Slight hijack here while we are griping about Target: Am I the only one who HATES their new layout in the store?!? You can’t find a darn thing and the whole ‘boutique’ look makes NO sense. I hate it so much!!! I used to love going there and now it makes me so annoyed it’s not even fun anymore. I don’t usually mind changes, but this one is just awful. Rant over. Carry on! Yes they just finished redoing our store and I hate it, can’t find anything! I get what they are going for, but they’ve taken the target out of target! Ugh

I had this experience a few weeks ago. Some shoes for DS were on clearance for like $6 online but they were out of his size. I knew I had just seen them in the store so I ran over to get them and they were still marked full price. I tried to pull them up in the app and they didn't show up at all anymore-in store or online. I thought I was losing it. I turned off my location services, opened the mobile website instead of the app, and there they were. Went to the counter for a price match.
I get that what's on clearance online may be different than what's on clearance in store so that particular discrepancy didn't even bother me. It's that "they" seemingly "hid" the clearance price from me once I got on site.

I knew it! I recently wanted to buy something, looked online for it and saw a good sale price, went into the store and the listed price was different. I even had customer service check it out and they didnt find my sale price anywhere. I knew something had to be up if my, my husband, and son all saw the sale price and when we got into the store they acted like we were making it up. This makes me feel so much better, i cant wait to tell my husband and son that we were not going crazy!

Ours was the third one to go through the change several years ago. I just now am finding things without wandering all over the damn store. They need to make an app for what aisle each item is located. Did you know any item that you look for on the app will tell you what aisle it's located on? Makes things so much easier!

Move over and make room on your bench. I DETEST it! I actually have been in Target a half dozen times at least since they redid it and not once have I bothered or wanted to look at clothing. It’s stupid and I am NOT a fan. The sad thing is that almost all of my wardrobe is from target and at some point i’m Going to have to buy new clothes. Le sigh.

I've never been a target fan and don’t really get the hype. Lots of overpriced junk, really. I end up going a couple times a year and am always underwhelmed or disappointed. I was there this weekend looking for sheets and a Fitbit. All fit bits sold out, the sheets were cheap and over priced so I left with nothing. And with this shady news? Even more of a reason to not go.

They did the same with me over a comforter set last week but I had taken a screenshot of the price online because I thought I was going crazy.
"Im sorry maam. There is nothing I can do"
'Well, that's the wrong answer do you want to try again?'
"My hands are really tied."
'The good news is that I've got all day and am happy to wait while you find someone who can untie them'
It was a $40 difference and it changed back to the sale price when I went back home so I went back to the store that same day.
So frustrated.

I saw this story on the news last night, and they said that Wal-Mart doesn't do it, but I know they do. The price might not change in the parking lot like that, but I know the online prices are not always the same as in store. I guess I don't see it as a big deal. The online price is just that, an online price. You can get the item for that price if you buy it online. Yes Walmart’s online prices have always differed from in store prices sometimes lhifher mostly lower. I’ve bought stuff online with free in store pick up to get around it. But you know it makes less sense that online/I store pickup is less as it is that it’s less work for them if I go in the store find my own item & bring it to the cashier than if I order it online and some employee has to go out on the floor to find it then set it aside. Then come to the pick up desk find out what I want, go find it & then do a transaction that might as well be me paying for it. It’s like twice as much work.

Our Walmart just went through a major over haul and I hear others grumbling in the aisles like me, wondering where anything is. And honestly it doesn’t look any better. I think they really just wanted to redo the floors but are saying is redesigned. It’s not. And they split up departments so half of the craft section is now out front and the other half is in the back. Makes no sense to me. But I’m saving money by not shopping there as much so I guess that’s good. Oh and we now have like 40 self check outs and less than 10 full service which I have to use since I pay by check. They REALLY want you to do all the work.

Chapters/Indigo in Canada have different prices online than they do in the store.
And they will not honor online prices in the store, period.

since Target is only 0.5 miles from my house, I'm there a lot. Can't stand the cartwheel app because it always freezes up on my phone. They are remodeling it now, it shouldn't be too bad - it will be like the one across town. I haven't experienced the price difference thing yet because I have turned off the location on my phone. Some things are cheaper on line and they will honor the difference, although I haven't tried it recently. Like having the CVS pharmacy there, some behind the counter meds are actually cheaper at Target than CVS ( sudafed), there was a $3 difference there. Still love Bulleye's playground although they have been really ssssssssssssssssslllllllllllllllooowwwwwwwwwwwwww to restock it since the beginning of the year. For me, it is much better than going to Walmart, which makes me want to pull my hair out and I can't ever find anything there.
Although I'm using the wording incorrectly, I meant the target app and not cartwheel.

Kind of off topic, but not really - I see a bunch of folks saying “cartwheel app”. The cartwheel app hasn’t worked for at least six months for me. They merged the two together in the regular target app and while it references cartwheel offers on the home page, it is 100% better than the cartwheel app was.
I tried this today with my phone and while having location turned on, I can still see sale items in the regular app. Am I doing something different or is it because I’m using the regular app and not the cartwheel one anymore?

My Cartwheel and Target have been merged for quite a while now.

I first noticed that with my dog's food. It was significantly marked down on line and I had some good coupons. As you can't use coupons online I didn't pre-order but just went to store. Not on sale in store and app didn't show sale price.
Signed out of app and went to reg target.com site. Sale price showed. Took screenshot and showed at register. They honor as makes no sense not to as I could just order online while standing there and get the price.
Now I tend to screenshot a lot.
Also works in reverse. Sometimes price lower in store than online with store pick up. Recently ordered a quanity of bottled water I enjoy (Hint-watermelon flavored) that included $10 gift card with 25 purchase of beverages.
I had other stuff to get there and only pre-ordered to avoid having to ask someone to get more out of back. They tend to only have few out a a time.
Anyway ran to get other stuff first and noticed in store they were 99cents each vs 1.49. So I grabbed few more to make it qualify for gift card at sale price and then went to customer service desk and asked to cancel my order and just let me pay with other stuff at check out.
When explained why there was no hesitation and actually an 'I don't blame you.'
Drives me a bit nuts the games they play. Thankfully my target isn't major metropolitan so customer service is usually good and quick.

I hate the shopping is so complicated now. You have to check the app, the online site, the store, the app w/location on - if you want to see what the lowest price really is.
Like people have nothing better to do in their busy already stressful lives than play "The Price is..."

It was not for every item. I think in the story, 4 of 10 items were affected.
