And then there are the ones that you are happy to see go in that mix too! Our lovely granddaughter went with a boy for about 2 years or so--and everybody but her could see that he wasn't the "one". She finally gave him the boot, and is currently going with a wonderful young man--2 years so far--and as soon as he is finished with his education, I'm sure we'll be adding him to the family. It sure wasn't hard to say goodbye to the first one!! Back when my son was young, and going with a young lady--they broke up. About a year after they broke, she contacted me and asked if she could stop by and visit. By then, he was going with the one he ended up marrying, so I didn't reply to her note. I didn't think it would be good to open that door! Good luck to you!! I know it takes a chunk out of your heart when you really love the person! Right?!?! My other dd has poor luck and honestly I have to hold back from jumping up and down sometimes when she finally ditches the bad ones.

That's so hard! I understand why you feel sad, I would too! I hope it gets easier for you. That's so sweet that you and your husband really like him.
My oldest is 21 and has been dating her boyfriend over 2 yrs. We really like him, and after they graduate from college in a few months, they will live 5 hrs. away from each other. It will be hard because his parents don't really know about her. They wouldn't approve because she isn't Indian. But if they gave her a chance, I think they would really like her. My 19 yr. old has been dating her boyfriend for 3 yrs. and we really like him too! We feel like they are our sons, and would be so sad if they broke up.

We totally loved dsd's first serious boyfriend and had wonderful times with him. We were very sad when they broke up and it almost felt like we'd lost a family member. They have since become friends again and we've seen him a couple of times, but it's just not the same. That being said, since then she's now married and we do have a very sweet SIL that we love, too.

What you are feeling is so normal. I cried when my DS and his girlfriend broke up after a year and a half.
