baby dolls? until I was 13 or so - and I know I wasn't the only one of my friends at that age (although we were in the minority).
I never played with barbies or the like.
I remember when Cabbage Patch dolls came out - my mum got my sister one but said I was too old (I wanted one anyway) - I was 13 I think.
Neither of my girls were ever really into baby dolls past toddlerhood. DD18 loved her knock-off American Girl doll, DD12 hasn't played much with hers (I think she wanted it because her sister had one). Neither had Barbies. DS27 played with dolls until about 2nd grade

I have wonderful memories of sewing Barbie clothes with my best friend. Her mother was a seamstress and gave us all of her scraps. So much fun! My DD and her best friend spent hours playing with their American Girl dolls. Now I play Covet Fashion on my IPad so I guess I’m still playing with dolls!

I never like baby dolls very much even though I had several and would play with them when my neighbor came over to play because she liked them.
But Barbies I loved!! I always played "Pageant" and made them long dresses and make a crown out of some broken jewelry. I still have all of my Barbies! I gave up playing with the around 13 but I still make clothes for them occasionally and will redress them!

I was never a big fan of dolls. I had two older brothers so I just played with what they had. Stuffed animals, on the other hand, were my weakness. To this day I don't leave home without smuggling Eeyore in my suitcase. That donkey has had some wild adventures with us .

I loved Barbie and played with it till I was around 12. I still have all my Barbies & my dd played with them till she was about 12 too. My dad surprised me with the 1978 a-frame Barbie dream house a few years ago, that he found at an antique toy mall. I always wanted one and I was thrilled to pieces.

I loved my dolls and barbies. When I turned 9 my mom decided that that was enough of the dolls and pretend play. She put all of them into a tote and put hem in the garage. She told me that if I wanted to play with hem, I had to do it out there. I went out to that garage and played with them every single day until sometime in February when it just was too cold. That was the end of the imaginary play. I still have no idea why she made that decision. I still think it’s one of the cruelest things she did while I was growing up. (There weren’t very many mean things she did, i can maybe count them on one hand. But this one just seemed really really over the top to me).
Oddly enough, she is the one that completely flipped out the day I decided to give all my barbies haircuts.

I enjoyed styling my doll's hair and making them clothes, more than what I would consider playing with them (making them move and talk to each other). I think I was probably done with that around 6th grade, but I'm really not sure. I still have my My Friend Mandy, Becky, and Jenny dolls.

I have always loved dolls and still collect them to this day although I haven't bought one in ages and I only have a few. My mother refused to buy Barbie dolls for my sister and me because she said they weren't "proper" for children. I was born in 1960 to give you some idea of the times. Instead my sister and I got two dolls that year that were made in Switzerland-my mother's German. I still have my doll from that time and it's the only play thing I have left from my childhood-we moved so many times. The last time I played with dolls was probably when I was 9 because my youngest sister was born then and she was like a living doll. I got to feed her and change her I like dolls as an adult because of their craftsmanship. My favorite are the antique dolls from Europe. I have an antique doll that I bought on Ebay that is a 22" Bruno Schmidt Bisque baby doll. They are expensive so I've only got this one in my collection but she is my favorite.

my sister and i didn't really play with dolls. when the next generations of girls were born in my side of the family, they didn't have interest in dolls either. i guess we just never understood them. the girls on DH's side of the family played with dolls. they were born in the American Girl generation.

I loved to play with dolls and my mom and grandmother bought me many Madame Alexander dolls and other baby type dolls. I also played with Barbie dolls and had the first Barbie & Ken (and probably Francie) that came on to the market.
I had an elderly Great Aunt that sewed many Barbie clothes (1960's style!) and other doll clothes for me. I have a big bin in storage of them. I have dispersed the Barbie dolls and most of the Madame Alexander dolls. I sold them on ebay which would have made my mother's head spin but my own DD was not interested in those dolls.
She only played with a couple of baby dolls which I kept for her.
To answer the question, I was probably a little older when I stopped playing with dolls as I am an introvert & didn't really mature as early as others. I still have a couple of my own dolls. My great grandmother came to Texas from Tennesee when she was very young in a covered wagon. She made me a doll like what she played with when she was a little girl when she was living with us when I was small. The body is a rolled up dish cloth, with a scrap of fabric for a dress and a face drawn on with a pencil. I still have it. I also have a cloth doll that my great aunt made for my mother when she was little, her face is embroidered and the hair is yarn and the little dress is embroidered and beautiful.
I have no idea what my children will do with that bin of dolls when I die. I guess it doesn't matter.

I was a bit of a tomboy as a child (who am I kidding...I still am) and so dolls were never my thing, I was more of the go outside or read inside kind of kid.
Lack of interest in dolls did not seem to hinder my mothering skills. DH and I managed to raise three kids to adulthood. He was as equally clueless as me, but we figured it out!

I know I played at least until I was 12. It probably helped at the time that 6th grade was still in elementary school.

I remember getting something for my American girl in 6th grade. I don't remember when I stopped playing with barbies. My daughter is interested in babies, she's 7, but I've found the quality to be crappy compared to the ones I had growing up. I had Samantha (ag doll) and my sister had Kirsten, my mom kept everything and I have all that stuff in the garage.
We got dd her first ag doll at the ag store in nyc for Christmas right before she turned 4. She'll be 8 in March and we gave her Molly for Christmas this year, she's got 5 or 6 of them now. She loves them, but hasn't found many girls in her class that are interested in playing with them. She's a girly girl and loves dresses, princesses, fairies, and that sort of stuff. It bums me out that most of her school peers have already moved past that phase. I was really hoping we had 3-4 more years, since her little sister is 7 years younger,i was really hoping they'd have a brief cross over time!

what do you mean 'stopped' I loved dolls. I played with them for a long time. Recently, I came across DD's dolls, packed up in the attic, and I could't resist - I changed all of them into other outfits

I stopped playing with baby dolls when I was about 8 or 9.
I was obsessed with Barbie dolls and didn’t stop playing with them until I was about 12.

At age 13, my Mom decided I was too old to play Barbies anymore, and MADE me give them away..... I was very sad, BUT, I believed (incorrectly!) with her that I needed to have more grown-up interests. I wonder how long my friends and I WOULD HAVE continued playing? The only thing that made it less painful was seeing how happy my cute neighbor girls were to get allllll my dolls, clothes, car, dreamhouse, etc. I believe I was in the 8th grade when I stopped playing barbies. When I was in MS, I actually played in secret. It was hard.

I finally got back to my thread and have enjoyed everyones' stories! I'm happy for those of you who saved dolls, clothes, etc. My sister and I WISH we had saved at least SOME of our Barbies and clothes !!! I still have a few of my favorite Baby dolls, and also---sweet Raggedy Ann. I forgot to mention DAWN dolls....omg, my best friend and I loved them, too!! Anyone else? Those of you who mentioned stuffed animals.... I love them, too! I'm so happy that I saved a few of my faves from childhood. I'm most thankful to have a miniature Winnie The Pooh that belonged to my baby brother. I found it in his apartment after he died and it brings me sweet memories. Those of you who sewed/ had others sew Barbie clothes for you---wow! When I was 5, we had some very nice teenage girl neighbors who sewed some dresses for our Barbies, and my sister and I have KICKED ourselves manyyy times over not saving them !!! Whoever made funny comments about Barbie & Ken's sex life...LOL! My baby brother used to tell me I TRAUMATIZED him by the things my Barbie and Ken did. He was also VERY mad when I took his GI Joe and Bionic Man dolls to do naughty things with Barbie. For a while, I collected Barbies and Hallmark Barbie ornaments--the dolls have never been taken out of their boxes, and I was verrry careful with the ornaments when I used to display them yearly on my special Barbie tree. Back in 2000, I thought the Milllenial Barbies were just GORGEOUS, and I HAD to have them ( I got both the white and black one). At the time, they were so RARE and "HTF", I was soo excited and thankful that my dear brother found them on ebaY and gave them to me as gifts. My sister got me a CUTE "Little Debbie" (snack cakes) Barbie back in the 90's.....She must have seen the ad on a box of LIttle Debbies and knew I'd love it ! For my 40th birthday, she gave me a Malibu Barbie which was an exact replica of the one my friends and I had in the 70's. from the at I wonder if anyone in my family will want them after I die? I have alwaysssss wanted the original Nurse Barbie from 1963 and the "Julia" (also a nurse from a 1960's TV show I loved). Once in a while, I peruse ebaY to see what they're going for........

I don't remember when I stopped playing with baby dolls but Barbie's I kinda do.. I LOVED Barbies!! I was probably around 13 or so..
I remember my neighbor had a basement and we would go down there for hours and hours, we had rooms set up, roads, the whole shebang..tons of store-bought'en and homemade accessories.. it was so much fun...
The only damper was that I never got the dream house.. my sister did.. I was pretty mad about it for years... We still argue the point.. haha
