Even if you don't need to just because someone is talking on their cell phone in the ladies room?
I don't know why this is a pet peeve of mine but it makes me crazy. It happens all the time at my office. Really? You can't go to the break room or stairwell or one of the 10 conference spaces?

Well not really, but I will make it a point to flush while they are talking... if timing is right.

Heh. Yes, it's so annoying and gross to be on the phone in a public bathroom. They're lucky I don't try this kind of flush:

Not a double flush, but I might be extra loud and run the hand dryer a little longer than normal. It really does bug me - there are plenty of other places to talk.

Yes! keithurbanlovinpea you are my people. Just last week I had a mental freak out when in the restroom hearing someone two stalls down on the phone. I finished my business and proceeded to flush about 5 times. Felt a bit bad b/c of the drought here in CA but holy heck the release of some pressure b/c of the annoyance of someone being on their phone in there felt good Seriously? Why is it necessary to talk on the phone in there?

Ok, I'll ask...
Why does it bother you so much of someone else is on the phone in the bathroom?

Nope. I live in CA and we are in the middle of a huge drought. That would be a huge waste of water for something so minor.

I don't know about the OP... but that time is mine (and whoever else needs a minute to do their business).. I don't want to be sitting there doing my business and listening to someone gab.. I need quiet time in the potty... I think the next time someone wants to yap.. I will make as many noises as I can...

No, I haven't. But I'll admit to "performance anxiety" when someone in the public restroom is talking on the phone. Phone use in a restroom has been a pet peeve of mine for seemingly forever.

I would much rather hear someone talking on the phone in the bathroom than at the next table or while I'm trying to shop. It seems like a bathroom is semi private and therefore the cell talker would bother the least number of people. It's never occurred to me that anyone would need quiet to do restroom business.

To me that is to personal.. I don't need to hear someone else's drama or non drama... I want to poop LOL... or whatever. This might be gross, if it is that time of the month, I certainly don't need someone yapping next to me while I am changing stuff either... It's a place to pee/poop. NOW however, I will go into an empty bathroom if I need to talk, but if someone comes in I immediately walk out. Same goes with elevators... I don't need to hear how important you are (not YOU YOU).. lol

None of that bothers me at all.
To each their own.
But I really don't think you have a right to expect quiet in a public bathroom.

It has never once occurred to me that a PUBLIC bathroom should be considered a phone free zone or a "quiet place" for others. Sometimes the views of other people do make me laugh out loud! And this is one of those times.

It's not just you. If someone is cussin up a storm or being ignorant or "omg.girl..you know he was totes cray cray" crap, I've been known into a coughing, hacking spell until I hear the call end. Most days I jut try to ignore it.

A coworker will take a call at her desk and walk into the bathroom to hide in the handicap stall to talk on her phone. It's so strange and we all know she does it...go outside!

That's never crossed my mind. I end up trying to pee more quietly and prolonging my visit to listen in on their conversation though! I find it fascinating how much people will share when they're out in public.

huh. I would kinda welcome some entertainment while in the bathroom, it's something to hear besides bodily noises. I'd probably extend my business just so I could see what was going on.

No. We are in a drought. We hardly flush once these days.
And drought or no--water is a finite resource. Even if there were no drought, it would be wasteful to flush twice.

Some of you really need more problems in life if someone talking on the phone in a public restroom causes you such grief. It doesn't even register on my "things that irritate me" scale.

I think it's gross and would never talk on the phone while using the bathroom. But, having heard several phone conversations while using public restrooms I have to say they are usually pretty entertaining. I like hearing the gossip.

No, but I do remind myself never to borrow anyone's cell phone if I don't have to.

I have flushed more than once but not because someone was on the phone. I hate to poop in public but if I have to, I flush the toilet just as the poop is plopping in the toilet so no one will here the plop and know what I am doing! Now my secret is out! Yikes!!

No, I never even thought of it Me neither. But cell talkers are annoying and I WILL start the double flush!! I am over everyone on their cell! And I agree, that the bathroom should be a quiet place. I don't need to hear a one sided conversation, about god knows what, while I'm pooping.

See, I don't really care what the person in the other stall is doing or saying. Its the person they are talking to that I feel bad for! who wants to be subject to bathroom noises while not IN a bathroom and on the phone. I think it is rude to the person you are talking to, to use a bathroom while on the phone.
