Work conference Mon/Tues. Had to drive to it on Sunday in some of the worst wind I have been in. Semi's were being pushed across the road. Not a good plan. Thursday started having some flu like symptoms and as mentioned on another thread was not happy about it. Well it got worse overnight and ended up in UC. Diagnosis Pneumonia. Great. 5 medications, 2 breathing treatments and a shot of steroids later, I come home. I have no voice, Im coughing so hard my entire core hurts. plus the albuterol and the steroids have made me all jittery. Im cancelling all plans and staying in bed all weekend as I have big exciting plans next weekend that I don't want to miss out on. Garth Brooks, Shine Down, a trip to see my sister and watching Princess Bride on the big screen with my good friend. Important things.
Enter my mom's week. So while Im running around getting pneumonia, my mom was rushed to the ER via ambulance. She was diagnosed with gallbladder stones, released and referred to a surgeon. She was readmitted less than 24 hours later again in severe pain. Well it looks like her bile ducts are blocked by one or more stones and she was supposed to have a specific procedure done today. It hasn't been done. Her labs came back with some critical levels and the surgeon was not called. He found them when he came to see her. They indicate a massive infection and liver involvement. She is having surgery in 30 min. I wondered about it earlier when she told me her pulse and blood pressure but Im so hopped up on meds that my brain isn't working as fast and I didn't want to scare her by mentioning the possibility of sepsis. the surgeon was pissed that he hadn't been told about these labs. The results were from this morning. So she is headed into surgery for gallbladder removal and the bile ducts, however if they get in there and the liver is involved she will need a second surgery. My mom is NEVER sick. Not to this extent.
I want a refund on this week. I do not want to repeat it. Just refund it and lets move on.

Oh man. I'm so sorry you've been so sick and that your mom is so sick, too. I hope her surgery goes very well and that her liver is not infected. Hope you can get some solid rest this weekend.

OMG. Yes. I will totally give you a refund.
Holy moly, girl. That's a big plate of [poo] you've had. I hope you are home and able to sleep a bit tonight. Not sure how close your mom is to you or whether you have siblings or not, but please let them take over and you just rest. Pneumonia is serious!
Hope you are better in time for Garth!

I'm glad she's out of surgery and that you are taking the sensible option of taking good care of yourself too. Hope this coming week is a lot better for you both.

After reading all of that, I can certainly understand your feelings. Hopefully, you and your mom are both getting the care you need to be on the mend very soon.

Oh my gosh. I am sorry you have dealt with this all week. I hope you and your mom improve quickly!
My DH has bile duct stents. Hers is probably temporary and may even work it's way out on its own. If not, it's a simple outpatient procedure to remove it. DH's are now permanent. They get blocked every couple of years. My point is - when they get blocked, you go from zero to septic really fast. Even with DH's fragile health, he has rebounded quickly after they clean out the stent. I hope she does, too!
Hugs!

I'm sorry. I had a crazy week, but it was nothing on your level. Refunds for all, and best wishes to your mom and to you.
(If you drink wine, I think you should treat yourself to some. Or a lot.)

Small mom update. She is having severe post op pain to the point they have called the surgeon back. He’s in surgery at another hospital. I get my information third hand for reasons I don’t want to get into right now but will later if necessary. It’s hard being a sick nurse with a sick mom and info is 4th hand from non medical people. I really don’t like this hospital either. I give nursing staff a huge circle of trust but the staff has dropped several big balls on this one.

Turns out mom is the culprit for the pain issue. She was refusing the pain meds. I get it. We have issues with pain meds. We are very cautious but for crying out loud lady you just had surgery. Her surgeon had a chat with her and I had one too. She took the meds and was able to control the pain. She’s been up several times and it exhausts her but the pain is managed. Hopping tomdoscharge tomorrow which sounds like the liver involvement is minimal at this time. They said if it was involved the second surgery would happen almost immediately after the other and so far she said 0nky had one, whew.
