Except frying them I've picked a big batch today. It's going to be cold this weekend.

They can be pickled or made into a relish type of thing that can be canned. We called it "chow chow" It is great on hot dogs, beans, roast.

Our tomatoes didn't do much this year so we probably will just leave them. However, I have pulled out the plant and hung it in the basement and the tomatoes that were on it kept ripening.

Letting them get JUST ripe enough for the squirrels to eat. Second year of growing tomatoes at this house. Second year my hopes of ever having homegrown tomatoes again have been taken away by the squirrels, one half eaten, barely ripe tomato at a time.

IF I had green tomatoes I would make a relish AFTER I ate my fill of fried green tomatoes.

We wrap the green tomatoes in newspaper and put them in a box. Come November nice ripe tomatoes!

We wrap the green tomatoes in newspaper and put them in a box. Come November nice ripe tomatoes! My great aunt used to tell us about doing this when she was a little girl. They wrapped green tomatoes in newspaper and put them away, I think under a board in their woodshed. She said on Christmas morning her parents sent the children to go retrieve the tomatoes and they'd unwrap them and have red tomatoes on the table for Christmas dinner.

I picked all mine. I'm going to roast them with onions and garlic, put them through the food processor, and add spices to make "green" salsa. I cook pork or chicken in it in the slow cooker.

We wrap the green tomatoes in newspaper and put them in a box. Come November nice ripe tomatoes! I'd forgotten about that. I've done that before too. I need to figure out what's wrong with our garden and fix it. We haven't had a decent crop of anything in years. Thankfully I bought a patio tomato that did well this year.

Love the idea of wrapping them up! What a nice present that would be. I made green salsa and green catsup with mine. The salsa is really good!

My co-worker brings them in an leaves them in the kitchen, I see people cut off a piece of them throughout the day so everyone is eating it raw.

you can bake them in a tomato pie. Even though most recipes use ripe ones for the red color the green ones taste good too.

Thanks. I love the idea of wrapping them. The only problem is that I might forget and have fruit flies LOL.

We wrap the green tomatoes in newspaper and put them in a box. Come November nice ripe tomatoes! We do this too and it really works. Nothing like taking sliced tomatoes to a Thanksgiving dinner with family!
