linkThis from Kyle Griffin.. ”The Pentagon is planning to tap $1 billion in leftover funds from military pay and pension accounts to help Trump pay for his border wall, Sen. Dick Durbin tells the AP.” Prompted this from Brian.. ”For some reason, I feel like this might not be "leftover" and we'll be hearing (again!) about unpaid airmen, marines, soldiers, sailors, and vets in a few months.” From the AP story.. ”WASHINGTON (AP) — The Pentagon is planning to tap $1 billion in leftover funds from military pay and pension accounts to help President Donald Trump pay for his long-sought border wall, a top Senate Democrat said Thursday. Sen. Dick Durbin, D-Ill., told The Associated Press, “It’s coming out of military pay and pensions. $1 billion. That’s the plan.” Durbin said the funds are available because Army recruitment is down and a voluntary early military retirement program is being underutilized. The development comes as Pentagon officials are seeking to minimize the amount of wall money that would come from military construction projects that are so cherished by lawmakers.

I have to say that all the hoopla over Trump messing up Tim Cook's name is really stupid. I do that shit all the time. It's the least of things I'd be concerned about when it comes to Trump.
That said, Tim Cook changing his Instagram handle to "Tim Apple symbol" without any fanfare was pretty funny.

I agree somewhat, I mean I get students names mixed up sometimes, but Trump does stuff like this a lot and since he is the President of the US he should be held to a higher standard. Him “mis-speaking” as often as he does could also be signs of a deeper problem which has been discussed here, don’t you think? I imagine if you were CEO of a company and you were introducing someone or speaking publicly about someone you would be damn sure to get their name correct. This wasn’t a casual conversation between a few people.

Well, that’s sort of how we got him in the first place. “Never Hillary”. It’s obviously a dangerous slope to go down. And if the Democrats pick a person as out of touch with REALITY as Trump? Yea, sorry, I reserve my choice to vote for a sane being. Because if y’all choose my current governor ( NJ Murphy ) who desperately wants to run for President. I doubt I’d vote for him. He’s so freaking stupid he has screwed up the DOT & thier snow removal. He’s had crews out salting for fog, multiple times. He doesn’t care about the ecological damage, he does carecwhere the money will come from. He has no clue how to even run the state. Has no clue who hired who on his cabinet ( or is lying ). Has no issue with firing qualified, dedicated, career employees and replacing them with un qualified people connected to that agencies new appointed boss or a relative. Does any of this sound familiar?? More polite & can string a sentence together better than Trump are not qualifications for being president. Sorry. Do better. So yes, it DOES matter who the democrats choose no point in jumping from frying pan to polite fire. And I know Murphy has not announced a run for 2020. He probably won’t. I think he’s shooting for later, or a VP nod. But we have a whole year and I’m not jumping on board an unknown train right now. As much as I want Trump out of office, I’m not committing to the unknown. That’s as stupid as voting for Trump just because he is the R candidate. Trust me there is no way in hell I could ever vote for Trump. I’m 95% sure my vote will be specifically against Trump. But that doesn’t give the Democrats carte Blanche to put up anyone Democrats should LISTEN to people who don’t want to vote for Trump but can’t commit to someone as far left as say Bernie. Y’all want to win the election? Then LISTEN. Actually HEAR what people want. Your not going to woo Trumps base. They are a list cause, purposefully obtuse about it. You have to entice all the ‘who the heck can I vote for’ people. Sorry, that’s not what y’all want to hear, but the people saying that are not blind sheeple followers voting for any R or any D. They are intelligent people using thier brains to try to make a choice. Find a candidate that appeals to those people and you have the election hands down. I doubt that person is Bernie. Actually the Democrats DON’T need to listen to those who don’t want to vote for trump. As far as LISTENING and actually HEARING what these folks have to say? SCREW THAT!By the time November 2016 arrived, there was only one choice and that was Hillary. Because by that time trump had revealed, big time, in your face, how unfit he was to be president with the lies, and divisive remarks and actions. His ignorance, his vindictive and petty nature. The fact white nationalist were coming out of the sewer to publicly support this man. His lack of decency. It was all there to see that the man was unfit to be president. And. it. was. ignored. So the 62M who voted for trump, those who voted third party, and those who stayed home are anything but intelligent individuals because they chose to ignore what was before them. The Democrats are going to put up a candidate to run against trump. And regardless of who it is, even on their worst day, even with their lefty agenda, they will all have something trump has proven over and over he lacks and that is the strong characteristics needed to be President of the United States. So again the voters will have only two choices, whoever the Democrats put up, and this guy... trump this morning.. ” The Wall is being built and is well under construction. Big impact will be made. Many additional contracts are close to being signed. Far ahead of schedule despite all of the Democrat Obstruction and Fake News!” “I cannot believe the level of dishonesty in the media. It is totally out of control, but we are winning!” ”PRESIDENTIAL HARASSMENT!” ”Both the Judge and the lawyer in the Paul Manafort case stated loudly and for the world to hear that there was NO COLLUSION with Russia. But the Witch Hunt Hoax continues as you now add these statements to House & Senate Intelligence & Senator Burr. So bad for our Country!” So if those “intelligent “ individuals decide to re-elect trump, then maybe, we as a country, deserve this guy. Silly me, I think we deserve better then trump , but maybe I’m wrong. Maybe he is what we deserve. ETA This little rant was set off because I’m tired of trump and his tweets and really want him gone while we still have a country to care about.

linkMiami Herald... “Trump cheered Kraft’s team to Super Bowl victory with founder of spa where he was busted”From the article.. “Seated at a round table littered with party favors and the paper-cutout footballs that have become tradition at his annual Super Bowl Watch Party, President Donald Trump cheered the New England Patriots and his longtime friend, team owner Robert Kraft, to victory over the Los Angeles Rams on Feb. 3. Sometime during the party at Trump’s West Palm Beach country club, the president turned in his chair to look over his right shoulder, smiling for a photo with two women at a table behind him.The woman who snapped the blurry Super Bowl selfie with the president was Li Yang, 45, a self-made entrepreneur from China who started a chain of Asian day spas in South Florida. Over the years, these establishments — many of which operate under the name Tokyo Day Spas — have gained a reputation for offering sexual services.Nineteen days after Trump and Yang posed together while rooting for the Patriots, authorities would charge Kraft with soliciting prostitution at a spa in Jupiter that Yang had founded more than a decade earlier.”And... ”In a brief phone interview, Yang said she and her family have never broken the law, but did not answer questions about whether she knew of the allegations that therapists in her spas were offering sex. She added that she was out of the business, would soon be moving to Washington, D.C., and didn’t want any negative press.” 😀

This from trump...
”Both the Judge and the lawyer in the Paul Manafort case stated loudly and for the world to hear that there was NO COLLUSION with Russia. But the Witch Hunt Hoax continues as you now add these statements to House & Senate Intelligence & Senator Burr. So bad for our Country!”
Prompted this response from CREW (Citizens for ethics)
”What the judge actually said was: “He is not before the court on any allegation that he or anyone under his direction colluded with the Russian government to influence the 2016 election,” not that the Trump campaign didn't collude with Russia.”

Steve Holland...
”Pres Trump talking on the South Lawn says “I feel very badly for Paul Manafort,” per @robertarampton”
This comment shows that trump does not believe in the rule of law. Manafort had his day in court. A jury of peers convicted him of certain crimes and he pleaded guilty to others. Manafort chose the path he followed. So why should anyone feel “very badly” for a convicted criminal that chose to commit the crimes he was convicted of?

If he's a solo practitioner (like my ex's firm was), then you pay that attorney individually. However, if the check denotes that it's in reference to a retainer agreement, there should be an actual retainer agreement!!! Not unless you want to comingle personal and business assets and have personal assets at risk for business issues. Even most solo practitioners set up a llc to shield their personal assets and have retainers and payments made to the llc and not themselves personally That's silly. It should be written as, "John Smith, Esq." and he SHOULD deposit it into his IOLA account. There is no co-mingling, ever.

If a check is written for fees and disbursements then it goes into the attorneys operating account. in our practice we are paid by insurance companies. They are settlements for clients. Checks are made payable to "Personal Injury Firm & Injured Client". We deposit into the IOLA and then cut checks for our fees and disbursements and the clients portion. But if the client is paid separately for any reason (special needs or infant trust), our fees and disbursements cannot flow through the IOLA.

linkThe Third Way is an organization, I think, for us moderate Democrats. A group that has zeroed in on, IMO, the real challenges facing the American Worker. I waited the entire 2016 election cycle for any Democrat to identify and address the issues this group has done. They have identified problems and offered some solutions, that I think, are realistic. From the Third Way.. “Opportunity Economics: The Way to Win in 2020 and Beyond” ”Democrats need a modern economic vision that excites the broadest possible coalition: committed Democrats, swing Independents, and new and sporadic voters. Old approaches won’t inspire new majorities.Democrats should champion an aspirational agenda that focuses on the main economic experience of the American middle class: hard work is no longer enough to earn a good life. Too often, voters perceive Democrats as more concerned with the pay of the 1% than the paychecks of everyone else. To beat Trump and win across the country, that must change. For some, work in the new economy is richly rewarded. But for most—white, black, Hispanic and Asian—it’s a painful struggle. Globalization has outsourced good-paying jobs. Technology has replaced workers. Systemic racism devastates communities of color. Unionization has shrunk. Capital is hard to come by. Skills don’t match available jobs. Wages are stuck. Health care is too expensive. And traditional pensions have vanished. In short, America has an opportunity crisis—except for those in the “right” zip code, with the “right” degree, and who are lucky enough to avoid discrimination. To turn that around, Democrats should focus on using government to expand opportunity, with new ideas to ensure that everyone, everywhere has a shot at earning a good life where they live.“Opportunity Economics for the Digital Age should include:”A Trillion Dollar Opportunity BankBig businesses can get loans, but small businesses are getting choked. A 21st century bank for Main Street, not Wall Street, should provide $1 trillion in new lending so millions of small business owners and would-be entrepreneurs in cities, suburbia, and rural communities have the opportunity to start and expand their businesses and create jobs. Apprenticeship Access for AllMillions of workers without a college degree need a predictable path to earning a middle class life. Every state has a public university system; they should also have an apprenticeship system available to all that’s just as expansive to train and help employ one million workers per year. Universal Private Retirement Accounts
In this post-pension era, Social Security isn’t nearly enough to retire on. Every American worker should have both Social Security and robust private savings through a simple and portable private retirement account that requires employers to chip-in. Zero on Fifteen
Tax rates on labor are far higher than on capital, despite the fact that most Americans earn only a paycheck—not dividends. Workers need a permanent wage break that eliminates all taxes on the first $15,000 of income, so every working- and middle-class American can keep more of what they’ve earned. ACA Plus
Health care stands in the way of earning a good life: costs are too high, 28 million still lack coverage, and the bureaucracy is overwhelming. We must fix and expand Obamacare with automatic enrollment and early-start Medicare to get to universal coverage, a single record to make health care simple, and price protection to stop companies from over-charging patients.

Messing up someone's name, even on a regular basis, is not a sign of the onset of dementia. That's a very normal thing to happen, but most of us aren't caught on TV cameras when it happens. Now, forgetting who Tim Cook is, or why he's even there... that would be of concern. Messing up a name? Not on the radar. I think we have to be careful of what we're blowing up in the headlines -- there are so many lies, so much corruption, and so many things worthy of a headline from this administration and particularly of Trump, that our position is weakened when we make a huge deal out of a messed up name.

To all those debating dt's using the wrong names. Another thing involved is that people who do that, do not care about you or your name. You are nothing to them.
Although I do think dt does have cognitive issues. Another thing he does is constantly repeating things, like he is trying to sear them into his mind... but also to remember what he will say next.
