We're considering a trip to Cabo this summer for all 5 of us (2 adults, 1 16yo and 2 14yos). We're looking at the all inclusive resorts.
Where did you stay? Would you recommend it? Any must-do's while we're there??

I have, but I was at an adult-only resort, so I'm not very much help, sorry!

Have you considered a cruise? It's very relaxing and great fun. Your kids will really enjoy it. There are programs for kids and teens.

We've been going since 2006. From 2006-2010 we went every Christmas, now we go every other year. We love the Pueblo Bonito resorts. They have an all-inclusive package - there are deals to be had with it! You can get great deals renting units on RedWeek, most lodging in Cabo is timeshares. So rent on Redweek and then sign up for the resort emails and negotiate with one of the sales people - I can give you email addresses! Pueblo Bonito is nice because they have two resorts on the Sea of Cortez in the regular Cabo area and then 10 or so minutes away up on the Pacific coast side they have a huge resort area. There is a 16 and over resort, Pacifica. There is Sunset Beach which is all suites. Then there are the Monte Cristo units - 3-4 bedroom houses and the Novasapania and Govenor houses - they are 4 bedrooms. We go as a huge group -- 18 of us, 8 adults, 10 kids (ages 1-14). There is always tons to do. This past year everyone except me and the 2 littles (9mos & 2 year old) went whale watching, horseback riding, ziplining, ATV-ing, and surfing.
It is very safe. Because of people in our group we have only done all inclusive once, I thought it was great. But there are tons of great restaurants in town that are very affordable. The water is desalinated everywhere in Cabo, so no worries on drinking the water!

I've been to Cabo three times. I've stayed at the Sheraton Grand Los Cabos Hacienda del Mar everytime because it's my very favorite resort. The last time (in 2014) my dd and I did spend three nights at the Tesoro Los Cabos resort (was a Wyndham resort at that time. We did a cheap groupon deal. The resort was ok, but location was ideal.) in addition to staying at the Sheraton. We did that so we could be right on the marina in downtown Cabo and go out every night and shop during the day. My experiences are different because, twice, I was there for conventions and didn't pay a dime toward the trips except for souvenirs and tips (amazing, grateful experiences!) We were treated almost like royalty! Also, I wasn't traveling with young children. I can tell you that I felt completely safe on every visit. We were out at clubs until early morning, walked around, grabbed taxis and met friendly locals. You will be approached to buy items or book excursions, but just a firm no thank you works. I avoided all time share presentations, too. We rode horses, my ex went parasailing, some friends were into golf, others went deep sea fishing (and were very sick!). Twice we went on the Caborey for a sunset dinner cruise to view the Arch (and whale watch in season.) Fun for adults are clubs such as Cabo Wabo,Giggling Marlin, El Squid Roe... During the conventions, we were able to go north to San Jose del Cabo and to the west - Todos Santos. San Jose is more laid back, historical and full of art and shops compared to Los Cabos. Todos Santos has a great artsy vibe - loved visiting the Hotel California there. I really enjoy just laying out by/in the pools or along the beach (you can't swim in the Sea of Cortez, as the rip tides are dangerous). We were always treated so well by all the staff wherever we went. *The one tip I tell anyone going to Cabo, is to avoid the people inside the airport trying to give you a ride to your resort. Your driver will be outside the airport. Things may have changed since 2014, but that was a confusing set up! I love Cabo and hope to go back!

You probably know this already, but Cabo in the summer is hotter than blazes! Yeah, I saw it's in the mid 90s. Unfortunately, my kids are in sports that start up at the end of July and go basically year round. We only get the month of July off. 🙄

We went to Cabo on a cruise a couple of years ago. I don’t know if it was just because we were in the port, but there really wasn’t much to see or do. That may not be the case everywhere. There were people trying to sell us something every three steps. We were there at the very end of July and it was blistering hot. There was a nice beach, but it was way to hot to sit out there. We had 5 kids ranging from 18 to 7 and ended up spending quite a while sitting in Margaritaville to stay cool. The guacamole and chips were excellent. It is very likely an all inclusive would be nothing like this.

We were there twice in February, and I thought it was perfect weather. Plus it's whale season, which was amazing to see. You live in the perfect area to go to Cabo for a short stay. So nice and close!

We just want to kick back, relax, swim, etc. We are looking at maybe doing one excursion - 4 wheeling, catamaran, etc. We're just in the early planning stages.
