I read about that the other day. I would definitely use that service. I do wonder what the effect of pollution from shipping and pick up of containers would be, and if it would be less than the plastic.

I would do it but if people aren’t recycling now, I’m afraid they won’t use this service either. 😢

That is pretty nifty. For what its worth, I still have a milkman. We rinse the jugs and place back in the milkbox.

I think it has potential. Recycling in its current form can be difficult. People in apartments don’t always have space for receptacles and some buildings don’t have seperate dumpsters. It’s the same with trash pickup—cities don’t always offer separate pickup and recycling centers can be miles away, not to mention not everyone owners a vehicle. I’m really hoping this catches on.

Very interesting. I would absolutely use a service like this. I try to avoid buying things in plastic when I can, and if I can’t, I do my best to reuse it around the house somehow. I have numerous large plastic jugs from kitty litter in my garage holding all kinds of things like my plaster of Paris for projects, my special work food mix, dry cat food, fertilizer, Oxiclean, and smaller jars from my protein powder for nails, screws, yard gloves, sprinkler parts, paint for touch up in the house, etc. They stack nicely inside the cupboard on their sides with the contents written on the lid and I don’t have to worry about bugs.
In the house, I have taken dozens of plastic tubs like yogurt containers and covered them in cute papers with Mod Podge and use these as storage in my craft room. I added a handle to some of them to use them like little buckets. They hang on a tall rotating stand I found at a yard sale. I like repurposing the plastic and I really like free organization. It would cost me a fortune to purchase containers for all the bits and pieces I have for different crafts. Plus, they look cute. I reuse pill containers too. I get so many bottles of pills and it bothered me to just toss them.
I hope Loop proves to be workable and that we can stop dumping so much plastic into the landfills and oceans.

I would use this. We tend to stick to certain brands so we’d have to put up the cash for the deposit but it would be a one time cost and worth it.

Sign me up!! I saw a show, and can’t remember where, but if you ordered take out they drop at your door in a container. You eat your meal and put all the plates etc back in the container and set it back outside. Then the restaurant comes back and picks up all the containers to be reused.
