We are not sports fans in this house. I have never been to a Super Bowl party. Dh has never seen a football game! Weve been invited to a Super Bowl party, and we are bring an appetizer. So, my question, I live about 40 minutes from the stadium where the Rams play. I thought it would be cute to use the Rams team colours to decorate my serving platter. Am I right in assuming that because of proximity that most people in attendance will be Rams fans?

No. I would not assume that. The team they are playing has a strong fan base, and they are expected to win so I think there could be a bunch of fans for the other team.

I would not overthink this. I am a Packer fan and I'd eat off a Viking plate.
It should all be in good fun.

That’s what I would assume. But I’m not into football either so I could be way off base also.😁

Yes, you can safely assume that most people will be rooting for the Rams given your proximity to the stadium.

All the Supebowl parties I have been to have been a mix of fans of both teams. There has never been an issue of someone having hard feelings for attendees of the other teams' fans. Just good, clean fun.
Since you live in Rams land (as do I), I think you would be correct in thinking that most of the people at the party will be rooting for the Rams. I think your idea of decorating your serving platter in Rams colors is really cute, and will add to the party atmosphere.
I say go for it!

While not all of the attendees may be Rams fans, I would absolutely decorate with the Rams colors and assume that a good majority of them will be rooting for the hometown team.
I am from New England and while not a Patriots fan and I know that many here are and that they are considered the hometown team. I would definitely use the patriots colors if I was attending another party (other than my own).
I also agree I wouldn't overthink it or worry about it. People will just be happy to enjoy good food and good company.

They are more likely to be Rams fans for this game even if they aren't regular season Rams fans. We're having a party Sunday and door from the house to the garage will have a sign saying "Patriot fans viewing area".

I have to know where your husband grew up that he has never seen a game! I think using the local team’s color will look great. Yes, there might be that one fan who refuses to eat off of the opposing team’s colors (I am related to one), but we don’t care about that guy

I would not overthink this. I am a Packer fan and I'd eat off a Viking plate. It should all be in good fun. A few years ago, DS gave my brother and his wife a plaque that says, “A house divided,” with a Packers helmet and a Viking helmet.

dewryce, lol he grew up on the coast of central California. His parents are not sports people at all. When we got invited to the Super Bowl party, he asked the host which sport it was for. We haven't had broadcast tv in the 30 years we've been together, so no commercials to clue him in. He dropped out of school after 10th grade because he kept failing gym. Lol. He got his GED, went to Jr college, and then on to Uni and law school. Not all dropouts are unsuccessful When I was pregnant with ds18, someone invited him to go on a mountain bike ride. He got home with a cut that needed stitches, huge patches of dirt rash, and a bruise that took 3days to appear and was the size of my head. He loves it and has never looked back. He rides all the time and takes several trips a year to mountain biking meccas. That's his sport.

I’m gobsmacked that having lived in the US there was never a game on at home, or a friend’s house especially at Thanksgiving, or a bar! I had to laugh about not knowing what sport it was for. My family was big into college baseball, watched on TV as well as attended the College World Series every summer. Sunday was also all NFL all day. My sister, while attending one of her rare baseball games, threw up her arms and yelled “touchdown!” when a homerun was hit. Watching people mountain biking simultaneously scares me silly and makes me want to hop on. It is definitely not for the faint of heart!

The thing about Southern California sports fans is that most people, or at least their families, came from somewhere else. At any sporting event, you will find a significant number of fans for the opposing team. (I’m looking at you, Red Sox fans!) Combine that with the fact that LA didn’t have a football team for 20 years, and most of your guests probably aren’t Rams or Patriots fans as their #1 choice.
That being said, LA fans are catching Rams fever and hope they beat the Patriots! I say stick with the blue and gold.

dewryce as the dorky kid that repeatedly flunked gym class, he was also pretty weak in the friend department. No dating, no sleepovers, etc. I'm sure you all must be jealous of my catch. LOL. He actually totally looks like a football jock with huge shoulders, a trim 32in waist and big powerful legs. My mom always told us girls to keep an eye on the dorky guys as they were the ones that turned into the best men. He is a fantastic husband, father, friend who doesn't get sports and sucks at geography in the most embarrassing way.

My husband was a band geek with a big fluffy plume on his hat, which I’m sure added (not needed) height and a certain elegance to his 6’5” rail thin body, so no shade from me! As an adult he is less of a dork as evidenced by him just having sang a bit of an *NSYNC song and did the corresponding choreography for me. It just surprises me he hasn’t seen a single game because it seems to be so ingrained in our culture. But now he will! Y’all have fun

dewryce, Indeed, dorks are the best. I'll lay you odds he doesn't glance at the tv even once. My bet is he will find his way to the garage to mess with the host's mountain bikes, and hang out by the food.

I wouldn't assume they were all Rams fans, but you can definitely use whatever team colors you want. You might get some razzing from a few people, but no one will care or be upset. We go to a SB party every year and there are lots of people wearing whatever "their" teams colors are - mostly 49ers. And, I've been know to wear Raider gear (YIKES!) to the party even though I'm not a fan.
