If the crazy dude that beheaded the guy on the Greyhound bus is already out, this guy will walk. Canada's justice system is screwed up. Yet the duck lady causing an accident goes to jail.

Day passses are definitely not the same as being released from custody... so I found your comment overly sensational. I know from personal experience on a murder trial that the Canadian justice system is NOT screwed up. Not at all.
As for Magnotta, he's admitted to the murder, now it's a question of how sane he was. And I think he was pretty sane, or at least sane enough to plan and plot everything he did.
Unfortunately, there is a crisis in the EMS world. He is not the only one to take his/her life because of the things seen on the job. It's currently quite scary how many are taking their lives right now. Imagine how many are not being reported for every one that is. And that's so sad to think about.

You have your views I have mine.
I never said he was released that was someone else's term. I said he was out. And he Is. He is out in the community. Nothing sensationalist about that. It's a fact.
I totally agree there is a crisis in the EMS world.

And that is absolutely true. He is able to move about as any other citizen. That is scary given his crime.

But he isn't released -- or "out". That's my point. He's still being accounted for and being forced to take his medicine. He isn't completely free. I don't understand WHY the system has allowed this -- what are the advantages?

Since the details, the important one(s), that he his access to the public, unsupervised, I'm not sure why you were hammering her about your interpretation of the words used. And are you sure he is "forced" to take his medicine? Having worked in a psychiatric hospital, unless the meds were given IV, it really was impossible to guarantee the meds were taken. We sometimes found clients used elaborate schemes and methods to not take their psychiatric medicines. And they were successful in their shenanigans. I guess I'm

Vince Li was found NCR. If his condition weren't re-evaluated and liberties granted based on his response to therapies then what would the point of NCR be?

A mentally insane person commits a heinous crime is incarcerated in a mental health facility (instead of prison) and gets day passes. That is really f*cked up.

Luka Magnotta's reminds me of Jeffrrey Dahlmer....I think the shtick on Saturday Night Live was " what sane person eats people?" It's frightening to think he could be living in the community with the likes of Karla Homolka (just to provide another example of the screwed up Canadian legal system.
