I have used the Loreal Excellence color for years. I am thinking about trying something new and I *think* this might be the one.
If you have tried it I would like to know what you think.

Curious as well. I have dark hair with a good bit of gray, actually white, coming in, and it is HARD to cover. Off the shelf stuff will not touch it, and I HATE going to have my hair done.

My sister has used it to cover her greys, she has very dark brown hair. I think when she does a full color it looks okay, but just touch ups look obvious, you can see where the color was reapplied and where it wasn’t. User error or product? Not sure.

I use it. I really like the color itself on me, which is why I keep using it. However, it seems like the color somewhat washes out or something - I don't feel like my grays are covered for as long as when I use other colors. (I'm not referring to regrowth, as that would obviously be the same with any color. This just seems to fade off of the grays.) It's a thick liquid (not a cream or mousse or anything) with a pleasant smell for something like that. You definitely get a nice amount (so if you have longer hair, you are probably fine with one bottle unless it's hip length or something). They give you 2 pairs of gloves, a cap, a wipe for oops spots, a barrier cream, and a sample of shampoo and conditioner. It is a more transparent color, I think, so the grays just show up as highlights.
I'm torn. I would probably still use my old one (the John Frieda foam one) if I could still get the color I like. However, they no longer seem to make it, so I keep using the Madison Reed for now.

I've used it once and liked it, but thought the smell was horrid---like rotting carcass. Not super strong, but definitely smelly! I really like the color much better than any box I've used and I thought the coverage was better than anything I've used. The particular shade I chose was a little cooler than I wanted, so I'll order one shade warmer next time. Did not leave my hair dry.

I used it for a couple of years. Now I am trying to embrace the grays.
I thought it had very low odor than any other dye I've used. It also did not burn my scalp at all (very sensitive scalp). I really loved it.

i have been using it for a while and happy with it. I love how the kit comes with everything you need. I like the smell, and i also like the shampoo and conditioner. If anyone wants to try it for free, let me know...they send me free kit coupons all the time.
i really need someone to invent a pill to makes the gray go away!

I developed an allergy to the PPD (P phenylenediamine) used in most hair dyes in the US -- other countries seem to have eliminated it long ago. My hairstylist and I found a brand called EcoColors that I have had great success with. She uses the professional line on me, but they do have a home color line as well. It actually has a pleasant smell during the application and I have been really happy with the results -- great overall coverage, long-lasting, and leaves my hair feeling soft. It might be an alternative as well for those of you looking for something safer.

I probably have a free kit or two coupon as well. If anyone hasn't gotten one who wants one, PM me and I'll let you know next time I color (I think they're usually in the boxes, and I've just thrown them away before!).
