Losing the weight is pretty easy on any of them, but maintaining is the hard part. along with that is how many folks say "everyone I know who tried xyz diet put it all back on". No matter what your way of eating is everyone will put their weight back on if they go back to their old eating habits. (I had a crazy day--DH is sick with a UTI and sinus infection. I worry because he's a cancer patient. I haven't read thru all of the posts, but I will--the responses interest me!)
This post stuck out because DH once told me that he did very well on each diet he went on, and then when he got to his goal, he thought he'd celebrate and then the celebrations would continue & he'd gain his weight right back! He didn't learn anything. He still has a very tough time maintaining and he reached his goal twice with me (the Dukan Diet worked best for him--it's like the Keto diet but older and safer, IMO).
This is why my counseling REALLY STUCK with me. It was a lot of work. I had homework and a group class once a month. I learned a lot and I learned a lot about me. I could never go back to my old eating habits, but I DO go back to some of my ethnic food, and I only eat a tiny portion of it + I try to make it healthier. It works for me. Again, I keep checking my bloodwork and I'd tweak my diet if I feel it's necessary.
To everyone else who has gotten to their goal weight: CONGRATULATIONS!!!
I'll get back to this thread as soon as I have a minute, so that I could read through and address more posts.

I had gastric bypass 4 months ago. My goal is to lose 110 lbs and I have lost 66 so far. I did not have time to try to lose my weight as I had too many comorbidities and needed 5 surgeries and procedures last year all made worse by my weight. I truly believed I would be dead if I didn't get the surgery. There is no easy way to do it. Every method of getting weight off is hard and miserable much of the time. But my entire life is different already. And I've learned a whole lot about my body that I probably could have gone to my grave happily without knowing. That's awesome progress! Please keep us posted on how your doing. I had a hard time being skinny at first. Like someone else said, being skinny felt fake to me for a while. I had to keep telling myself that this was the true me and NORMAL. I am 10 years out from surgery and have maintained at my goal weight of 110 lbs. I was at 255 lbs when I had gastric bypass (4' 11" tall). Like you, I had a lot of comorbidities that kind of rushed my decision. It was the right decision for me and I'm thankful every day that I had the surgery. I maintain by sticking strongly to the small portion sizes always. I'm sure you'll also find what works for you once you reach your goal. Congrats!
