What helped you get through it? This is a S/O of my other thread about issues I am having. I realize 99% of those issues are due to perimenopause. Did you take any supplements that helped you? How long did it last? Did you eventually get back to your old self?

Shoot. I didn't know we were supposed to try to correct this.

I haven't been too bad about crying but I swear since I turned 47 last year my memory is having a heck of a time. I feel like I'm constantly stumbling over words or taking forever to even find the right word. Even the most simple of words! It's like I turned stupid all of a sudden. I really hope it's not going to continue to get worse while getting through this part of my life. I just feel so dumb these days.

I missed the other thread, but bio-identical hormones have been a game changer for me. I was exhausted and grumpy all the time. Now, I have a ton more energy, and I am not grumpy ALL the time. DD can tell when the pellet is wearing off because I get more snappy.

CBD oil has done wonders for my monthly anxiety/depression. A total game changer for me.

HRT was my godsend. To this day I say it saved my marriage. DH was at his wit’s end.

I went through this years ago. I would burst into tears for no reason. I found a naturopath who did an extensive month long hormone level test on me, and was able to use the results to create a tincture to balance what needed balancing. Major difference! Hormone levels are constantly changing, so a little adjusting is needed once in a while.

Weigh is coming down. Moods stabilized. Sex drive is awesome. I sleep well most of the time whereas before I didn't. I hope I never have to go off of them.

I took several types of supplements that didn't do a whole lot.
The thing that helped me hugely and still does is daily exercise and eating a good diet. I do something active each day - doesn't have to be anything too high intensity but about 30 minutes of walking, Pilates, HIIT (which I modify a lot) that gets my heart rate up. This helps with my mood so much and I feel so much better about myself. I don't have any special eating program but I try to have as least processed food as possible.
I didn't realise how much it was helping with both my mood and things like hot flushes/night sweats until I had an injury last year and was unwell and the exercise and eating slackened off. I was shocked at how much it all came back. When I got back to doing what I was doing before, the symptoms dropped off again.

Thank you so much for the replies. I am going to talk to my doctor about bio identical hormones. I have a history of depression and take an antidepressant. Will I still be able to take that?

I turned 47 last year and to my horror, I lost all my words. Having a conversation with me is like a game show, where I give clues to a totally mundane words that escapes me and those conversing with me have to guess what the word is because for the life of me I can not remember the word for that rectangle thing you walk through!

I haven't been super emotional but my irritation level is at an all time high. Everything is pissing me off lately!
I go see my doctor in another month or so to keep an eye on my blood pressure so I plan to ask her about the moods.....

I was in my mid-40’s. I had no idea there was such a thing as perimenopause. I’ve always been a relatively easy-going person...most of my life, people have told me I’m “too nice.” Suddenly I became a raging crazy bitch. I over reacted at every little thing and really was not nice to so many people. It was so out of character for me. One of my kids teachers took me aside one day and nicely suggested I read up on perimenopause. It was like a light bulb went on.
I didn’t take anything for it, but reading about it helped me identify that my behavior had gone sideways and helped me re focus myself into my more usual self. Not that it was smooth sailing, but I tried harder to rein it in a little. I actually dropped out of lots of the extra stuff I did that was stressful to me—like leading a Girl Scout Troop. Cutting back on the stress was very helpful to calming me down.

DD can tell when the pellet is wearing off because I get more snappy. This! I started with one testosterone pellet before my hysterectomy because of low energy. After hysterectomy I added the estrogen. Lifesaver!

Yes you can take them together. Although, once my hormones were level and correct I found I no longer need my anti depressant.

I take Lexapro (SSRI) but before I started on that I asked if there were any conflicts with BHRT with any of the antidepressants they might put me on and was told there were no issues there. I've been using bioidentical hormones for a little over a year and it's been like a miracle for me. I know a lot of people just deal with the symptoms, but if you feel like they are causing your quality of life to suffer, it's worth a try.
