I just want to say that switching from one political party to another isn't a matter of just pulling a different lever. Politics for many people is as ingrained as religion. TherRe is an evolution of thought that must take place to move from one side to another. And things chip away one issue at a time, at least that's how it worked and continues to work in my case. Gay marriage was really my tipping point. And yes I voted in the Republican primary...for Kasich. And then I voted third party in the general election because all polls seemed to indicate Hillary would win. My thought was that surely a buffoon like Trump would never get elected. But I was wrong. And I have learned from my mistake here and will not do the same thing again. In looking back, I can definitely see that Obama came with a message of Hope and change. And people wanted that. He was a candidate that people felt like they wanted to vote for. Hillary was not that type of candidate and if Democrats want to win in 2020 then they have to examine that. Denying it and placing blame isn't going to move our country forward. You (general) need to ask yourself is more advantageous to be right or is it more advantageous to change minds. Because I want to change minds. The far right is a throwaway group. They are just way too deep in it to ever change their stance. The people in the middle are fair game. Use your arguments to win them over. Give them facts to think about. But don't blame and shame them. They just need information to make a better choice. You (general) need their support to win the next election. I honestly don't think we can change minds. Anyone's minds. I do know that I'm awfully tired of people who voted for Trump telling me that Democrats are to blame for their decision, and tired of the very same folks who voted for a man who spews absolute hatred for people I love, turning around and crying persecution if I type a snarky response. You don't get to vote for hate and then get all butthurt when people are upset by that. And that's it. I'm out. There have been many posts and even threads in the last few years asking for explanations so that left leaning peas could understand where others are coming from. When they explain, they're personally attacked, dismissed and even demonized. It's made astoundingly clear there is nothing they can say to be understood, they are wrong and not worthy of participating here. That's a far cry from a simple "snarky response". You explain what people experience as nothing more than a snarky response, completely dismissing the reality of what is going on, people read what you write and for some reason believe your dismissive version. Your version is factually incorrect. SockMonkey: an example of some of that "over-the-top, reactionary, skewed comprehension or interpretation...perspectives" you asked about.

You might consider how some of us experience your sanctimonious tone combined with your support of a president who promotes policies that should be abhorrent to all of us. Your high horse is a joke. You've made it quite clear that you're fine with the fact that he and his folks would like to make women and minorities back into second class citizens, destroy the environment, destroy public education and destroy our relationships with our allies. Because reasons, but mostly as a giant middle finger to the left. Destroying the country to own the libs, and telling us we're being mean when we object. You all are the monsters here. If I've come across as harsh toward Trump supporters, then good. I've made myself clear. You all effectively told decent people to go fuck themselves when you voted for him, so I'm just returning the message back to you. I think it's important to speak out against bullies and those who support them.

So you’re saying an ignorant, lying, crooked, narcissistic, uncivilized, incompetent blowhard was a better choice for president than a smart, educated, experienced, thoughtful, hard-working, generally superior woman, because she didn’t show enough humility to suit you? But you're okay with the pussy-grabbing and the mocking of the disabled reporter and the preferring immigrants from Norway, not sh*thole countries? All righty, then. Oh, watch out, Lucy. You're dismissing her very important perspective. 🙄

Her superior attitude during the debates? You mean intelligent, well thought out answers?
Many white males felt alienated by her and stayed home or voted for Trump or a third party.

The first (without the assholian strike out). I do think the democratic party was so busy being overly non trump and very PC that they did turn the white males away. It cannot happen again...but it had nothing to do her being intelligent and having well thought out answers.

IMO, the reasons people say that Hillary was “so terribly flawed” are based on bias and/or misinformation from Fox News and Russian interference. I liked Hilary. I think she was qualified to be President. I can understand why others didn't like her and her political beliefs. But I think it is horrible to hate her for Bill's actions and then vote for a man who is just as bad or worse and is unqualified to be President besides. I didn't like HIlary because of her own actions--Bengazi for one particular instance--and her "What difference does it make." remark. It certainly made a difference to the men that died because of her inaction. I didn't care for Mr. Clinton either. But it really didn't have anything to do with why I didn't like Hilary.

You doubted her superior attitude in one sentence and then (in the same post) said she alienated many of the voters. My point was, yeah she did... with her superior attitude. She was shocked when she wasn't ahead. She even did a video ranting about her shock and she just knew everyone would be as outraged as she was that she wasn't ahead. Because, well... superior. Attitude. She often came across as rightfully owed the presidency.

Im sorry if my post wasn't clear. I'm not out to blame anyone. I just want everyone to take a really critical look at what went wrong and try to make it right so we don't have another 4 years of trump. I've taken a critical look at myself, my vote, my biases, and my positions and I will pull the lever for whomever runs against him next time. I just want others to join me and after watching what has gone on the past two years, I'm trying to disseminate all the truthful information I can. I know I'm not going to reach a certain segment of the population, they are closed to it, but there's a bunch of middle of the road people. Those people can be won and need to be if we don't want them to vote for Trump again. I think that's what a lot of people did last election. They didn't want another democrat so it didn't matter who the nominee was. A lot of people didn't see the hope and change Obama promised and probably felt that the party would continue down the same path as the previous 8 years. They wanted a change and they got it. Some like it and some don't, 2020 will tell. To vote for whoever runs against him regardless of their stance on the issues is not a well thought out vote, it's a reactionary vote which as we've seen does not always turn out the way we hoped. I guess that it’s a judgement call. I know that plenty of people are happy with Trump; I hear it on local talk radio. Many around here think that he’s fantastic. I think that he’s an unmitigated disaster. Worst President of my lifetime, and I am betting that historians eventually rank him as one of the 5 worst presidents. I will definitely vote for whoever runs against him, because no one could be worse, IMO. The man is a cartoon. But that’s just my opinion.

I look at the polices and how the party think they will happen as my first point and then the leader of that party and how well I think he can lead the country.. I Don't understand how you have different candidates who seem to have different policies to their parties - Mr Trump and the Wall. That doesn't appear to be a party stance. Here in the UK the MAGA hat has been seen as a symbol of division since before Trump was elected. Especially after interviews with some supporters at rallies. Personally I don't think I would want to be seen as being on par with them. They came across as zenaphobic, racist and isolationist. I have no idea if that is considered as being on the right. As others have said all American politics is further right than the UK. So maybe my middle of the road politics appears ultra left wing when viewing American politics.

I get so tired of hearing that “What difference...” remark taken out of context. She was simply making the point that at the time of the Congressional hearings, it was less of a priority WHY the were murdered and more of a priority to discover WHO killed them and bring them to justice. And she was right. First you catch them, and then you figure out the why. Not that it matters any more, but that remark is constantly taken out of context. Simply correcting the record.

For me it boils down to this. You can't support Trump and his racist agenda without your own hands getting dirty. If WWII has taught us anything, it's that we should reject a racist political agenda, not embrace it and accept it as normal.
I respect our right leaning peas who refuse to embrace the Trump agenda. Hopefully you can take your party back from him.

You tag peas of opposing views in threads to start a fight. Peas that were never part of the discussion.- TROLL You post peas personal information; their first and last names. -TROLL You bring peas personal issues into political threads and make fun of them- TROLL
Another HUGE reason the threads tank is because of trolls like you and #notLauren and your personal attacks.
I do not understand why you are still allowed to be a pea. I reported you and #notLauren to admin . Yet you are allowed to continue to be a bully and a troll.
I have no doubts conservative peas have came back with new ID's. There are liberal peas who have a new join date after the election with similar posting styles. It goes both ways.

If you are going to tout your reasons for not liking someone, at the very least make sure they are accurate. 1. That statement about “what difference does it matter” when put with the entire comment does not mean what you are implying. Look it up. 2. When a foreign embassy is attacked in the United States the police or other US law enforcement agencies step in to protect that embassy.. This is a standard agreement countries have with each other. This is the agreement the US had with Libya. When the attack happened at the Benghazi Mission, Libya did nothing because they didn’t want to fight against their own countrymen. When US forces arrived in Libya, they were held up by Libyan officials at the airport. The Ambassador and his security guard were killed in the “safe room” by toxic smoke that came in from the fires started outside the mission. They were dead soon after the attack happened. The other security guard leading the men out of the safe room., lost them in the smoke and kept going back into the room looking for them. When the CIA arrived at the compound they found that security guard on the roof of the safe room trying to put holes in the roof so the smoke would escape. Ultimately it was the Libyans who found the bodies and took them to the hospital. Its all in the Senate Intelligence Report on Benghazi. So explain to me how her inaction resulted in the deaths of 4 Americans? The decisions made, were made on the premise that the Libyans would provide security for the embassies, just like the US does in this country, and other countries do around the world.

I don’t disagree with this at all. (In fact, I agree with much of what you said.) I’m not bothered by people returning with a new name or people who on occasion will create an alter because of a private matter. However, what if there were somebody here who has created several (maybe at least five) alters in the past year? Created alters with distinct personalities and roles who will be rotated or who will concurrently post in the same thread or LIKE each others’ posts? Created sleeper identities who post on birthday posts or in innocuous threads for months and then suddenly enter the political world here with identical political theme “tells” and writing “tells”? Identical triggers? I consider that a very different situation and a very serious abuse of the trust within this community. There is a difference between starting-over-anew and being a craven serial deceiver. (And yes, I have Earl Warren’d this. Unfortunately, I have very little fear that I have Oliver Stone’d it.)

ETA: I don't read birthday threads much. I don't know who you are referring to.
Also starting-over-anew and doing exactly what they said people did to them. Does not make sense.

Yes, I agree they’re both wrong. Very wrong. Serious abuses of trust. The birthday post thing is but one example of a strategy. I mentioned it to be illustrative. I edited my post to also include “innocuous threads.” The point is more the dogged preparation for the deceit than the actual birthday thing. (Full deceit disclosure: To prevent identity theft, I actually lie about my birthday whenever I join something online...and then am continually surprised when I get a birthday coupon randomly.)

Yep. It’s almost comical now that the line from some conservatives is always, the democrats are so mean. Funny thing is, what their claiming is the left silencing them is not much more that we’re providing FACT and the truth to their outrageous lies and half truths or just plain right wing propaganda. With the destruction that trump has already done, the divisiveness he creates, the daily attacks on the democratic people—nope I’m not going to stand for it either. My message would be—if there is a thread/discussion going on, and you want to participate then be prepared to be called out on the lies and bullshit when it’s dished out. If your tender little feelings are hurt by that, then go find somewhere like Fox forums, Toni Lauren, Hannity, Alex Jones, et al, where there is a non-stop echo chamber of lies and converse over there. Your tired old excuse of Democrats are meanies is just that—tired and old. Your feigned butthurt broken record gaslighting is not wanted nor helpful. The predictable “but the Democrats invaded our thread...wah wah wah...” try not to throw those rocks, glass houses and all that jazz. There are conservatives with fairly new created ID’s who obviously have history here that are doing nothing more than trolling, mocking, and posting their sanctimonious “moral superiority “ crap aimed at the more liberal peas. And one HUGE reason that the threads tank is when current happenings in politics are being discussed, you can always count on the conservatives to “but but but HRC, Obama did it, state that it was worse with Hillary (and Hillary was never President) and haul the gaslighting to redirect or move the goalposts on the conversation. (And then we hear the conservatives whine again that their being silenced). You admitted to creating a new identity because people were mean to you on the old board on political discussions. Peas of the opposite party do it here and they are cowards.
Gaslighting indeed.
Sorry but no. I’ve had this ID on this board since it started. JUST LIKE many others have done. I know you’re trying really hard to make all this the same, but it’s not. I didn’t just create an ID within the last 6 months to just come in all the political threads and bash the opposite party. Especially when it’s clear that those who are trolls don’t contribute anything on any other threads—just their political bashing’s of liberals. I have not been bullying peas either. It’s been awhile since I have personally tanked a thread. I didn’t change my ID because peas were being mean to be over politics. There was ONE pea who terrorized me. Big difference. And you know what?—I never changed my ID on the old board even after that happened and my location was posted. I don’t “post peas personal info” (plural as you’ve indicated). I did post a last name ONE time (and I’ve come to discover via many pm’s that many peas already knew her last name). The post was removed expeditiously, and I wouldn’t do it again. And you seem to be the only one who continues to bring it up. I’m not the first nor the last who has tagged another pea in a conversation. So what? You can always choose to block me instead of following me around.

Didn't give you the right to do so on this board. I did say you've had the same ID. You also said you changed it on the old board because peas were mean to you on political threads. Now it's because one pea terrorized you. Doesn't change. You continue to do the same thing on this board. ---Be mean
Continue to deny you are a bully and pull the block me instead. Isn't the theme of most political threads you need to stand up to bullies or you are compliant? Make yourself a victim and say that I follow you around. Nice try.
You take tagging peas in a conversation to a whole new level. That's what.

Also, I have no idea but when I quote you, instead of your profile picture popping up, there's a photo of a white woman wearing glasses for a brief second then the profile picture appears. I find it very odd and don't know if that's your photo. Anyway, you're welcome.
