My sweet friend just returned from Europe and brought me a Polish pottery dish shaped like this: divided dishThe dish she gave me is 8 1/2" across, so pretty small - smaller than a Fiesta luncheon plate, too small to use as a serving dish. How would you use this? I know there is a brilliant answer that I'm just not seeing. The only thing that comes to mind for me is the divided dish I used for my toddlers to keep their food from touching. ETA: Have I mentioned it's very small? One section might hold five olives.

I would use something like that for serving pickles and olives at a party.

I have that one and use it for meats/cheeses and sometimes olives etc. Basically just a serving dish or decorative piece. My casserole dishes are my most used.

You could use it in your bedroom to hold your rings/earings overnight. Or display it as a décor piece on an end table or shelf somewhere in the house.

If it is pretty I would put it on my vanity to hold rings etc. or in the entry way to hold keys.

I've seen people serve condiments in the small compartments so they don't have to put the "ugly" bottles on the table. Then the larger compartment was either all sliced pickles, or a combination of pickles and tomatoes.

I would think dipping sauces in the smaller sections and something to dip in the larger. But for a single person. Say mustard, ketchup and sesame seeds in the small sections and bbq pork in the larger.

Even if the spaces are small, I would use it for a little relish tray. Dividing pickles, olives, cheese cubes, etc. maybe a dollop of dip in one?

I think it is either for topping people don't use much of, like slices of jalepenos, pickled onions, etc or is ment to be an individual dish for something like pierogies in the largest section and various dipping things in the sections... not sure what you dip perogies in other than sour cream or what other polish dish is dipped.

I think they are designed for nuts or candy. I'd use is as several have suggested to hold jewelry near the sink or in the bedroom. You could also put jewelry in one half and your keys in the other.

Decoration in a china cabinet?😉 J/k. You've received some great ideas. Sometimes you just have to wait until the need strikes and it'll be perfect for the job.

I use a small dish like that for taco toppings other than lettuce, cheese and salsa. For example, sliced scallions, sliced radishes, chopped cilantro, diced tomatoes, etc The small, sparse toppings.
