Is there such a thing? Maybe it's my size. I'm at a size 16 (chubby) and every dress pant I have seems to have a wider leg, or bootcut leg. I would like more of a tapered, or straight leg? Like to wear them out for special occasions. something cute, comfortable and not wide! ha.

Check Talbots. They have a few straight leg styles.

Most of JCrew's pants have a slim cut leg.

Lane Bryant has had it in the past (past year) in a straight leg.

I’m with you-I think bootcut/wide leg make you look wider. I always prefer tapered/slim

I really like the Sloan pant from Banana Republic and the Pixie pant from Old Navy (not sure those are considered dress pants though...) my absolute favorite pant though is the Slim Crepe Ankle Pant from Eileen Fisher. Yes they are expensive but they are like a magic pant -- goes with everything, flattering and unbelievably comfortable. And washable! People call them the unicorn pant .

I get my dress pants from Talbot’s. They wash well, don’t hold dog hair, and have pockets. I’ll try to look tomorrow (when I’m on the computer) and see which ones they are.

I recently switched from the BR Sloan pant after years of loyalty because they've changed the fit and they are shorter than in years past.
I started wearing the BR Ryan slim fit instead. They are so comfortable, have generous pockets, and they are washable!

I just bought a pair on clearance at Walmart. They're Lee brand, black, straight leg and have pockets. I wear an 18 and they were only $11. Both of our stores had lots of them.

Old Navy Pixie pants are nice. Agreed - they are my go to dress pants when I'm forced to wear them.

I buy all my pants from QVC. They have a great variety. I just got these. Put A228084 into their search. They come in all different colors. I got the Petite length but they also make a regular length.

I’m with you-I think bootcut/wide leg make you look wider. I always prefer tapered/slim I'm the opposite. I have an hour glass figure (big boobs, wide hips, small waist) and I think boot cut pants are much more flattering on my figure. The reason is the slightly wider leg balances my hips and boobs. When I've tried on and worn slim legged pants it makes my hips look bigger than they really are because of the visual effect. Plus I have swollen ankles from hypothyroid so when the high ankle cut, slim pants were all the rage (a year ago) I couldn't find pants to buy anywhere that I liked. Normally I really like to shop at Talbot's but even all Talbot's had was those pants. Personally I'm glad to see the boot cut pants finally becoming available again but that doesn't help you OP, does it? If you have a Talbot's near you I suggest going there and trying on their dress pants. They have sales every week and I've found their clothes to be very flattering and of great quality. They also have all sizes-petite to size 22WP which I really like. Just took a look at their website and they have all varieties of dress pants-skinny, slim, straight, boot-cut and casual. Right now tops and pants are 30% off. The last pair I bought was a pair called Refined Bi-Stretch Barely Boot pants and I love them. I wash them in the gentle cycle (cold) with Woolite and hang them to dry. They come out perfectly without wrinkles and they look fantastic on.

Try the Talbot's Hampshire pants. It looks like some styles have pockets, others don't. So be sure to check before you buy!

Yea, remember I’m the one that lives in the boonies. I’m not a fan of Lee, old navy, and Walmart clothes. They just don’t fit me right. I’m fairly tall, chunky, and in my 50s. Things fit differently now

Order online several sizes and several cuts. Send back what you don’t want. Most places provide return labels for $7-9. That’s lunchif you drive to the city and this way you can shop in the comfort of your own home.
I’ll add Christopher and Banks into the pile. I have a pair of their bengaline pants in navy that are 2 years old and they aren’t the least bit faded and dog hair brushes right off (a must for me with a lab!). They probably get washed once a week. All full priced items are 40% off now. The fabric has a nice bit of give to it that makes them super comfortable.
