I have major skin issues including psoriasis and rosacea. During the winter, my face really suffers with the rosacea. I use Rodan & Fields for my skincare. But I think I need to invest in some makeup for those days that my face is so messed up that it needs to be covered. My face tends to be dry, not oily. Recommendations for stuff like foundation and cover up??

My holy grail is It Cosmetics. If I’m going out in the evening I use the CC cream. For everyday work, I use Bye, Bye lines foundation.

Este Lauder double wear foundation covers very nicely.

I have sensitive skin and rosacea. I only wash my face with Dove, use Clinique lotion and cannot use any type of foundation or concealer or I break out. For rosacea I use metro gel (Rx) to control the breakouts and redness. I live in the Midwest so weather like we’re having now is murder on my poor cheeks.

I have rosacea and use CeraVe to wash my face per my dermatologist. I've never found makeup that covers it well enough but I will say after trying so many topicals and prescriptions I tried laser treatment. Game changer! A series of 3 treatments and I repeat it probably once a year. Alcohol and cold still irritate it but on a daily basis I am thrilled!

Do you live near a Sephora? I like to go there to get samples of foundation to make sure it wears well for me. I wear foundation daily due to the redness in my skin. I love the it cosmetics cc cream and just for bye bye lines as well and like it. QVC is a great place to buy it cosmetics.

I don't have rosacea, but I do have very sensitive skin. I use Oil of Olay Sensitive Skin facial cleaning cloths and only Clinique cosmetics. Anything else I have an allergic reaction.

Another shout-out for CeraVe - their moisturising cream has been a game changer for my sensitive skin. And it's cheap.

I believe I have shared before that I have rosacea also. My cheeks are always very pink. Here is what I use, and it works beautifully for me. As you can see, no red cheeks in my avatar (all hidden by the makeup regime below). 1. Dermalogica Barrier Repair 2. Lucy Minerals Powder FoundationThose two things work beautifully for me. Other powder foundations do not work. The owner of Lucy Minerals has very sensitive skin and rosacea. She used to have photos up but I can't find them. It was much worse than mine, and hers is covered beautifully also. Edited to say that I am only sharing the facial makeup I use since I think that's what you are looking for. Hopefully you like how the Rodan + Fields is working for you. I quit using it only because I find the Dermalogica products work much better for me.

Brandy327 do you use the sensitive skin line from Rodan & Fields? That's what I use and in the winter I need a little extra moisture, so sometimes I use the night cream even in the morning. I also am a huge It Cosmetics fan and it really does help cover rosacea and is kind to my sensitive skin. Over the last year, I've had several treatments at a med spa to help my rosacea and it has really worked for me! I did a combo of 3 skin pen treatments and 3 IPL treatments. I did it every 6-8 weeks and my cheeks are ALMOST rosacea free!

My good friend has recently approached a new skincare and makeup regimen for rosacea at the recommendation of her Dr. She switched to all CereVe and dermalogica products and has had good results.

Does it only help with the redness? Or does it help with the bumps too? Is it done in a doctors office? Cost? Covered by insurance??

I tried switching products a couple of years ago and it literally burned my face. Eta: yeah I use the soothe, not the blemish. Lololol

The laser treatments are done in the doctors office. My regular dermatologist didn't have the equipment so I had to go to a dermatologist who specializes in cosmetic dermatology. It is not covered by insurance and is in the $200 range but I've quit all topicals and scripts. I don't have bumps so can't respond to that. The first treatment doesn't wow me but the second is where I notice the biggest difference. It isn't a comfortable procedure but it's doable.

I would ask for samples of the Soothe line. It's one of the only things that doesn't burn my face. But the laser treatments really helped that too. There are tons less blood vessels that you can see. I think burning those up at the surface helped with my skin sensitivity.

I was at the dermatologist 2 weeks ago and he was telling me about treating roscea with laser treatments. He said, for me it would take 3 treatments and cost about $1200 for all 3. I am in the Seattle are were things tend to cost more so maybe in your area it wouldn’t be as much. After hearing the cost, I am not planning on doing this anytime soon as it is considered a cosmetic procedure and not covered by insurance.

I am not planning on doing this anytime soon as it is considered a cosmetic procedure and not covered by insurance. I paid around $100 for each IPL treatment and $150 each for skin pen, but my medspa runs package specials. Perhaps it would benefit you to check the suburbs and see if there are other options.

If you want to stick with Rodan and Fields, I would try the soothe line. I used the Redefine and really irritated my face. It doesn't sound like the acne line would be right for you, although maybe with rosacea you have acne-like bumps? I have that and it is really annoying.

My dermatologist also recommended cerave but it made me breakout. The metro gel works for me since my symptoms are relatively mild. I just have to keep it up daily in this weather or I pay for it later.

I also use Lucy Minerals foundation in a Lucy Light formula which doesn’t irritate my face. However, I can’t use brushes because they do make my face worse (not just theirs, any brushes), so I use a sponge applicator that is connected to a container from a former product I used by Philosophy(which has been discontinued, of course🙄).

I have rosacea and this is what I’ve found works best for me. My skin care is very basic-Dove soap & rose witch hazel for cleansing followed by Murad moisturizer, eye cream and Neutrogena anti-acne gel. That alone had really helped with the redness. For makeup, I use a primer that had a green base-right now I’m using Stila One Step Correct. I’ve been using It cosmetics for many years and had been mostly happy with them. I just started using their Bye, Bye Redness cream & powder and I love it! This is my favorite foundation by far. It has great lasting power-the redness stays away all day.

Was it the night time powder they used to have? If so, let me check my stash. I think I have two unopened boxes of that I’ll never use. I *may* have just chucked it when I moved, but I can’t remember. If I still have it, you’re welcome to them and I’ll mail them to you. ETA: I just reread your post and saw it was Philosophy. I have the stuff from Bare Minerals.

I kept a few containers with the sponge that’s on top and was able to buy replacement sponges for a while, too, but now I can’t find those either.
