Daniel Dale....
”Per pool, Trump started his White House meeting on human trafficking by lying about human trafficking, saying traffickers can't use legal ports of entry (they regularly do) because they have people "bound up" for the crossing (experts say very rarely at most, possibly never).”

Not all billionaires are as tone-deaf as Schultz. Schultz, who TOUTS the government programs that helped him, can't abide a higher marginal rate because others are still in need - as the economy has outsourced, off-shored, downsized and automated them out of livelihoods.
Steyer gets it.

Trump call and Foxconn says screens are on again in WI. But..... "Even still, Foxconn has scaled back plans from what was originally announced in late 2017 when it indicated it would build large flat screens, the types used in big screen televisions and other high end product. By groundbreaking last summer, it had shifted to much smaller flat screens, the types used in consumer electronic products like appliances and autos. It is the latter product, the small screens, that are back in its plans as of Friday. And Foxconn could not say how many of the flat screens it will build in Wisconsin under the latest plans as compared to its original announcement. Some experts following the facility's development have doubts about whether Foxconn will ever follow through on completing the Wisconsin plant. Steven Deller, an economics professor at the University of Wisconsin, laughed when told of the latest announcement Friday afternoon, pointing to other promised Foxconn plants that were never built. "I think they're playing games," he said. "They've done the same thing to India, Brazil and Pennsylvania. They have a track record of making promises and not living up to them." Deller said from the beginning of the negotiations it made zero sense to build a flat screen plant in the United States. "These kinds of screens have become a commodity," he said. "The only way to be competitive is to drive costs down as much as possible. That means going to Asian markets for cheap labor. The R&D component, that makes sense. If you're looking at expanding your product line, it makes sense to do it in the US."" www.cnn.com/2019/02/01/tech/foxconn-wisconsin-plant-trump/index.html

He has one brain cell and it's on the fritz.....holy fuck is he stupid... "Allowing abortions after birth." What an absolute idiot. I am hopping mad over the demonization of women by Republicans right now. The assumption that pro-choice women are all just waiting for the "opportunity" to be pregnant for 24 weeks or longer and then abort a healthy, viable fetus is so incredibly insulting. The assumption that women cannot be trusted to make ethical decisions with their doctors and must be regulated instead is so misogynist and paternalistic. I realize I'm preaching to the choir here, but after reading account after account of the heartbreaking stories of women who chose a late-term abortion as a very painful necessity has me wanting to punch every GOP lawmaker who spouts stuff about "selfish ghouls." What if we trusted women to make responsible decisions for themselves and their families instead of forcing them to ask permission from strangers to make an incredibly difficult decision at the worst moment in their lives?

Well the Confederate flags and associated "it's about history" attitude. Using the term "criminal element" to describe minorities. The words globalist and diversity being used in a negative connotation. "Pedestrian" is a uniquely local one. "I've been noticing a lot of pedestrians around town" means black and brown people out and about. Constant badmouthing and rumormongering of ethnically owned businesses. Complaining whenever an ethnic restaurant opens. Saying things like "the demographics are changing too fast" to complain about nonwhite families moving in. Pitching bitch fits over black history month because "where's the white history month?" We definitely have white nationalists in the area. There's a branch of a neo-confederate group based in a house a few miles from me, in the next town over. I know there are a lot more than openly admit it. I've learned a lot of the code words and phrases they use. When you learn what the "tells" are, you start noticing just how pervasive it is in some places. What are the tells you have noticed?

linkWhat the hell... “MASS CHAOS' ERUPTS AT IMMIGRATION COURTS AFTER ICE HANDS FAKE HEARING DATES TO MIGRANTS”“Mass chaos" erupted at courthouses across the country on Thursday after hundreds of immigrants reportedly appeared for hearing dates issued by the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agency only to discover that their appointments were "fake," according to CBS News. Immigration attorneys told CBS that immigration courts were crowded with long lines of people waiting to find out where their hearings would be held. For many, the answer appeared to be nowhere, as the hearings had never been scheduled in the first place. "It's mass chaos," Ruby Powers, a Houston-based immigration attorney, told CBS News on Thursday. "These courts are already short-staffed trying to clean up from the government shutdown's mess. It's a perfect storm."

Months ago they were waiting in lines for 12 midnight. actually round the clock appointment times, appointments and when they were told there were no appointments they still waited. They did not want to miss their hearings/court dates and were afraid to leave.. Which ever TV crew filmed it all....

It's frightening when they are listed and more frightening that he is hell bent on destabilising world peace. The latest pull out of the Nuclear Forces Treaty will quite possible lead to a nuclear arms race. But I'm convinced that is what he wants so he can shout from the rooftops that HE ( MAGA) has a bigger military/arms power that anyone else. It beggars belief that a man of 72 in his position can be so childish.

Building changes with small signs written in English, dates changing with notification only posted on a website and not communicated in any other way to the person with the appointment, forms taken and not returned but needed for the hearing, etc. Being set up for complete failure to comply. It's heartbreaking.

How long have I been saying this?! Why can't so many in the media see (sooner) what ordinary people like me can extrapolate?!? How the Presidency Became a Billionaire’s Ultimate PrizeJust another notch in their billionaire belts. Another thing to brag about at Davos. And how many intelligent billionaires are out there saying 'If a buffoon like Trump can do it, I can do it." "The modern presidency appeals especially to today’s billionaires who have reached that end point at which additional wealth conveys no additional joy or increase in status. They want a larger stage from which to dispense their pet theories, underlings by the hundreds of thousands, and a whole new org chart to dominate. What else but the White House could give them all they crave? It’s a mistake, of course, as Trump has learned, because the checks and balances of the legislature and the courts prevent a billionaire president from dictating by whim. "

linkRich white trash.. From MSNBC “Trump's complaint to White House guests: Obama watched too much TV”“The Washington Post published an interesting report today on one of the things Donald Trump does that his presidential predecessors did not: he apparently likes to give White House tours to his guests. "Other presidents have been varied in their reception to guests," the article explained, "but most did not give many elaborate tours, presidential historians and aides say." The tours apparently include crude jokes -- Trump reportedly likes to point to the locations of sexual encounters between Bill Clinton and Monica Lewinsky -- and boasts about the ways in which he believes he's improved the White House since taking office. The portrait that emerges is that of a president who has very little actual work to do, and who enjoys showing off his temporary home as a trophy. This, however, stood out for me. The president has also claimed to guests, without evidence, that his private dining room off the Oval Office was in "rough shape" with a hole in the wall when he came into the West Wing and that Obama used it to watch sports, according to two White House officials and two other people who have heard him discuss the dining room. "He just sat in here and watched basketball all day," Trump told a recent group, before saying he upgraded Obama's smaller TV to a sprawling, flat-screen one, the four people said. There are a few angles to this that seem notable. The first is that Trump's claims, like so much of what he has to say, appear to be made up. The Post's article added, "An Obama White House official, who spoke on the condition of anonymity because Obama does not generally respond to Trump's remarks, said that there was no hole in the wall and that Obama rarely worked in the room and did not watch basketball there." Taking this a step further, I won't claim to be a sports expert, but I'm reasonably sure most basketball games are aired at night. The idea that Barack Obama "watched basketball all day" seems ridiculous on its face, but unless we're to believe the Democrat recorded a bunch of games for afternoon viewing, this is awfully difficult to take seriously. What's more, given everything we know about Donald Trump and his attitudes on race, it's hardly unreasonable to wonder about the not-so-subtle motivations behind him reportedly telling White House visitors that the nation's first black president was lazy and sat around watching basketball all day. And the idea that Trump has focused on comparable screen sizes, as if that were an important metric, is very much in keeping with everything we've come to expect from him. But what I find especially interesting about the anecdote is the underlying point: Trump wants his visitors to think Barack Obama spent too much time in the White House watching television. M A staple of the Trump presidency is a tactic known as "projection": he identifies his faults, and then projects them onto his perceived foes. As regular readers know, his I-know-you-are-but-what-am-I instincts, like an intemperate child, are finely tuned after extensive practice.
But for the love of all that is good in the world, does he really want to talk about which president spent more time in front of the tube?

”Democrat Governor Ralph Northam of Virginia just stated, “I believe that I am not either of the people in that photo.” This was 24 hours after apologizing for appearing in the picture and after making the most horrible statement on “super” late term abortion. Unforgivable!
”Ed Gillespie, who ran for Governor of the Great State of Virginia against Ralph Northam, must now be thinking Malpractice and Dereliction of Duty with regard to his Opposition Research Staff. If they find that terrible picture before the election, he wins by 20 points!”
There is so much you can about these tweets...
