Apparently Ben Affleck goes full frontal in his new movie. So the morning female host mentioned that her and her hubby got in an animated "discussion" because she got a tad excited about it. That men see boobs in movies all the time. So she asked the question - do movie boobs equal movie dong? Or are we comparing apples to oranges? (or bananas as the case may be )

I don't think it's quite the same thing. Close, but not quite. We see naked boobs and bare chests (male) a LOT in movies. Naked tushes, too. However, lower-half frontal nudity is not exactly common for either male or female in typical movies. True, it still happens a lot more with females than males.

Ben Affleck has been my crush forever! I'll have to check on this and report back! I think front nudity is a whole different level than chest. I'm no prude but even as teens, I wouldn't want my kids seeing that but I wouldn't have as much problem with my son seeing boobs or at least intense cleavage. I do let them see some Rated R movies so I'm ok with most things (they are 14 DS and 17 yo DD).

Also, why does there have to be so much sexual content in a movie to make it a "great" movie?
Use acting skills and not your nude body to make a great move.

I dont mind nudity if it fits with the story, but if it is blatantly gratuitous it's a huge turnoff. And I think most TV/Movie boobs are gratuitous nowadays. That said, I'm very excited about Ben's nudity.

And before somebody gets it their head. I am not a man hater and I like sex. And show me a ripped guy in a towel just ready to fall off... Well now that is a whole other story.

As the old saying goes sex sells. And this is based on a book so it isn't like they are just throwing it in. I won't see it because the book was awful. Seriously terrible.

Why is nudity automatically sexual? THAT is a huge problem in our culture. Some movies have nudity that's not remotely sexual but is an important factor in the telling of the story. Does it mean it's not a great role for an actor just because there's sexual content or nudity?

I get so annoyed when people complain that Game of Thrones, for example, has too much nudity and violence. Ummmm.... That's what happens in the books!! It's part of the story!! But I digress. I think our culture is too puritanical in some ways and then too sexualized in others. God forbid kids see their mom changing at home, but Beyoncé can writhe on stage in practically a bathing suit and that's entertainment. Smdh.

I think it's about time. Full frontal female nudity has been around for a very long time, not just boobs. I think men don't want us to know what size they are. It's obvious if a woman has a small, medium, or large chest even in her clothes. Men have been able to hide that about their own size-variable parts.
Seriously, though, do it in context, not gratuitously. There was some male nudity in the HBO movie The Normal Heart that was absolutely appropriate to the scene, and not remotely sexual. I much prefer nudity (male and female) done in a realistic way than the lengths movies go to hide those parts. How many people slide out of bed with a sheet wrapped around them to go to the bathroom? Sometimes people are just naked.
