish though is that it can be a very individual thing; what works for one person may not for another. It's a lot of trial and error until you find what works best for you. I don't ever dehydrate my nails before painting, I actually oil them first and then wipe off the excess before applying base coat. My nails are so much healthier and my polish wears just as well or even better than when I used to dry then before painting. I have so much less peeling now (plus I use a moisturizing base coat). You can top coat pixie dusts for a totally different look, but it will require a LOT of tc. One product good for this is Gelous, a thicker tc available at Sally's, topped with your favorite quick-dry tc like SV. Happy polishing!

I didn't order until the 20th. I must be closer to the warehouse they ship from or something.
Small update though, my Pixie dust polish made it through an entire day at work with NO CHIPS! I was filing for half the day too and that always takes it's toll on polish. So I have a good feeling about this!

I find I have to use a top coat with the pixie polishes or the rough finish wears off the tips of my nails as if it's been rubbed with sand paper. I don't find it chips though. I use one coat of Essie Good to Go top coat.

Ok, I removed the Pixie dust today after three full days of wear! I only had two chips after touching up the initial ones I gave myself. I am really, really happy with those results! I have put on one of the regular ones now, Hayden, a bright pink for a wedding I am going to on Saturday. Here's hoping I have as good of results with the non glittery polish.
