Some of this will be a repeat, at least to some of you, but I wanted to tell the whole story in one place.
So we did sell our house outside of Seattle. We took less that originally offered, but we are going to get a share of the profits when the developer flips it. Our oldest dd went by there early this week, and the house is going to be virtually unrecognizable by the time they are finished. It should sell for close to double what we were paid.
Meanwhile, we left Seattle on January 3rd. We drove cross country in a car and RV to Atlanta with our oldest dd and granddaughter along for that part of the trip. DD drove the car, and hubby drove the RV. We had some adventures, like the 60 mph cross winds in northern New Mexico, and having our RV searched for drugs in Arkansas, but we made it in one piece! DD and GD flew back to the Seattle area from Atlanta. We then started house hunting. First in the southern suburbs or Atlanta. Then outside Savannah. Then the suburbs of Jacksonville. And finally the eastern and southern suburbs of Tampa. Yesterday marked four weeks since we left, and yesterday we bought a house! We actually put in an offer on one earlier in the week, but it wasn't accepted. But I much prefer the house we DID get yesterday. In fact from the first time we saw the house until the offer was accepted was less than 6 hours!
Hubby has started doing his part-time work for the company he worked for in Seattle. He works MWF 3-7 pm. So far it's working out just fine even though we're still in the RV.
So we close on our new home (well, new to us, it's not new) on March 4th, pending an inspection of course. I have the bathroom I've always dreamed of (huge tub, 2 sinks, double shower and even a vanity), the walk-in closet I really wanted, and outside we have a screened patio with a pool and a hot tub that flows into the pool. It's gorgeous!
When we got to the Tampa area, we knew we were staying here, even though we had liked Atlanta and Jacksonville. We liked Savannah too, but it wasn't practical for us.
I am still in a daze, both that we made it all the way here, that we are now residents of Florida, that we bought a house. . . and that I'm doing okay. I've had a few bad days, but no more than I would have had if I'd just been at home doing nothing. I'm hella proud of myself, particularly since I did the car driving from Atlanta onwards, and some days I wasn't feeling too good, but I managed anyway.
So that's my update. And here I sit on Feb 1st, had to turn the AC on in the RV as it is about 80 and there is zero wind today, so I couldn't get a cross breeze. I'm wearing a tank top and skorts, and I am happy as hell!
If you don't hear from me for a few days or so, it's because my laptop is being difficult. I have a new one on the way.
