The movie looks great-can't wait to see it. Just wondering about the book.

I did not like the book. It was a huge hit but very disappointing. I think this will be a case where the movie is better than the book, I was shocked when I heard they'd landed Ben Affleck.

I forced myself to finish it because of all the hype. It was dreadful and the ending was worse.

I tried but after a few chapters stopped. I don't know how the book ends but am looking forward to the movie.

I read it a while ago, and can't remember anything about it but the ending.

I liked the first half of the book--hated the second half. I'm hoping the move will be better.

I liked it. The twists and turns kept me totally addicted. The ending was awful though.

I liked it. It wasn't a deep literature read, but it was fun and creative. I'm looking forward to the movie.

Twice actually! I read it when it first came out and then read it again about a month ago to refresh my memory. We're going to see it on Saturday and I'm so excited! 85% score on Rotten Tomatoes so that's a really good sign. I generally really like David Fincher movies.

I loved it. I couldn't put it down. I especially loved the "cool girl" passage.

I didn't want my money back, but it's not a book I would recommend to others. I'm not much of a Ben Affleck fan, so I'll wait for it to come out on DVD. The trailer does look pretty good.

That is where I am. I have had it on my kindle forever. Read a few chapters and could not get into it. Kept hearing how great it was, but I just couldn't get interested in it.
Now I see the movie press and think maybe I should try it again. Or .. just see the movie... on HBO, eventually.

Took me halfway into the book to be hooked really...then I enjoyed it...then came the ending and that runined it for me.
I do want to see the movie though.

I liked the book. I hated the ending, of course, but I also kind of loved it. It pissed me off but then again if it had ended the way I would have wanted it would have been predictable.

I wanted both the leads to die. Actually, scratch that. They deserved each other. Horrid, horrid, people.

I did, and I really liked it. I'm not a movie person, so probably won't see it, but I will be very interested to know what kind of reviews it gets.

I enjoy books where I can bond with at least one character. These characters were vile. The book held my attention, but the ending was beyond awful. I'll wait for the dvd.

I loved it. No, the main characters weren't especially sympathetic,I liked that. A nice change of pace. Very well written and I like the different perceptions of one event from different people. I liked the ending, too, so there. Diabolical! ;p
The whole thing was just so different from the usual. I made DH read it as a cautionary tale.

I hated both characters. The way it ended suited me just fine! Agreed. What other way could it have ended? The ending was true to the book. I read it last year, couldn't put it down. I'm re-reading it now in prep for the movie which, by the trailers, looks quite different from the book so that'll be interesting. But I don't really care much - I'll watch Ben Affleck read the phone book

Did not like it. I can't read books where I hate all the characters. They rewrote the storyline for the movie and they brought in a great director. They also brought in Ben Affleck because he is good at deflecting the negative about movies. Dh and I did not like the book BUT we will see the movie. It looks good.

the book was a good read. The ending, while not everyone's cup of tea, was refreshing because it nailed the complexities of flawed characters perfectly. No "fixing" the characters in this book, for sure.
If Rotten Tomatoes is already giving it an 85%, then it's a good film. They've been my "go to" site for movie reviews for ten years, and they are pretty much on the money for factual, non-biased reviews.

I hated it and agree with those who said that by the end, I wanted them both dead. Reading in USA Today that Ben has a full frontal nudity scene has me willing to give the movie a shot.
