If you had a day to plan for yourself, what would you do? Say it’s your birthday... a weekday.
My birthday is coming up soon and I need to make some plans for myself! No car, weather may likely be miserable... Current considerations include: Nail/spa day at home Day drinking Sort and roll around in fabric collection Spend the day cooking something fabulous for dinnner Line up random date so someone will buy me drinks. Lol I’ve considered having flowers delivered to myself but I’d probably prefer a potted orchid.
So, what would you do for a relaxing and somewhat indulgent day at home?

Sort and roll around in fabric collection Definitely this! If I was home with the husband my indulgence would be staying in bed all day for 'snuggles'

I'd get up early so I wouldn't waste a bit of the day. I'd play in my craft room for a few hours. Then take a nice bubble bath with a drink and good book for a bit. Then do a home mani/pedi. Then meet up with a friend for a lovely dinner out or just make myself a delish dinner depending upon $$ and friend availability.
Happy early birthday!

Sit in my easy chair and pea all day while my minions bring me bon bons and cake. Oh, wait... are we supposed to be realistic? (My minions are not usually that cooperative.)

Day drinking, yes! Roll around in fabric, yes! Then order food delivery and watch some movie I’ve been secretly dying to see but others would judge me for. Happy early birthday!

Drive out to Pt Reyes and do a long hike then have an early dinner on tomales bay.
Or pack a lunch in a backpack and do a long hike.
Meet up with friends for good Thai or Burmese or sushi and chilled white wine or good beer.

It's easy to make me feel special. Just let me work on a jigsaw puzzle and watch a good movie without interruption. I would have a mani/pedi the day before in order to feel pampered and then I'd spend my birthday enjoying my favorite hobbies. Make it special for yourself and then stick to the plan.
If you want the potted orchid then buy one for yourself and enjoy it.

i would probably do some cooking, baking or gardening or a bit of it all. i would garden first, then take a nice pampering shower, put on some comfy clothes and just enjoy the rest of the day cooking or baking.

I just had this day last weekend when DH was off camping.
I slept in, played with fabric and paper in my studio, watched 2 movies that DH would never watch, had Doordash deliver dinner, and ate a little mug brownie, with a little wine to offset the carbs. It was a great day!
And go buy yourself the orchid! I buy flowers all the time for myself. I say flowers feed the soul.

Current considerations include: Nail/spa day at home No - only truly a treat at a nail salon or preferably a spaDay drinking only if friends involved Sort and roll around in fabric collection maybeSpend the day cooking something fabulous for dinner first choice for meLine up random date so someone will buy me drinks. Lol changing parameters by leaving house/doesn't belong on this list I’ve considered having flowers delivered to myself but I’d probably prefer a potted orchid. get the orchidSo, what would you do for a relaxing and somewhat indulgent day at home? ------------- I would plan ahead to have favorite food/treats in the house and indulge in a day of doing what I feel like at the moment: reading, napping, favorite movies/shows, indulgent tub time, craft time, etc. My birthday this year was perfect for me, although it happened a week or so after my actual birthday. Packed my bag the night before and sent it with DH early in the morning. Took the train midmorning and spend the day doing favorite things in downtown LA (couple hours at The Broad, snack at Grand Central Market, poked through The Last Bookstore, etc.) before joining DH at hotel, then out for dinner and Elton John concert.

The day before I would pick up cake from one of our high-end grocery stores, wine and flowers for myself. Day of, I'd probably craft while watching netflix in my PJ's with lots of coffee and a big breakfast at some point (eaten in my craft room, since that's where netflix is!). Probably about 2 I would be sick of sitting and would go take a bubble bath with a book and open the wine. When I got out, I'd get one of my fave meals cooked (probably pasta or seafood for me) which I'd eat while watching netflix or a movie. Ideally with a fire in the fireplace, but I don't know how to start one myself, so DH would need to be around. After that, back to my craft room for more crafting, netflix and wine!
Ugh, that sounds like heaven!! I used to celebrate national scrapbook day at home by myself and my DH and kids were sweet enough to bring me meals and let me be. They seemed to be fascinated that I would get excited about this day of crafting I would celebrate alone. I've been busy the last couple years, but I really need to keep that day free.
Enjoy your birthday!

Ok, ladies, please confess what these movies are you’d watch on a day of indulgence.

Not cooking is a treat for me, just because I cook from scratch most nights so I would buy in an indulgent breakfast, lunch and dinner. Also some chocolates. I would make a list of things I 'might' do and then decide as the mood took me on the day whether that was snoozing, going shopping (and having an 'allowance' for a birthday gift for myself) knitting/crafting, reading a book, a movie, getting someone in to do a pedi/massage for me at home, meeting a friend for coffee/lunch/cocktail, sightsee something local that I've never got around to visiting.....
Let us know what you decide!

I am currently with someone who is sober although he does not mind if I drink. However, I tend not to around him. Therefore, a day of barhopping in my new city sounds kind of fun. I also like the idea of a random date.
Other than that, sleep in, maybe take a pampering shower or a bath, perhaps a manicure, lunch out somewhere you’ve always wanted to go including dessert, maybe a walk around town. Stuff like that. Maybe binge watch one of your favorite shows or catch a movie you would like to see. I’m the type that can easily do stuff by myself too.

Ok, ladies, please confess what these movies are you’d watch on a day of indulgence. Do you have Netflix? I'm watching The Bodyguard right now and like that. I plan to re-watch either Gossip Girl or Mad Men next (I like a long-term show commitment so I don't have to look for something new very often) Otherwise, DH and I are watching Home Again with Reese Withersppon on DVD right now and he even liked it!

If you go out for a walk or hike, try adding Geocaching to the activity. Great way to get off the beaten path and discover things you may have driven past hundreds of times.

If I had the cash to spend, the day to indulge, and had to stay home.... I would order chocolates!! fancy, fancy chocolates!!! I would order fresh flowers from a place like this farmgirlflowers.com/ and have fun arranging them. Order dinner with dessert. Watch a movie. Shop online. Sleep.

mandarin free bday buffet (7 days before or after your bday but have to get a coupon online and show id). however, for me, personally, day drinking and lounging in bed ALL.FREAKING.DAY. of course, i would need a nap at 3pm but since i am already in bed... all good.

My day would be... Sleep in. Shopping. Treat myself to scrapbook goodies or home decor. A visit to See's Candies, for a small custom chosen box of my favorite chocolates.
Lunch or dinner out, if invited by someone. If not, I'd pick up my favorite take out.

My birthday was fairly recently. I took the day off of work and slept in. Then I had a crazy idea to try to clean out my craft room and closet Marie Kondo style. I got a lot done but it was not relaxing in any way, shape, or form. My arms and legs were sore afterward and I had too many donation boxes in my bathroom so I couldn’t get to the tub to take a bath. I did end up with two trash bags of recycling, two trash bags of trash, and about three bags/boxes of donation stuff, so it was probably a win in the long run—but I still don’t know what I was thinking. I could’ve taken a nice hot bath and spent the day sewing or reading...or something!
