Update: Between the ice, abreva and anti-viral meds, the fever blister was knocked out! Yay! Thanks for all the advice. I even had my doctor give me another prescription with refills so that I have some on hand if I need it again. Once again saved by the Peas!!
A few weeks ago I had strep throat and at the same time developed a fever blister. Even though I caught it right away and started putting abreva on it, it still took well over a week, to fully disappear. Now it seems to be returning, I am having a little pain in the same spot. Maybe it's just some residual pain and I'm being paranoid, but I started putting some abreva on it just in case. I also called my Dr.'s office and asked about anti-virals. They are going to call me back and I'm hoping they will just call in a prescription and not make me come in.
I'm looking for other recommendations to help clear this up fast!!! I have a party to go to on Saturday and I would love to nip this in the bud if it's at all possible!
Thanks!!!

Keep doing the Abreva EVERY TIME YOU THINK ABOUT IT. I ice mine even before they come up to full blister.

I had 3 in the fall. The 3rd one I had to take Valtrex. I was pissed. My gp said she treats them on the inside out. You can put PURE ACETONE on a Qtip and it will help dry it out faster. A NP friend told me that.

Ice for at least 90 minutes!
When you get the meds take 2, then I wait for a few (3-4 hours) and take another. I do not wait until the next day. The meds will knock it out if you can get the script fast enough.

Thanks! My dr.s office called in a prescription and I took 2. Take another in a few hours, huh? I'll give it a shot! My prescription had 4 tablets. If I take another one in a few hours and then the last one in the morning? I iced it once, but when I am done making dinner I will do the 90 minutes. Thanks! I hope it works!!!

Ice while making dinner. The ice only works within the first few hours of feeling one.

If they become more frequent valtrex is your best friend. I get them when I'm stressed. I've been on a daily single dose of Valtrex for almost 8 years. I have only gotten a couple in that time - high-stress times or dh has one and I get it. I can feel them coming and do the double then single dose and then it lasts about a day.

Do you do it the same way as CeeScraps, 2 pills then another one 3-4 hours later?
