Does anyone remember the old Cricut infomercials that used to run on TV? Maybe around 2005 or 2006? I would get so captivated by it and just sit there and watch. I wanted one so bad, but that was when times were tougher, and after watching the infomercial 50 times, I realized the price they were advertising was not the actual price, but just the price to get it sent to you - then they billed you for the full amount! LOL I finally did buy a Cricut Expression later. I had it for about 6 months, sold it, and bought the Silhouette. I was so pissed off that they sued the creators of Sure Cuts A Lot, that I didn't want the machine anymore. I think I sold it for the same price I paid for my new Silhouette! This is a short clip I found on Youtube. I still remember the 'chirp chirp' sound. God, I hate Cricut now! But I still love Silhouette! Cricut Infomercial from back in the day....

Yes and I have the Expression still, although I have not touched it in years. I vaguely remember the Sure Cuts A Lot problem but not sure what that was all about. Since I also have a new computer now, I'm guessing the Expressions will no longer work if I decided to try and use it now?

I don't remember the informercials, but I got my first Cricut with a 50% off coupon just before they stopped excepting coupons for them.

Sure Cuts A Lot and Make The Cut allowed you to use those software programs to design with, then hook up the Expression and cut. You could use your own designs and any fonts... you were freed from the Cricut Cartridges... Cricut was not happy (although they somewhat embraced it when it first came out - at least on the old Cricut Message Boards).... You could still use SCAL and MTC, as long as you didn't do a certain firmware update on the Expression. Any software Cricut had that you could use online with any of their older machines has been dumped... so you are limited to your cartridges for your Expression now. There are bootleg copies of SCAL out there for sale, but I wouldn't spend any money on them. They are 100% bootlegged, and most likely are not compatible with the newer operating systems. They had to stop making them Cricut compatible in 2010 or 2011 I think.

I got the bug the weekend it came out. I used my 40% off on it before it was printed on the coupon!

I have the personal, the Expression and one of the two programs, don't remember which. I still have all of that, along with a bunch of cartridges. Not sure why I'm keeping them though. Do you remember those rare cartridges that sold for hundreds of dollars? Paper Pups and Hello Kitty come to mind.

Paper Pups and Hello Kitty come to mind. Oh yes! Hello Kitty was so sought after! I think the Cricut message boards is where I discovered 2Peas! LOL Those Cricut boards could get INTENSE! I remember someone posted a link to get all the Cricut Designs that someone had converted to use with the SCAL/MTC software. Ohh... $h!t hit the fan then! I think someone was good and pissed at Cricut and released them all.. It is super easy (but not really the right thing to do) to get Cricut designs for free and use them with Silhouettes, etc. I don't think anyone really cares enough to do that anymore.

I bought mine on a black Friday sale. I ordered it over the phone with a large box store. It wasn't Michael's or Joanns, or Hobby Lobby, it was a store that wasn't in my area (California). I had to ask for a specific associate and gave him my card number and he shipped it out with the sale price. I eventually sold it and upgraded to the expression.

I still have mine.
Someday I will learn how to use it correctly.

I remember those infomercials. My hubby even called about it one time, but the price was pretty high. I ended up getting my first Expression at Walmart. I am still a Cricut user. I have a Cameo, but have not used it in a long time.
