I pronounce it kinda like "sah-ggy". DH pronouces is "saw-ggy". and now our boys are learning it all wrong from him. how do you pronounce it? We live in MI, are from opposite sides of the state, btu i don't think it's one of those regional words, is it?
edit: I've not done a good job in writing how I say it lol. not like "saggy", more like the a makes an ahhh sound. like the a in "ha".

Sah (like open up and say AH) ggy. I agree with you, but I also have a "Chicago accent". You live close to Chicago, so you have it right. He is wrong, along with all the other peas. HAHA
The boys need to get on board or get grounded! LOL
ETA: I just checked with all my office mates. Sah-ggy.

LOL, but that's how we're all saying it, too... saw-ggy. Sah-ggy... is a long a sound. Like it would rhyme with bag... or hag. Or rag.

I'm hearing AH, like a doctor asks you when you open your mouth. Not a long A sound when Fonzie says AY, or rhyming with hey/hay.

Soggy (saw-ggy)... saw, raw, paw, ma. Saggy (sah-ggy)... bag, rag, hag, snag. (I called this a long a but maybe I was incorrect in calling it that.) Do you pronounce those two sets of words differently? I don't hear the AY/hey/hay in either of those words, btw.

Soggy = what I said like "Ah" when you open your mouth or like this click me!
The way the peas are saying soggy = doggie, foggy. Like you said, paw. Definite AWWWWWWW sound.
AY/hey/hay is the long A sound I was referring to. Maybe upper Midwesterners have a different ear for this sound?

I have a fairly pronounced southern (atrocious) accent, so in my head I am saying saw-ge (long e) but to someone else it probably sounds like "sawwwww-geeeeeee" LOL

Sah (like open up and say AH) ggy.
Gotta stand up for the AH-people! SAH-ggy. Rhymes with FAH-ggy. (Those of you who say SAW-ggy: do you also say FAW-ggy? How strange, to my ear, anyway.) I also say AH-ringe, not AW-ringe for "orange," and WAHSH, not WAWSH (or worse, WORSH) for "wash." I assume we divide consistently on these, too. I'm originally from southern Connecticut (about 70 miles east of NYC) and have lived in Maryland for the past 48 years [yikes! has it been that long?]/
