I'm watching Morning Joe and the White House press secretary is going to bat for the head of the Secret Service. It's farcical. They let an armed felon ride in the same elevator as the President without a clue that the man was armed or a felon. They let a mentally ill person get into the private residence. What is there to defend?

I was stunned by the fact that this person got into the White House in the first place! But then to find out how far into the building he got? Unbelievable! What if he'd been a terrorist and planted a bomb? Or shot one of the First Family, had they been in residence? These are not far-fetched possibilities in our day and age.
What is going on with the Secret Service?

I don't understand how anyone can support the head of the SS after all of the blunders of late. Their job is to protect the President and his family. They have failed to do so several times of late. Time for some changes from the head of SS on down. Heads need to roll before something happens and someone gets hurt or killed. They have become to lax in their jobs.

I tend to be a bit of let them sort it out kind of girl-when they found the agents with hookers, I was willing to let the agency take care of the consequences. But it sure does seem that the agency as a whole either needs new leadership (again) or needs to be completely reorganized as it pertains to Presidential protection. They seem to be having some real problems. He hangs out with Bill Ayers what's the difference? A crook with a crook. Perhaps you don't care for the current administration, but I would assume that you would want the issues taken care of prior to a President that you do like?

I just read about the elevator incident. All I can say is WTH??? If that man had drawn his weapon and fired.....I just can't wrap my head around the complete breakdown of common sense, let alone the standard protocols that were ignored. Someone has GOT to be held accountable.

Unfortunately a lot of his appointees just haven't been up to the job and this one is no exception. She needs to go and the SS needs a top to bottom overhaul. Things like this just should not be happening.

It is unacceptable. Period, over and out.
Julia Pierson should be fired.
Every procedure needs to be evaluated, every agent reviewed for continuing service.
No excuses.

To assume one person can step into an organization like the SS root out all the problems and fix them in a period of 1 year is stupid.

He hangs out with Bill Ayers what's the difference? A crook with a crook. I can't STAND it when people are disrespectful like this. He is our President. Anyone who knows me knows I don't like the current administration, but I want him to be safe. Blunders like this embolden our enemies, and thus not only endanger the President (& his family!) but all the rest of us as well. If a Republican gets elected President, the same people who were repeatedly disrespectful to this President will be whining at the Republican's treatment by liberals. And this Republican is disgusted by it.

But the day some friends of ours were making jokes about the village missing their idiot, I made very clear that I didn't want to hear any of that. I just think that the office of president deserves some respect whether or not you agree with the policies of the current president. I hate that politics has dissolved into playground name-calling and bullying. On both sides.

I am glad you are a republican they are just as much a problem as the democrats.

I heard a story on the radio and the person said that Michelle Obama was furious - I would hate to be the SS dealing with a mad mama bear! It must be so hard to be president and worry about your kids. Now add in these crazy incidents. There was also somebody who fired shots at the White House and it was not followed up at the time (somebody said it was just a car backfiring). A few days later a maid found shattered glass in a room and bullets lodged in the window frame/wall (can't remember which). I hope they fix whatever needs to be fixed.

Regardless of whether or not you like the current President, his administration or political ideology, he IS our current leader and we-as a country-need him to be protected. Whatever issues the Secret Service has must be addressed as we will continue to have presidents that need to be protected in the future. Perhaps one of those future presidents will be more to your liking, and when that happens, I would assume that you will want he/she and his/her family to be the safest they can possibly be.

I tend to agree with krazyscrapper that you can't expect a new appointee to clean house so thoroughly in one year, at least unless that appointee is a lot more extraordinary than this woman apparently is. I thought her testimony yesterday was appalling. It is meaningless to say, "I take full responsibility," unless you actually do take full responsibility. Which she clearly did not. There is something really wrong at the Secret Service and major changes need to take place. No president (and his/her family) should be put at risk the way this one has. I don't think this used to be the case, so what the hell happened?

The more I think about this the more I am not overly bothered. Should he be protected? YES. But then I get to thinking why should I have to be in elevators with people carrying concealed and open weapons and not the people making the laws? Why do I have to sit in theaters with people carrying? Or eating in restaurants?

I thought her testimony was despicable. I thought the double speak coming from the press secretary this morning was equally despicable which was what prompted me to post. That agency needs to clean house, top to bottom, and I don't care what "relationships of trust" the President has built with his detail and upper management.

This has been going on far too long--Remember when that couple from Real Housewives of DC got into a State Dinner and even met the president Here's a list of Secret Service Breaches and Scandals, including the Salahis. I recall each incident, but when they're put together in a list like this, it just seems that much more unbelievable. The Secret Service better get their act together! We have enough enemies that one of these incidents could have easily led to an assassination or injury. And I don't care what side of the aisle you're on politically. We should all demand better protection for our president and his family.

Haven't heard about the elevator incident -- the prostitutes and then the man getting into the WH are enough to make me go there are VERY SERIOUS issues about them not taking their job seriously. I know that the constant security must get tiring for the President and those who surround him (family, coworkers, etc) but for another group at the WH to shut off alarm systems because they were annoying? I think that some of the blame lies inside the WH itself with the group that complained. And if it were a system problem/malfunctioning, they should have gotten the system fixed rather than shutting it off.
I am not a huge fan of the current President but think he should be protected because of who and what he is. Can you imagine the issues/unrest/civil uprising we would have if he were assassinated?
