Jan-Michael Vincent -- the '80s heartthrob best known for his role on TV's "Airwolf" -- has died ... TMZ has learned. Jan-Michael actually died back on February 10 after suffering cardiac arrest while a patient at a North Carolina hospital ... according to the death certificate. We're told no autopsy was performed and he was later cremated.
Jan-Michael was most recently in the 2002 movie, "White Boy" ... but he had a long, successful career in TV and film.
His CBS hit, "Airwolf," made him into a huge star. At the time, he was reportedly the highest-paid actor at $200k per episode. Jan-Michael played helicopter pilot Stringfellow Hawke on the show, but the series lasted only a couple seasons largely in part to the star's cocaine abuse. His acting career would ultimately suffer from it.
Jan-Michael nearly died in 2012 from an infection that required his right leg to be amputated.
Jan-Michael also starred opposite Burt Reynolds in the 1978 film, "Hooper" -- and co-starred with Kim Basinger in the 1981 film, "Hard Country." He was a steady working actor in Hollywood for 3 decades, and appeared in tons of the old classics like, "Lassie," "Bonanza," and "Gunsmoke."
Jan-Michael was 74. RIP.

I too remember thinking he was a very handsome guy back in the 70’s. IIRC, it was mostly his chiseled cheekbones. Reading the link, it doesn’t sound like he had a very happy life :/

I always associate him with Saturday morning Danger Island. I don't know that I would describe him as having a long and successful career, though. Substance abuse really derailed his life.

Any girl who read Tiger Beat in the 70s knew him. That's very sad and I'm sorry he had such a rough life.

I absolutely loved him in Big Wednesday - such a great movie back in the day. I can't believe that he was 73 - that's only a couple of years younger than my dad. And to think I had a crush on him.

Worlds greatest athlete 1973 !!! Head coach Sam Archer (John Amos) and his right-hand man, Milo Jackson (Tim Conway), have been leading Merrivale College's track team to a succession of last-place finishes. A chance visit to Africa brings Sam and Milo the athlete of their dreams: an orphan wild-child named Nanu (Jan-Michael Vincent). The hapless coaches convince Nanu to leave his carefree life in the jungle for the cutthroat world of college athletics where, naturally, not all goes according to plan. Initial release: October 4, 1973 (West Germany)
I loved this movie!!!
