Hi! So I’ve been making cards and painting for a little over a year, and would like to find some people with whom to make cards! Is there anyone in the northern Virginia area who’d like to meet up?

I wish I'd known about you a few years ago. I lived in Northern Virginia, and I had a papercrafting group that I started. We started small, and met first at the LSS, until it closed, then at the library. I had recruited mostly gals from my church, one from the LSS (where we used to meet), and one was a friend of a friend. Unfortunately, the group stopped meeting when I moved to Texas a couple of years ago. If you can't find a group already established, then perhaps you can ask among the people you know. Sometimes it is surprising to me who is interested in card making or other paper crafts. I just recently organized a card making group here in my new area. I started by asking gals at church, but I don't live near any LSS. If you have not visited the GoldensHill Paper Arts store (in Clifton), I recommend you pay them a visit. I assume they are still in business. The owner has a nice selection, treats new customers very nice (she gives you a reusable shopping bag and a discount or something), and you may meet some fellow card makers there. I keep hoping to get back to Northern Virginia for a trip, and if I ever manage it, I will definitely be paying her store a visit again. She does have kind of odd hours, though, so look her up and check before you go. Edited to add: I decided to look the store up, just to make sure they are still in business. Here is a link to their website, and they have a card class on February 26th, just in case you are interested. GoldensHill Paper Arts store in Clifton

Hi Lehcarlies. I’m in NoVa too, am a card/box/whatever maker, and came out of lurk mode after reading your post. Couldn’t agree more with Scrapnana - Goldenhills is terrific. (It’s named for the many rescue goldens Ronnie and her husband adopted over the years and the hill they live on.)
40% discount on the most expensive item, 10% off the entire order (with a few exceptions like Copics, though they’re still discounted) if you use their tote or bag of your own, and after a card Ronnie gives you is punched 24 times (once for each $5.00 spent), you get a $20 store credit. It’s in old town Clifton. , so kind of neat. She’s open T-W-H and the first and third Saturday. A labor of love, packed with paper crafting and art supplies.
I’d like to get together occasionally to card (verb) or make a box or meet up, if you could stand a 60s (but proudly immature) card maker.

And it’s Goldenshill not Goldenhills. Many goldens, one hill. I remind others so they can find the website, then my fingers betray me. When I visit it’s disappointing if golden Becka isn’t at the shop that day.
