Does anyone feel like helping a girl out?
Here is what I have so far--
Day 1- arrive at 1045a. Catamaran tour from 2-4, early dinner, check into the hotel after 3pm sometime and then bed. (arrive at 130, 15 minutes from the hotel)
Day 2- North Shore area. Shark dive arrive at 630a, dive from 7-9 coffee and snack break Stand Up Paddleboarding tour with turtles 10a-1p Afternoon at Waimea Valley? (any other suggestions in the area? We might just ditch this and find a beach to sit near until we feel like going back to the hotel.
Day 3- Polynesian Cultural Center & Luau 10-10 (or something else in the morning...Pearl Harbor maybe? and then PCC in the afternoon/luau in the evening? )
Day 4- Hike Diamond Head Taste of Kualo tour OR a few hours at Secret Beach at KBay Makapu'u Lighthouse Hike Snorkeling at haunama bay
Day 5 Something in the morning and then a 1pm flight
Suggestions? Anything we're absolutely missing? Anything you'd cut? This is stressing me out SO much. Argh!

I would put Pearl Harbor on the definitely list. It’s be my number one spot actually. If you like architecture and history tours Iolani Palace is pretty cool.

Is it semi-reasonable to do the pearl harbor tours and then the PCC for the rest of the day do you think?

Has the Pearl Harbor Memorial reopened? It was closed for repairs. Stop at Costco for spam and macadamia nuts.

It has been awhile but I think 12 hours at the PCC is too long. I would get there in the afternoon if you are staying for the evening luau. Pearl Harbour area might be a good choice for the morning. And then you have a couple of ways to get to PCC from there. Either take the North Shore route or take H3 that cuts across to Kaneohe.

I would leave from the airport and check into the hotel... ie leave your bags there, otherwise they will be in the car and you may have them stolen. that second day sounds exhausting.. how early will you have to get up to be on the north shore at 6:30 am?
On the 4th day, I would snorkel first.. and maybe take the bus there.. as it can get very crowded. then go hiking or whatever.

Some of those days look full!!! But I'm a weirdo and like actual beach time when I'm there. We go to Hawaii 3 times a year and Oahu can take a bit of time to get around because of traffic and during high tourist season it's worse. So if you're going during summer, allow MORE time than you think you will need. On your first day, I personally think you should scale back because you'll have a long flight and time getting luggage and then to your hotel. Where are you staying? When you say dive, do you mean scuba? I personally am a fan of getting into my hotel and not doing scuba on the first day. It's a good day to get a lay of the land so to speak and not worry about being somewhere at a certain time. That includes for catamaran tour. Here is what I might suggest (as a couple who stays at the Royal Hawaiian in Honolulu frequently): Day 1: Arrive at hotel and drop off luggage, hike diamond head, hang out at Waikiki beach, dinner at my favorite Japanese/sushi place EVER (and I've traveled through Japan) www.yelp.com/biz/tokkuri-tei-honolulu or at Side Street Inn for some local food (I think this is the place I'm thinking of) sidestreetinn.com/?utm_source=tripadvisor&utm_medium=referralDay 2: Shark Dive/Catamaran Tour (honestly I think the catamaran tour is unnecessary if you do a shark tour or dive/snorkel boat trip) and then stand up paddle board in waikiki beach (BEST spot to stand up paddle in my life!). Then, go change in your hotel room, drive out to Mike's Huli Chicken (food truck parked on side of highway) to pick up some to go food and hang out at Lanikai Beach in Kailua for a couple hours. Don't wait too late in the day to do this as you won't find a place to park, particularly in heavy tourist season. This is the beach the Obamas used to vacation at when he was the president as he grew up in the area. It's a beautiful beach and Mike's Huli Chicken is PHENOMENAL. Just please be mindful of the undertow if you're not a swimmer. Day 3: drive up to north shore first stopping along beaches you want to check out and then at the classic and popular Matsumoto shaved ice top of the island (don't remember town name but it's quaint and fun to explore on foot) before working your way back down to the Polynesian cultural center and luau. It's not our favorite luau but it's worth attending and still something we encourage others to enjoy. Dole plantation is also between Matsumoto and PCC if you want to break your day up. We haven't done the plantation yet though we drive by it often. Some day! Day 4: we don't do the snorkeling at haunama bay for many reasons but this would be a good day to do it if that's on your list. Honestly this is probably the day I would do the Pearl Harbor Tour. Even if you can't go out to the site specifically, there is a lot to see and do at the museum located on the shore. DEFINITELY RESERVE TICKETS BEFORE YOU ARE IN HAWAII. Oh, am I yelling? Yes, I AM YELLING!!!
Day 5: Obviously you would stand up paddle board, kayak, or swim one last time in the ocean at Waikiki beach. Anyway, that's what I would do. Be sure to explore the Royal Hawaiian and/or Moana Surfrider Hotel since they are the original two hotels there. Iolani Palace is also cool to see but you'll be fine if you miss it. Hope this helps. Holler if you have questions. Sorry for any poor spelling. Healing from surgery.
P.S. Please don't overdo it when you're there. HAWAII is about relaxing and enjoying the moment. I know this may be a once in a lifetime trip for some, but it's not a great trip if you're trying to cram everything in. Hawaii is about slowing down and just being. Do it.

I would suggest only ONE outdoor/bathingsuit activity per day. You are headed for the sunburn of your life with that schedule. You are going to be MUCH closer to the equatorial sun and it doesn't take long for people from the northern latitudes to burn even with a heavy duty sunscreen.
Add in seeing the bishop museum, Iolani palace and remove at least one outdoor activity each day. I think you have too much scheduled and will have issues with traffic.

I would do the PCC the same day you’re on the North Shore. Logistically, you’re so close, it makes more sense to combine those events. Check into your hotel first, they can hold your bags until the room is ready. You also don’t need a reservation for a catamaran tour, if you just head to Waikiki beach, there are a few boats that sit and wait, taking regular tours on walk up basis. The ones I know are directly in from of the Moana Surf Rider and Outrigger Waikiki/Dukes. I’ve spent many a day laying on the beach watching them come and go

We went to both Bishop Musuem and Iolani Palace and I would recommend them both.
ETA: My parents went to PCC and not Bishop or Iolani and after talking to us and seeing our pictures, they wished they'd skipped PCC or at least spent less time there, and gone where we did. They wanted us to go to PCC with them and in looking at it ahead of time, I felt it was too expensive and commercialized. My impression was basically a Hawaiian theme park under the guise of cultural education ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I think your plan is more active than what I like to do on trip to Hawaii. But that is totally fine! Regarding PCC - Will you be driving yourself? If not, check the times for the transportation and that will help determine how much time you will need. PCC is really planned around visitors spending the whole day there but not everyone does. I wanted to comment on your last day. Your flight leaves at 1pm which means you should be at the airport by 11 to go through the agricultural inspection and then check in for your flight. Will you be returning a rental car at the airport too? For something that morning, I would say a walk along Waikiki beach would be lovely. North shore are should include some time in Haleiwa for lunch!

I know I'm in the minority but we thought the PCC wasn't worth the drive. Maybe because I grew up in Hawaii. Y'all might love it. I do agree that you're a tad overbooked. My grade school classes used to go to the Bishop Museum in the 50's and I loved it then as a kid. I'm sure it's still great When you drive to Pearl Harbor and take a left off the highway, there is a big swimming pool on your left. That's where I took swimming lessons as a kid.

We vacationed on Oahu in November and the traffic was surprising...we stayed at Aulani hotel and everywhere we went towards north shore, Waikiki, etc was a minimum 1 hr drive. Just be sure to account for that. Please go eat at Monkeypod (farm to table) restaurant-we ate there 2 or 3 times it was so good!! PCC, eh, I guess this could be all day...we were there maybe 2-3 hours and did not do the luau. We luau’d before tho. Put Manoa Falls on your list....it is an easy hike and so beautiful! We did this hike after Diamond Head, which btw, hike as early in the morning as possible. It gets very crowded!! We downloaded the Shaka app...narrated guide around the island that stops and starts when you do, using gps. It gave a lot of interesting info that we didn’t have to read up on ourselves. Oh and our favorite activity was zip lining at Climbworks!!!! It was awesome, sooooo super fun. It rained a good portion of the time and we just kept going! The staff was amazing and we got a lot of great pics! We did Pearl Harbor on a prior trip so skipped it this time. You will have so much fun!! The island is beautiful! I didn’t get to go but supposedly, Aloha Stadium has two days a week where you can get the popular souvenirs much cheaper than in the gift stores.

Def a little ambitious for me as well, I would figure in a lot more beach time. But if you like activity and want to be on the go, go for it. Not clear if you are staying in Waikiki? Honestly, first thing I do is drop off at hotel, then go to Duke's bar at Royal Hawaiian, sit at bar, have a drink, watch the surfers, eat some hula pie. Relax! I also recommend Pearl Harbor, but I am not sure if it is closed as well, but the museum and theater are still interesting. Honestly, I would skip PCC, but if you haven't been there and really want to see it, I guess it's educational. Recommend Laniakea beach to watch turtles in the surf, but please keep a safe distance and respect them! Also Haleiwa for Matsumoto shave ice, shops. Sharks Cove snorkeling is great, just rent and go. Awesome food trucks there too. Hiking Diamond Head do early in the morning/day if you can, bcz it gets hot! and busy. Haunama bay is another I skipped last time bcz it's become overrun with tourists and the ecolife is not the same. I have read that getting there in early morning is good tho. Check their hours, bcz they do close to give the fish a break. Not sure what time of year, but check for local farmer's markets. I hit up a few last time and had some of the best frozen pineapple drinks and foods from the local farmers. You just need some time in there to enjoy the Aloha spirit! We end up talking a lot with bartenders and locals, learn so much about the island, the people, the area, the effects of tourism, the jobs and education.

Another endorsement for the Bishop Museum and Iolani Palace. Just didn't care for PCC. Too commercialized perhaps. Pearl Harbor was a must for me.

I'd lay low the first day. We were exhausted the first day flying into Maui. It took all we could do to grocery shop and unpack in condo. I was flying with parents so maybe that added to it.

Thank you.
The only thing set in stone is the shark dive. We have to schedule early in case its delayed for weather so it could really be anywhere.
We did the go Oahu pass so I'm trying to plan according to area so we have options. If it's too much we can always skip kr find a beach to lay on.
What would you recommend for the first night or just dinner or sleep. The catamaran is free so it could go either way.
What luau do you recommend? I think we have the option of this one or moa luana or something like that? I'll have to check the pass. You have to do one right?
Were going to hike early but are perfectly happy doing it slow and I'll take a million pics along the way. But we will cancel the second if were not feeling it. We traditionally walk 8 miles a day with the dogs so we don't want to get some activity in. The paddleboarding is a 3 hour rental but we can do paddleboarding, kayaking, or play on the beach.
I would love as much time in the water, on Australia I snorkeled for 10 hours and only got out of the water for lunch. Were much more water people than sand people.
I haven't reserved a car yet. I was just going to uber or use shuttles but now I'm second guessing. The shuttle to PCC is $26pp each way so that would pay for the car rental almost. Is a car the best way or would another rental be better with traffic....motorcycle or mopeds maybe? Is that possible for 4 days? I need to decide asap.
We leave Friday for denver, I have a surprise party planned for him in Vegas next friday and I'm gifting him with the trip then and our flight is Sunday morning.

We were given a book called Oahu revealed. We called it the blue bible LOL That was several years ago I think it has been updated since then. It offered great tips like, Don't go here, best food spots etc. it's written by locals and the advise was spot on! If you have a car it is wonderful just to get in the car and drive!

We posted up outside Duke's in Waikiki, too. We rented beach chairs right there and spent 5 hours relaxing, in and out of the water, watching waves and soaking up sun. Grabbed lunch & drinks at Duke's, too. The hula pie is no joke.
It was one of my favorite days in Hawaii.
ETA: There was a catamaran right outside the Duke's on the beach. $25 for an hour ride, and they had a dog on the boat. Haha! Seemed fun!

Regarding Pearl Harbor, you can still do everything except the portion where they take visitors to a dock over the USS Arizona. That's what's closed for repairs. The other portions are still available and interesting. Info from their National Park website: What Can I Do Instead? In lieu of USS Arizona Memorial programs, visitors will be taken on a 30-minute narrated harbor tour of Battleship Row and the area around the USS Arizona Memorial. Tickets are still required. Visitors can get walk-in tickets at the visitor center on a first come, first served basis, or reserve tickets online at www.recreation.gov. The Pearl Harbor Visitor Center, museums, and bookstore are still open as usual from 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM, seven days a week. Our partner sites – the Battleship Missouri Memorial, the USS Bowfin Submarine Museum and Park, and the Pacific Aviation Museum Pearl Harbor – are also open as usual. You've gotten good advice on other parts of your trip. It's a beautiful place, hope you have a fantastic trip. Helen

PCC is meh. Maybe it's because we went there for the luau on our arrival day. Dunno. Not a place I'd go back to. We did the luau at Aulani, which I enjoyed much more. There's also one at Ko'olina called Paradise Cove. I've heard that some people love it, others, not so much.
I second what redshoes said above: hit the Monkeypod in Ko'olina (across the street from Disney's Aulani). Their mai tais, with honey-liliko'i foam, are to DIE for. Craving one at this moment.
Hawaii is our "downtime" vacation, so there is an awful lot of sitting around the pool and enjoying meals out. I agree with whomever above said, "More beach time."

Maybe I'll keep the luau and just show up for that.
I just wanted a jeep so we might just spend that day exploring.

Definitely need to rent a car; I wouldn’t feel safe on a moped as it is major highway (multi-lanes) travel to get most places.

Rented a jeep today and I'm going to move the luau to the night we get there so we can nap on the beach and then go have dinner before bed since were getting up so early.
I cant tell if I'm more excited ot nervous for this shark dive. I booked his bucket list trip...90 minutes with NO CAGE wtf. Who is this man ?
So on the day we have for PCC we will move some activities up maybe or we might just find someplace go explore. We will see!

The Arizona Memorial is still closed for repairs.
Visitors love The Aloha Stadium Swap Meet, which is very close to Pearl Harbor. It is open only on certain days, but you can find lots of bargains on t-shirts, snacks, and other knickknacks to take home.
I would suggest a rental car because the weather here can be vastly different from one side of a mountain to the other. I use to have to drive through one of the tunnels to get to work, and it could be sunny on my side of the mountain but raining as soon as I emerged on the other side. Please be aware that rental cars and tourists are prime targets at all of the scenic lookouts. Do not EVER leave valuables in the car, even if you think you will be outside taking photos for "just a few minutes". A "smash and grab" takes seconds. They often have a partner waiting in a getaway vehicle in the parking lot so they can jump in and take off.
Chief's Luau gets a lot of rave reviews from visitors. We bought tickets for my BIL and his GF when they visited last year and they thoroughly enjoyed it.
Your Day 4 seems packed. If you really want to relax and enjoy each activity, I would cut one of those out.
When driving, keep in mind that traffic here is HORRENDOUS. Peak hours are mornings until around 7:45 (later if there are accidents) and between 4:30 and 6:00.
Other things I always remind visitors:
Please keep your distance from the Hawaiian sea turtle. They are protected by state and federal law. Some people like to touch the turtles or take selfies with them, even place their little kids on them as if they are riding the turtles. This is illegal. The Hawaiian monk seals are also protected. They are sometimes seen basking on beaches but they too, should be admired from afar.
Regarding the ocean, tourists die here ALL THE TIME. People get swept off rocky ledges from rogue waves, pummeled by rough waves, or swept out by rip tides. You'd be surprised at how many people choose to ignore signs. Hawai'i is beautiful but can also be deadly to those who ignore safety in favor of the perfect selfie or their sense of adventure.

By the way, if any of your travel plans include the Pali Highway (Route 61), please note that is is open only during am and pm rush hour to alleviate traffic. Outside of those hours, that route is closed due to a landslide at one of the tunnels. The Pali Lookout is still open to visitors. I do recommend stopping there for the view, but please note this is one area known for break-ins of rental cars. Additionally, it is VERY windy there and often has passing rain showers so a light jacket would be good.
