I am trying to get back into healthier habits after being lazy and gaining weight that I had previously lost. I am working on shaking the sugar habit. We already eat fairly healthy. I started going back to the gym and signed up for my fitness pal. It suggested linking an app or Fitbit for steps. While I could use Google fit on my phone, I do not always carry it.
Are there any basic ones out there that are not expensive? I do not need to track my sleep although if it had that feature, I may get one for DH.

I love my Fitbit Flex! I've had it for over three years and I love that it's so simple and it just uses dots to track my steps goal. It also tracks sleep and some other things in the app.

Find my recent thread asking for opinions about the Apple Watch to see my opinion on FitBit. ugh. I will never buy one again. The bands break, my dd's just stopped working, and their customer service is awful.

I got my kids the knock off after a friend recommended it. I think it's the Sanyo or Samsung and I got it on Amazon. I don't think DS is using his but 22 yo DD does and seems to like it.

I have a set of many different bands that I switch out based on what color I'm wearing. They were like a buck apiece on Amazon. The little nugget pops in and out so easily.
My ILs bought everyone Garmin trackers (9 adults) the same year that I got my Fitbit (my FIL bought mine back from me since my DH had bought me the FitBit.) NONE of theirs are still usable. My husband got a replacement for his after it broke shortly after Christmas, and that one ended up breaking less than a year later.
EDIT: Awww - with this post I'm Nice as Pi! Ha! Only a week off Pi Day, too!

The bands break, my dd's just stopped working, and their customer service is awful. We’ve only had good lunch wifh fitbits. Dd 13 has the charge 3. Might be more than you want to spend but she loves it. It charts many things - steps, sleep, cycle, bp. She can check weather. It does more than she needs it to do. I’m sure another Fitbit would suit your needs too.

I was thinking basic for now. If I want one with more features, I could give DH whatever one I buy now. He is not interested right now.
Now I just need to figure out how quickly I want one and where to get the best deal.

I'm getting an Apple watch so I know I can walk into the store with ANY questions I have and they'll answer them or fix it or whatever needs to be done.

I have had SUPER customer service from Fitbit. Not so much with apple...wow, that guy was so apathetic on the phone, it was ridiculous! In the store, they are great, however. I'm also shopping for a new Fitbit because mine fell off in Trader Joe's and I'm kind of lost w/o it.

I enjoy my fitbits and really enjoy daily step challenges with friends. I preferred my fitbit one but dh upgraded me to the hr. I like it, but loved my simple one

I have the Fitbit charge 2, and have worn it every day for almost 2 years. I love it! It keeps me motivated to get a green screen. I do like the sleep tracking aspect as well, as sleeping is and issue for me and I can see when I am doing better and what supplements help the most.
My first one had a weird cracked face just 2 weeks in, and Fitbit sent me a new one. Customer service talked me through transferring syncing so that I didn't lose my data. Also allowed me to keep the broken Fitbit (I sent a photo of the broken face).
I keep screen protectors film on the face and have had no problems. I too have a selection of bands to wear with my watch. I wore the first one out after about 18 months.

Oh, Fitbits. I am not impressed with the quality. The customer service used to be really good now it's average. I've owned a FLEX, A CHARGE, AN ALTA, A FLEX 2. The first flex died, the charge was bulky and ugly so I passed it off to DH and upgraded to the Alta and three of the pretty silver bangles broke so I just switched back to a Flex 2. I won't pay Apple Watch prices and I don't think I'd like the bulk and then there's the fun challenges with Fitbit that I enjoy doing with my friends. Overall it keeps me active so it's worth dealing with the company. I recommend spending as little as possible because most last only a year.
