We are nearing the end of the first month of the year *le gasp* and I realised that I already had a bit of catching up to do with my Project Life-style documenting for 2019. Many PLers seem to be entering a new phase when it comes to their yearly documenting: several big names have announced changing format, going for monthly spreads instead of weekly, being unsure which size to go for this year, etc. So, to quieten the chaos, I thought a nice big PL thread would be just the encouragement we need to keep going and get the everyday memories recorded.
Come in and get cosy.
Talk about everything PL-related: the new product, the struggles, the lessons learnt from flipping through past albums, the changes made, the joys.
Share your monthly recap so you can motivate yourself to get those pictures edited and printed and encourage others to do the same.
As always with documenting, there is no right way to do things, no rules to follow. You do you. Anyone with any kind of yearly documenting is welcome. Whether you go all out or keep it short'n'sweet, whether you're all about dem embellishments or doing a digital photo book, whether you're a long-term PLer or new, this thread is your thread. Welcome to your PL home!

Kicking off the PL party by sharing my January moments and things to document so far:
1. Hikes on the shore were our favourite thing this month; 🌊 2. A day in Paris and one in Disneyland; 🏰 3. Home-made brunch with bacon and gruyère waffles, yogurt parfaits, cappuccino and MOAR; 🍽️ 4. The cold, harsh winter after such a soft and mild December (thanks to previous PL albums, I have actual proof that other years are nowhere near as cold by late January); ❄️ 5. A lot of bingewatching from under the warm blanket around here (Luther season 5, Derry Girls, Travelers season 3, Patriot season 2 and finally got around to watching Marvel's Daredevil); 6. Workout playlist of the month (Way Back Home [Sam Feldt edit] - Shaun ft. Conor Maynard, Call You - Cash Cash ft. Nasri of MAGIC!, Speechless - Robin Schulz ft. Erika Sirola, All Into Nothing - R3hab ft. Mokita, Brightside - BRKLYN & Disco Fries ft. Lena Leon, More Than Enough [HVNNIBVL chill remix], HVNNIBVL); 7. Favourites from the Paris Fashion Week Haute Couture currently taking place (Iris Van Herpen bringing it! #slowclap); 😍
8. Managing *not* to get fully sick (fingers. effin'. crossed) 9. Museum Sunday; 10. Winter sales buys. 💸 I'm doing a digi photobook this year (eep, I know!) as well as a thicc 4x6 moodbook with my paper scraps. I might end up doing a monthly recap 6x8 album later on but it's not a goal I'm working towards. *le shrug*

This year I am going to be alternating PL pages and full page layouts. I will probably do a mix of digital and physical pages, and I will stick to my 8.5x11 size. I use high quality baseball card holders for the pocket pages, and I can print four photos on a 5x7 sheet and they will fit pretty much perfectly. I like to make one page/week, it seems like that way lets me fit a whole year in one binder (especially bc I end up missing a week or three throughout the year).
Things I plan to document so far: 1. Weirdly warm January weather, hike with my pup 2. Our 2nd anniversary, going to the zoo, retro arcade, favorite chocolate shop 3. Seeing Broadway's Aladdin 4. The lunar eclipse

One thing I thought that could be nice is if we could ID some of the more prominent scrappers and the size album they're using for 2019 so we could easily reference them if we needed some inspiration for our own scrapbooks.
Juli Maniago is still working on her PL albums from the past couple of years in 9x12, no clue whether she'll continue in this size for 2019.
Caylee Grey is not doing PL this year.

I'm very diligently cleaning up 2018. I tend to leave journaling for the very last so I'm catching up on Oct-Dec. I'm an SC Documenter subber with occasional additions from FYC and IACB.
I'm extremely irritated that those 3B protectors haven't shown up yet, I'm out until they do. I do 9x12 3B exclusively with 9x12 full page layouts thrown in here and there. Since I was sick a good chunk of January, not a whole lot to report except for a White Elephant party with friends last Saturday night.
February will be a big month, with my DD's 18th birthday, Rams in the SuperBowl and also Valentine's Day.

Hi! This is my 4th year doing PL. I'm continuing with the 6x8 size, monthly. This fits me perfectly. I am still finishing up 2018. I didn't do a December Daily, I just didn't feel like it. So I'm working on the Christmas photos then I'll be done and ready to start 2019. Thanks for starting this thread, sleepingbooty 😊

Inked business as usual. Hopefully, they show up quickly so you can start documenting this year! Stay away from all the germs in the meantime. Winter illnesses are no joke. *touches wood*
quietgirl 6x8 is such a lovely format! Like picking an actual book off the shelves.

This is my 5th year of Project Life. Last year I failed in February. I don't plan to go back and finish it. I got January into pockets and Feb photos are printed in a folder. I'll see if I do anything with those.
I do monthly format. This year I'm doing the 6x12 size. I'm hoping to keep it in 1 album. Normally though my trip mini albums, which have also been 6x8, get put at the end of that month. I guess I'm going to do a trips album this year or I'll have to pare down the number of photos I include from trips. I just got back from a long weekend at Disneyland with a large group of friends and currently working on how I'm going to document it so I can start thinking about January's layout and if I'm going to need to order a 2nd album before they disappear from the SC site.

I am doing 12x12 again this year. I suspect this will be my last year of this size as both boys will be graduated and off to college this fall. Who knows though! I won't start my album til February though, as I always run one month behind. I am currently trying to wind down my 2018 album soI can retire it to the shelf.

I miss my kit variety, so in addition to my pretty consistent scheme from Elle's Studio and my one week at most supplies in the SBTM kits, I think I am going to finally give stash kit building a try. I just need to decide where to start.

2019 will be my fourth year of doing PL after a long break from 12x12 postbound layout scrapping. I started back again in 2016 with 9x12, but decided I liked the regular PL 12x12 Design A pages better because I can fit a year into one album.
I haven't started my 2019 album, still trying to finish up the last week in December 2018. I didn't do DD but included holiday stuff in my December pages. I scrap events in a monthly format.
I have three 12x12 PL albums on hand, and probably have enough Design A page protectors plus some other styles to finish three more years of albums. I am a bit concerned about the current state of BH's business as I have no desire to do digital and I wonder how long the physical products will be available.

I just wanted to add that I have some journal cards from story kits (no longer subbing), some from Feed Your Craft and a few from Elle's Studio. But I mostly make my own cards w with my stamps. I cut down paper or cardstock and use my stamps. I have a few digital files, too, just for printing. I don't really do digital except to print cards once in a great while.

I’m feeling a little bit burnt out on picture taking after December Daily. This is my fourth year, having previously done 2 12x12 design A pages per week in the app, plus a monthly 2page physical spread in 12x12 for each of my kids. This year I’m going to do 1 weekly 12x12 in the app for our family book and continue the two page monthly spreads for the kids. I want to be more intentional about photo taking, but so far I’m really struggling to capture the day to day stuff that I really want to see reflected in our family book. Hopefully I can sit down and make a list/peruse Pinterest and get more ideas.

Cool! I have vague, undeveloped plans to make a blurb book similar to some projects shannanm.com is doing - basically something like a 52 highlights + some currently spreads in a blurb trade book, and/or what she calls her commonplace book, which is all the everyday and silly stuff like movies, TV shows, texts, and all those random photos and stories that PL is good for. I have a list for the first few weeks so far so I know what I'll do for the 52 stories version: wk1 prancing and plunging into the lake on New Years day wk2 Portland Cello Project concert performing Radiohead's OK Computer album wk3 a really delicious fried oyster appetizer we had wk4 probably the 24in48 readathon coming up this weekend wk5 walking the new highway 99 tunnel before it opens and the Seattle Viaduct before it's demolished But then I also want to add in Spiderman Into the Spiderverse and maybe watching Ocean's Eight and Dumplin' and books and whatever other random stuff comes up, so I haven't decided whether I'll put that all together into one book. Probably will, because when I split things up I tend to duplicate myself. I'm already keeping a detailed journal in Day One, but I haven't really gotten a good workflow for adding photos to that yet. Anyway, the basic idea is either creating small digital spreads, or just dragging photos into a photo book as we go. I also really like the simple digi PL she's created for herself to print in a blurb book, so if I feel like what I have is too messy I could switch to something more contained in weekly spreads. I tend to go overboard without limits.

Just added another couple of names to the Album Size list. Regarding my plans: I've never done PL weekly, and although the regimented part of it appeals to me, I feel like I don't have enough going on in my life that I would want to document on a weekly basis like that. I was thinking about just doing the main events per month, whether that's 1 thing or 5 things, like I basically do every year. As I say this, maybe what I need is discipline. Maybe I should try weekly. Anyone out there LOVE doing PL weekly? Inspire me, please.

Some of my set up (photos in pockets but nothing else) for 2018 are even 3 weeks to a spread because I made a concerted effort to be more choosey in printing (I don't print with dates in mind, only design A pp and work with what I end up with when I set up my pages) and some weeks I ended up with just a photo or 2 so combining made sense. I even have some weeks where all or all but 1 pic is from an event on one day during that week. I try to be as flexible as my rule following/rigid self can manage without stressing out. I have 3 little ones...so just in the nature of taking pics of them I can't do monthly yet. Maybe when they are all in school I can for non summer or major holiday months.

sleepingbooty Thanks for starting this thread! pancakes good idea for a list. Where did you see that Jamaica is making 6x12? I love her style but she rarely posts anything... I'm excited if she's going to share posts again. I think the last PL she shared was 2017. mmagain & sleepingbooty it has also been ridiculous here lately also, so I feel your pain... we have 2+ feet (70+ cm) of snow on the ground and on Monday it was -2 degrees F (-19 C) with a windchill much worse. I hate January weather! joblackford what is the readathon you are participating in? That doesn't mean read 24 books in 48 hours does it!? pancakes I love weekly project life! You should definitely give it a try. I have done PL consistently since 2013 and have tried strict weekly with week numbers (e.g. week #1), monthly, "go with the flow" (where I just added stuff as it happened and didn't worry about how much space it took up) and loose weekly. My favorite is "loose weekly" and I have done it since 2016. Basically what that means is that I do weekly spreads, Monday-Sunday but do not number my weeks and instead include the date range on the title card. This gives me the flexibility to change the length of a "week" if needed... for example if we take a vacation for a 4 day weekend, I will just make that 4 day weekend into one "week" and would probably combine the other portion of the week with the week prior. This process works really well for me because there is some flexibility, but I still have the fun of weekly documentation and have space to include the little stuff. I complete two 12x12 albums per year and use exclusively Design A page protectors for my weekly spreads. I will also include inserts if a week is extra busy or if I have a special event to highlight. In addition to divided page protector inserts, I include traditional pages, usually 2-4 per month. All of my traditional pages & inserts are smaller than 12x12 so they stay sandwiched within a week. I primarily use the AE story kit, SBTM kit and SC documenter kit in completing my pages, but I also pick up kits occasionally from FYC, KP, Felicity Jane and Citrus Twist, and have some BH kits that I will mix into my album. I do some hybrid bits also if I want to include more photos/typed text/titles. My goal is to create enough this year so that I reduce my stash rather than add to it. A 3-day weekend snowed in means that I am caught up on my album through the end of last week (Sunday Jan 20). I plan to share all of my pages on my crafty instagram account, lindalovescreating but have only shared my cover page so far. Some of the events included for January are: + new iphone + government shutdown (I like to include big current events) + typical new year stuff, new planner, new OLW, finishing up 2018 projects, etc. + ridiculous cold weather & huge blizzard + 4 year dating anniversary + our car dying & needing a new battery + a work happy hour and some other times with friends + our new treadmill + plus the typical day to day stuff, food, movies, cat photos, etc.

what is the readathon you are participating in? That doesn't mean read 24 books in 48 hours does it!? No, thank goodness! 24in48.com/ has a goal of reading 24 hours out of 48 on a specific weekend (this weekend!) which is still mightily ambitious! There's no way I'm going to manage that, but I will read a lot more than I would normally. As they say "my weekend is all booked!" Audiobooks count too, so you can go for a long walk or drive or do some cooking or gardening while listening to a book so you don't turn into a couch potato. They recommend having a stack of different kinds of books - a page turner or two, some short stories or shorter books, graphic novels, some books you've had on the shelf to read forever (which goes well with my deep/thrift OLW goals) - so you can switch between different formats and styles to keep energy up. If you register your social media where you share your progress you can win prizes. And in terms of timing, you can use the stopwatch app on your phone or a pencil and paper - the reading police don't come to check your records They run it a couple of times a year.

I'm doing PL 12x12 for the second consecutive year. I also did 2013. I love having my year to look back on. I do one 12x12 spread per week. Even though our lives are fairly routine I still manage to have too many photos every week and have to pare them down. I stopped my SBTM subscription (I used that exclusively last year and really enjoyed it) and bought the SU Memories & More cards to use instead. I'll also use some of my scrapbook stash, which is what I did in 2013 and I love looking back on that. I'm wondering if I should be stocking up on PL albums and page protectors, too purplebee. I really hope they turn the company around because it would be a shame to lose it.

Thanks for starting another great Megathread, @scrappingbooty. I'll join in!
This will be my 4th year of pocket-page scrapping. The first year, I used WRMK 8x8 albums and created a series of 4 seasons. After getting the hang of pocket pages, I decided I liked it and switched to 9x12 SC albums. I fit a whole year into one album, and just scrap the highlights.
Last year, I subscribed to the Cocoa Daisy pocket kit and add-on. I really loved it, and the bold, colorful illustration style worked really well with lot of my photos. I still have a lot of leftovers plus a huge stash, so I decided to cancel the subscription for this year. I have some Gossamer Blue and Felicity Jane kits that I will add to the mix.
I've already printed my January photos, but I stopped 2018 in about June. I sort of checked out and started making cards instead. I'll probably work on 2018 and 2019 at the same time. I am going to a crop with Embellish It this weekend, but I'm thinking of working on some old 12x12 albums during that, as she is providing some page kits with workshops.
So much scrapping to do! I just keep plugging away a little bit at a time, and it somehow seems to mostly get done.

My family albums have become Project Life style albums. I got super excited about a 12x12 album sale a couple of years ago and bought five. I'm currently almost 5 years behind. I've decided to use them up and all the page protectors then switch to a 6x8 size because my life is boring. At the rate I'm going, they will no longer make the 6x8 size when I'm ready to switch.
I'm using the Day One app (recommended by the peas) because I have a very bad memory and as evidenced above I'm not the quickest to get scrapping done. I set an alarm on my phone to remember to use it nightly because I only have two entries this month.
Right now I am a 12x12 pocket page scrapper. One album can have 1-3 years. I have dozens of Becky Higgins Project Life cards as well as her metal cutting dies. I have a few other cards from various companies. If there's a special photo/photos, I sometimes do a 8.5x11 or 12x12 page. I use a variety of page protectors. Last year I went to three warehouse sales and Let's Create Expo. I got some really good deals on them.
I wish I could be one of those people that just wing it and throw everything together, but I have to plan out the pages. I have jpegs saved of the types of page protectors I use. I print two of those on one 8.5 x 11 sheet and plan out two pages at a time. Then I put the paper into a page protector and put the empty 12x12 divided page protector behind that one. It's mainly to be sure I get the right photos printed. I'm not concerned about exact placement. The journal card in the top right corner might end up in the bottom right corner.
I tend to scrap in spurts so this works for me. Do a bunch of planning, order photos, put photos in protectors, pick cards, do journaling, and then add the fun stuff.
Unfortunately this has been a bad month. We've had a hacking cough going around the family. Right now it's DS's turn. We will know for sure if my MIL has ALS on January 28, which happens to be my deceased fathers birthday. I guess I plan to document about my MIL but plan to keep it brief. Does anyone tend to avoid bad things in their scrapbooks like me? The number one reason is I remember them well and that's what stays with me and I forget the little moments that are good.
It's likely I'll only have one, possibly two pages this month.

I have an entire cubby (and overflow) in my Kallax dedicated to my go to page protectors (WRMK brand) because they are getting so difficult to find. This year, American Crafts didn't do their annual warehouse sale for the first year in as long as I can remember and even when I'm well stocked, I usually buy 10-20 of the 10 packs every time I go. I really hope they're going to have it again this upcoming holiday season because I want to get more. Will I run out anytime soon? No. But the shift in the staples being so difficult to find (and when you can find it, it's hard to find a good price on them) leaves me wanting to make sure I have like a decade's worth of PP and albums so I don't have to worry about finding them for a long time.
