...customer, unsolicited. www.scarymommy.com/text-message-jiffy-lube-employee/"“While I know you were wanting to give me a compliment, it was completely unnecessary and unsolicited,” she wrote. “I am a customer, you are a service provider, and there should be no communication between us outside of that unless I, the customer, express interest.” She went on to explain that he had caused her panic by tracking down her phone number because that meant he actually went into her file and pulled her personal information. “Now that I know that you are the type of person to go back to someone’s file to find their personal information, what is to keep you from going back and getting my address,” she wrote. “There are men who stalk, rape, and murder women by getting their information this way.” Cue the #Incels - "oh, man, he was only giving her a compliment. Geez. What's wrong w/you angry feminists". Another example of damned if we do (out them) and damned if we don't. If we out them, we risk making their creepy lives worse, or risk making them angry. If we don't, we risk that their creepy behavior continues until they cross even more lines, more dangerously.

The response to this is perfect. I’m glad that women are feeling more empowered to stand up for themselves. It’s a new day!

Before everyone jumps on the creepy stalker train, don't forget that Slow Joe (or whatever his name was) who is a fan favorite here did exactly the same thing to his now wife. He was an employee at Verizon or some other cell phone carrier and she came in as a customer and he used the information in her account to contact her.
We don't know all the details of what the Jiffy Lube guy said or if he left her alone after her response but calling him a creepy stalker and saying what he did was inappropriate for just sending the message seems to be inconsistent with how everyone felt about what a member of Two Peas did.

Hmm.... While I agree in theory (I have a friend who got dick pics from some guy she bought a GOAT from)... I'm not tooooo upset about this one. he probably should have hit on her in person instead of pulling her info though, he'll probably lose his job. He said hi, tried to hit on her, she went off on him and he apologized... the end.
We've brought our kids up in an age where they can't do anything unless they do it by texting, and then when they do the only thing they've been taught, we get pissed.
Start by teaching your kids have to communicate face to face and stop letting them sit on your phone once they hit 3 years old.

He should lose his job. The time to talk to her was in the store, not using her contact information from the business.
It's creepy and wrong.

In her message she says she is married and her and creepy guy talked about her being married. I vote inappropriate.
Also, anywhere I have worked I would have been fired for using confidential customer info for anything that was not work related.

I don't think it's cute or flirty. It's creepy. I'm not "everyone."

I am friendly with Joe, but you're right that it was inappropriate & wrong, regardless of how it turned out. I'll stay consistent and say it was wrong for Joe, and it was wrong for Jiffy Lube dude.

If he wants to use technology to get a date, use a dating site where both parties are looking for the same thing.

Maybe it was, but she says in her response back to him that she is married and he knew that from their conversation about her car maintenance. That makes it even creepier to me.

I would think it is extremely unprofessional for someone I only have a business relationship with to call or text my personal cell phone out of the blue with messages like that. Stalkerish, creepy and just plain weird. But then again, my fierce RBF works wonders to ward off creepers like that!
