My mom was diagnosed yesterday with salvatory gland cancer. The dr. doesn't think the cancer started there and she is having a PET scan next week. She is 82 and we haven't had any types of cancer in our family, except her sister who had lung cancer (smoker).
The dr. had to aspirate twice to get cells and I'm hoping the pathologist was wrong. I was misdiagnosed with lymphoma 5 years ago because of a pathologist error. A girl can hope - right? Your case is a prime example of why you should always get a second opinion on the pathology. I know of many cases where people were either misdiagnosed or the severity (which directly affects treatment) was wrong. Prayers for your mom.

Hang on to hope. Doctors have been wrong and many, many times cancer is treatable. There is reason for hope.

Girl - Don't stop believing that she is FINE and CANCER FREE!
My dad was misdiagnosed a few years ago...he went into a tailspin. I refused to believe it. Turns out, they were wrong.
Hugs to you and your mom...I'll be praying for you both!
