When I pay retainer fees, I pay the LAW FIRM, not my buddy the lawyer who works there. Also, where are the invoices showing the actual work and then that work being deducted from the pre-paid monthly retainer? You don't just pay a retainer for nothing - it's a prepayment of fees for actual work.

I do believe he has cognitive issues. That being said, I otherwise don’t think that this would be a big deal and I don’t understand why it’s being reported on unless those cognitive issues are being addressed in each report. I’m sort of famous in my family for mixing things up like this since my teens. I once referred to Joe Cocker and Jennifer Spaniel as the singers of “Up Where We Belong” and didn’t understand why everyone burst out laughing.

This woman gets my respect!! Wow..brilliant! Her questions were great and she would not back down.... Nielsen does not come prepared for the hearings at all! She would not have been able to answer the one question anyway. Shame on her to not know what is really happening on the border!!

linkFrom Newsweek... “MOST REPUBLICANS WOULDN'T SUPPORT DONALD TRUMP'S IMPEACHMENT EVEN IF MUELLER PROVES HE ACCEPTED RUSSIAN ASSISTANCE OR OBSTRUCTED JUSTICE, POLL SHOWS”From the article.. ”A survey from YouGov/The Economist asked respondents if they would "support or oppose Congress beginning the impeachment process if Special Counsel Robert Mueller found" a number of different things, among them that "Donald Trump accepted Russian assistance during the 2016 presidential campaign." That would effectively amount to the collusion allegations that Trump has repeatedly swatted away as untrue. But most Republicans would not want the president to be impeached, even if Trump did accept Russia's help. Sixty-three percent of GOP respondents said they opposed impeachment in that situation, while just 18 percent supported it and 19 percent weren't sure.” And some of these folks went on and on and on about Hillary and her emails.

You don't just pay a retainer for nothing - it's a prepayment of fees for actual work. If he's a solo practitioner (like my ex's firm was), then you pay that attorney individually. However, if the check denotes that it's in reference to a retainer agreement, there should be an actual retainer agreement!!!

HIT list from border Patrol... Free speech? Not so much! It will not improve if there are not major changes in 2020! WASHINGTON — Customs and Border Protection has compiled a list of 59 mostly American reporters, attorneys and activists who are to be stopped for questioning by border agents when crossing the U.S.-Mexican border at San Diego-area checkpoints, and agents have questioned or arrested at least 21 of them, according to documents obtained by NBC station KNSD-TV and interviews with people on the list. Several people on the list confirmed to NBC News that they had been pulled aside at the border after the date the list was compiled and were told they were being questioned as part of a "national security investigation." ** In a statement, the ACLU's Esha Bandhari said the rights group is “exploring all options in response.” “This is an outrageous violation of the First Amendment,” said Bhandari, staff attorney with the ACLU’s Speech, Privacy and Technology Project. “The government cannot use the pretext of the border to target activists critical of its policies, lawyers providing legal representation, or journalists simply doing their jobs.” ** The list includes 10 journalists, seven of them U.S. citizens, a U.S.-based attorney and others labeled as organizers and "instigators," 31 of whom are American. Symbols on the list show that by the time it was compiled 12 of the individuals had already been through additional questioning during border crossings and nine had been arrested. In some cases, CBP had also compiled dossiers on the individuals with the help of intelligence from Mexican officials, according to the materials obtained by KNSD. The cover of the list includes a seal with both the American and Mexican flags and was compiled shortly after the arrival of nearly 5,000 Honduran immigrants at the Tijuana-San Ysidro border, which is in the Border Patrol’s San Diego sector. ** During that screening, journalists and lawyers describe being told that they are being interviewed as part of a national security investigation and that they must give officers access to their cellphones. Many do not know their rights as American citizens to refuse to answer such questions or request a lawyer. One lawyer from the list who was recently stopped at a San Diego-area crossing, Nicole Ramos, refugee director for Al Otro Lado, a law center for migrants in Tijuana, Mexico, learned from NBC News that CBP had compiled a dossier of information on her. The dossier included personal details such as her mother’s name, her social media pictures, the car she drives and her work and travel history. "The document ... appears to prove what we have assumed for some time, which is that we are on a law enforcement list designed to retaliate against human rights defenders who work with asylum-seekers and who are critical of CBP practices that violate the rights of asylum seekers," Ramos said. ** MORE at link: www.nbcnews.com/politics/immigration/u-s-officials-made-list-reporters-lawyers-activists-question-border-n980301

linkFrom the New York Times... “Thousands of New Millionaires Are About to Eat San Francisco Alive”“Uber, Lyft, Airbnb and Pinterest plan to go public. California’s newly minted rich will be hungry for parties, houses, boats, bikes — and ice sculptures.” Some start ups succeed, but many more don’t. When they hang on long enough to go public, a lot of people will make real money. But that is not the only reason for income inequality IMO. And a living wage will not resolve this problem. This from the article... ”One recent night, in a packed room with a view of the Bay Bridge and an open bar, real estate investors gathered. Standing at the front presenting was Deniz Kahramaner, a real estate agent specializing in data analytics at Compass. “Are we going to see a one-bedroom condo that’s worth less than $1 million in five years?” he asked the crowd. “Are we going to see single family homes selling for one to three million?” No, he said, not anymore. The energy rose as he revealed more data about new millionaires and about just how few new units have been built for them. San Francisco single-family home sale prices could climb to an average of $5 million, he said, to gasps. All cash. These are all cash buyers,” he said. “It’s just going to be astounding.” Now, seemingly the whole city — and not just the financial planners and the real estate agents and the protesters who block tech buses — is scrambling to prepare. As the idea of the coming I.P.O.-palooza took on currency, sellers started pulling their houses off the market. The broader California housing market has softened, and home sales are down, but here’s one fix for that. “Even if just half the I.P.O.s happen, there’s going to be ten thousand millionaires overnight,” said Herman Chan, a real estate agent with Sotheby’s. “People are like, ‘I’m not going to sell till next year, because there are going to be bajillionaries everywhere left and right.’” One of those is his client Rick Rider, a 61-year-old C.E.O. who decided not to publicly list his Bay Area house until some of the I.P.O.s have happened. “Our particular house is not a family home. It’s a Double Income No Kids sort of home,” Mr. Rider said. “So it would potentially play well for a lot of the people that would be benefiting from the I.P.O.s.” Let me repeat this... “As the idea of the coming I.P.O.-palooza took on currency, sellers started pulling their houses off the market. The broader California housing market has softened, and home sales are down, but here’s one fix for that.
“Even if just half the I.P.O.s happen, there’s going to be ten thousand millionaires overnight,” said Herman Chan, a real estate agent with Sotheby’s. “People are like, ‘I’m not going to sell till next year, because there are going to be bajillionaries everywhere left and right.’”
This will happen anywhere there is any economic growth. And that is why a living wage won’t help. There will always be folks making more money then those on a minimum living wage, and when it comes time to sell your house you will price it for the buyer who makes the most money. Same thinking will apply when landlords set their rents. Until that issue is resolved, there will never be a real reduction in income inequality. Too many people will be left behind. IMO.

Not unless you want to comingle personal and business assets and have personal assets at risk for business issues. Even most solo practitioners set up a llc to shield their personal assets and have retainers and payments made to the llc and not themselves personally

The ones who are left generally are OK with treason, so long as it supports their team.

It is like someone wrote notes for him like, Tim--Apple. With the "apple" to remind him who he was meeting with. Or they wrote "tim--Apple" in his schedule and he didn't realize that Apple wasn't his last name. And it doesn't seem like he is making that association even as they are talking.

The wall, the wall, the damn wall! But dt LOVES the military!! Military leaders acknowledged Thursday that they did not have a final say in preventing the Trump administration from pulling money for military housing to build a southern border wall, even as the Defense Department reels from widespread reports of mold- and vermin-infested family housing.Sen. Tim Kaine (D-Va.) — during a Senate Armed Services Committee hearing on poor conditions with military housing — questioned the Army, Navy and Air Force secretaries about the Trump administration’s plan to pull $6.1 billion from Pentagon accounts to help fund the president’s promised southern border wall. That amount includes $2.5 billion from counter-drug programs and $3.6 billion in military construction funds, which covers base housing projects. “Can you assure me that none of that money will come from funds that were slated to be used to deal with base housing either here in the United States or overseas?” Kaine asked. All three service secretaries said they would recommend to acting Defense Secretary Patrick Shanahan that the administration not tap military housing funds for the wall, but conceded that it’s not their final decision.** The bipartisan anger was palpable at the hearing, where service secretaries acknowledged widespread problems with military housing conditions. ** thehill.com/policy/defense/homeland-coast-guard/433152-safety-hazards-remain-at-private-military-housing-asLet us see if BIPARTISAN ANGER carries weight! Or will the GOP cave to dt for his damn wall?!?!?!

John Kelly speaks......... He is major anti-immigration at that!! He worked closely with Miller!! Former White House chief of staff John Kelly on Wednesday voiced opposition to President Trump's push to build a border wall, saying that a structure spanning the entire U.S.-Mexico border would be a "waste of money."“We don’t need a wall from sea to shining sea," Kelly said during a public interview at Duke University, according to Politico. The former Trump administration official noted that there are areas along the southern border where steel barriers would be necessary. But Kelly mainly broke with the president's policy proposals on immigration. He also rejected the president's assertion that migrants coming to the southern border are criminals. “They’re overwhelmingly not criminals,” Kelly said. “They’re people coming up here for economic purposes. I don’t blame them for that.”The comments from Kelly marked the first time he's spoken publicly about his time in the White House since leaving the Trump administration in December. ** thehill.com/homenews/administration/433078-john-kelly-trumps-border-wall-would-be-waste-of-money So much for honesty in the WH!

Utah is modernizing itself! Oh MY! The Utah state legislature on Tuesday decriminalized fornication, making it legal to have sex outside of marriage. The Utah House passed legislation on a 41-32 vote, repealing the 1973 misdemeanor crime of fornication, or sex between people who are not married, Fox 13 reported. The bill, previously passed in the state Senate, is now being sent to the desk of Gov. Gary Herbert (R) to be signed or vetoed. ** thehill.com/homenews/state-watch/433146-utah-legalizes-sex-outside-of-marriage** But then this.............. An elementary school teacher in Utah is facing disciplinary action after forcing a student to remove the cross mark on his forehead commemorating Ash Wednesday.William McLeod, a fourth-grader at Valley View Elementary in Bountiful, Utah, said he was confronted by a teacher on Wednesday, Fox 13 News reported. McLeod said he tried to explain to his teacher the significance of the cross made of ashes on his forehead, marking the first day of Lent for his fellow Catholics. ** McLeod’s grandmother, Karen Fisher, told Fox 13 that she spoke with the teacher over the phone. “I asked her if she read the Constitution with the First Amendment, and she said, no,” Fisher said. ** thehill.com/blogs/blog-briefing-room/433150-utah-teacher-facing-discipline-for-making-catholic-student-removePoor kid!
